Another fun one. Reasonably good plotline kept it interesting. Good mix of dogfighting, protecting cap ships, and protecting your assault ships. Pretty fast battle too. Glad I got to fly my baby, the TIE interceptor, for a change as well.
i really liked the giant battle with so may starfighters to kill. i am playing this as part of rtf 21' and with cheats, blasting everything was enjoyable and the laser sounds were so crazy
Solid battle that you fight against a rogue imperial battle group. You force parts of them into submission until they all return to the course. Sounds repetitive? Well, it is a little bit. Missions four and five are almost exactly the same except for two additional TRN that you must not miss.
I played on Easy. This seems like a decent battle. Again, as with so many of these early XWA battles, is that there's a ton of waiting around. Other than that, I thought the mission had a cool storyline and showed off some capital ships that I hadn't seen before.
I liked this battle, though the spartan briefings and repetitive nature of the missions hurt the rating somewhat, as did going from a Defender or Avenger to Interceptor for the final mission; it could have easily been the other way around.
Still, a good way to spend half an hour or so earning more FCHG points!
An average battle. What to say, the missions are a bit identical, the classical inspect and protect the capship. Also it has some major flaws, like T/Bs and T/Is coming out of hyperspace, or yourself hypering in a shielded Interceptor. This is definitely something the authors should have had in mind when creating this battle. A bit too linear that feels like fodder.
Like the most recent reviewers, I enjoyed this battle. Some things must have been changed, fixed, or upgraded over the years, because I did not have any issues completing the battle. Flying on easy, I found the missions fun and engaging.
It was an okay battle to do, nothing too fancy, but nothing to unleash hate on as well. This battle was perhaps fixed over the years to some degree. The plot was relatively interesting, although i found some missions awfully too similar, especially 2 and 3. All the missions were relatively quick. Which might be odd in case of mission 4 as it appears as a quite large fleet on fleet battle. I'm not quite sure here, given I was busy chasing the fighters but it appears enemy cap ships just self-destruct after a while. Interesting concept. Anyhow, an okay one to fly!
I'm not sure about all the hate for this battle. The storyline was pretty clear if unambitious, you're just striking against a war lord and accepting the surrender of some of his forces. It's definitely clear enough and progresses. The missions are pretty simple, but fun, especially the fleet engagement. I overall had a pretty good time with it.
Awful, awful battle. Fly for FCHG points, nothing more. The last mission is particularly frustrating, as you're vastly out-numbered while your ISD sits in another region doing absolutely nothing.
sorta fun battle, but when an entire 3 sqds of tie fighters and interceptors only hunt YOUR ass, and you only have 3 other fighters to assist you, its NOT funny anymore. Also: you are part of an entire battlegroup (2 ISDs, 2 FRGs, CRVs etc etc) and still you are greatly outnumbered :/
Not really sure what this battle was about, something to do the DB. Plotline could have been alot more well done. Fighting 12 A-Wings by yourself was fun though.
It was a decent battle, only problem is it lacks plot line and missions 2-4 are exactly the same with each just having a different mix of fighters and transports.
Besides the problems already meantioned I hated the fact that the only starship order used was "wait" which made for very unrealistic, yet easy action AND that I, a T/B Pilot from Echo, had to destroy T/Bs from Echo while all the so called "EH Craft" in the battle were all unknown to me.
A fair mission. Mission 2, 3, and 4 were almost identical.
Well... Not the best battle. The missions are mostly the same and the plot is boring.
Ok battle but i'm tired with Tie Fighting with shield. Alot of inconsistencies (2 ST transports to capture an ISD with its compliment of stormtroopers? come on!) Boring missions, mission 2,3,4 are the same!
This was my first full battle. I enjoyed it immensely, and found the storyline to be airtight. Keep up the good work Maj Domm!
My first Battle, and this battle is very good. Besides the fact that most of the missions are the same. :P
I thought that this was a good battle. However, I thought it had little variety, although the last missions was fun.
Boring. Useless dogfights, while cap ships hold steady, when they don't self destruct to simulate some fight... thatand the bad impression to fly the same mission again and again, with only a few things changed....
Good missions, but #2,3, and 4 were alike - defend the capture operations. Besides a few things here and there, a battle worth fighting
A really good battle. Good plotline! Must be flown.
The last two missions really rocked! Fun, lots of dogfighting and an interesting plotline. Good Job!
Fun mission...I liked it. Well done and lots of dog-fighting. I just don't know how people got that high of a score...I tried missions on all difficulties and still got a small score...Oh well. Great battle anyway.
Great battle! One of the best for XWA I've played yet. If you love to play these on HARD, then your not going to be disappointed. Watch our for mission 5 though, or else you'll be out of the action fast! Great design and implementation!
Nice mission. I enjoyed the dogfighting. It wasn't insanely difficult like some other missions I've tried. Nice stotyline and plot twists. Highly recommended battle.
Overall battle had a good plot. The only drawbacks I found were the fact that missions two and three were very similar. Furthermore I was kind of miffed after taking the time to disable the ISD Powerful in mission 4 only to find out that it was pointless, no bonus points or anything. But missions were well balanced, dogfighting was fun without being too easy nor too difficult. Especially liked the last mission, spent it weaving between the platforms forcing the TIEs and gunboats following me to crash into them....=) Good Job
Fun mission for those who enjoy a good dogfight. Could have done with a little more anti-capship action. Overall, a very good battle.
If you like dogfighting, then this battle is for you! If not, it can get old fairly quickly. Overall, I liked the plot and the battle was well-designed.
This battle is really good. Suggest everyone downloads it.
Mission 1: Enemy starships do not move or fire.
Mission 2: Friendly starships do not fire, even when attacked.
Mission 3: Friendly starships do not fire or move. Enemy VSD Koss is marked as a mission critical craft instead of the ISD Terror. The mission shows as complete when the VSD is still firing on the ISD (it may satisfy the mission objective but is plain stupid). Warning about enemy TIE Bombers appears late (by this point one wave has been destroyed and\\or launched torpedoes).
Mission 4: Enemy fleet is set to self-destruct on second order, for no apparent purpose and without explanation. Player's command ship is set to enemy VSD Koss instead of the friendly ISD Tallus. ISD Dark Reign, B/CRS Edno, DREAD Talkin, STRKC Pierce, VSD Qu'nos, DREAD Henlon and FRG Palpatine have no orders. L/FRGs Suili and Coddington have starfighter orders. STRKC Corvalis is set to self destruct on second order, for no apparent purpose and without explanation. If the INT Zeus's purpose is to trap the enemy fleet, why does it leave? The only possible explanation is to allow the contrived capture of the ISD Powerful, by the invincible L/C Jethro (which flees anyway when badly damaged). Presumably this is also why the Powerful is spontaneously disabled without enemy craft doing it. The fact that both fleets's starships sit there without attacking each other makes a mockery of the plot, notwithstanding the contrived self-destruct orders, and the primary goal only actually revolves around blowing up starfighters.
Mission 5: The briefing implies you need to inspect the enemy base to trigger arrival of friendly forces, but your support doesn't show up until you are hit. The holding cell stations are stacked end to end, and this causes the boarding craft to fly through the lower part of some stations when docking. The Golan 3 platform doesn't fire.
