Very simple mission - basic plot line, and mostly a turkey shot against lack-luster rebels - I suppose you can kind of assume they are raw recruits or something....worth playing for the point, mostly.
Not a bad battle. Simple, quick, to the point. Multiple waves of attackers and a few capital ships to destroy if you are so inclined. I'd recommend it for beginners (if there can be such a thing on a game that was programed using stone tablets) and seasoned veterans alike.
A pretty quick and straightforward mission, it's premise made sense and it wasn't too difficult to complete. The over-simplicity of the mission is what loses it it's rating of 5 from me, since the flight groups came in at a reasonable pace...and in a T/D it's not much of a challenge taking on the fighters they throw at you. Other than that, pretty good.
Overall it was a fun battle not overly difficult even on hard, which coming from someone that rarely plays SP is saying something.
The star fighters are fairly easy to take out and of course your wingmen steal some of your kills, the Y-Wings are somewhat more difficult to take out and the corvettes where pretty easy to take out as well.
In the long run it was a fun battle.
It's a solid early mission that has you fending off waves of fighters in a TIE Defender whilst protecting a ATR that is really never in any danger at all. You can pick up additional points via the corvettes, which is a nice touch and overall it's a reasonably fun mission to fly.
Really good mission, this one had me defending the avenger from taking damage. wave after wave of starfighters but theyre no match for my ions! corvettes were easy targets once the starfighters were out of the way, the ywings sometimes would crash right into the ISD. dont they know the shields are up? recommend this for a competition
Quick little mission that has you fight repetative waves of three different types of crafts. Nothing exciting here, nothing terrible. Due to being in a TIE Defender you feel in control throughout the mission.
Sorta tedious. Felt like the waves of y-wings never ended. They were extra slippery though, which was sort of fun. Corvette got away from me before I could kill it, which was sad :(
A reasonably quick and fun mission, that doesn't challenge - even on Hard. But, a great chance to relax, kill a bunch of obsolete starfighters and a couple corvettes and pick up an FCHG point.
A simple mission with a straightforward premise - you are flying the mighty TIE Defender against waves of R-41s, Y-Wings, and a few corvettes. It may not be the most exhilarating mission in the compendium, but there are no complaints from me about firing quad laser shots at slow and weak ships. As noted, there may be an issue with orders, as all of the ships ignore until until the final wave comes in.
This was an acceptable mission to complete for points. There's nothing overly spectacular about it, but nothing overly problematic either. It is very easy to complete, even on Hard difficulty. Overall, it's about as expected considering its age (released in 1995). Simply shoot up a few waves of rebel fighters and take out two corvettes. Send your wingmen home if you're trying to maximize your score.
A pretty average example of a TIE free that doesn't come within a parsec of being challenging, even on hard. It's a good choice if you're trying to get close to an existing high score because you can send all allies home. I took rockets because I like to scrap corvettes with one pair, but advanced torpedoes would be an excellent choice to dust the Y-Wings fractionally faster.
Nice quick little mission but I liked it. Is it challenging, no. Was it fun, yes. If you are looking for a fast FCHG point and the chance to shoot up some Rebel scum, then give this mission a shot. Also a good mission for pilots who are new to custom battles.
Easy to fly, easy to accomplish, in any way you want to do it, either for a quick 1 FCHG point or if you need to steam off while stomping on rebels while having the uber fighter, such as a T/D. Pure fun and nonchalance makes this a nice mission to fly.
A pretty quick and simple mission to flight, though albeit I would say a bit too easy. There’s little to no difficulty in combat or any possibility that you could fail, but can be fun to fly nonetheless.
As most people said already, the mission was too easy, no challenge at all. This is the kind of mission that your wingmen do everything for you, unless of course you want points. That being said, everything works as it should and it's well made.
I liked the layout of the mission, a simple escort of an Assault Transport.
However the mission failed to really deliver, as it stands it's just a case of combing through waves of R-41s while watching the ART make slow progress towards it's destination.
Lemmings. Most often the R-41's and for most part the Y-Wings would just fly in a straight line while I shot them in the exhaust. Early mission from pre 2000 so can't gripe too much.
Solid and a loose continuation storywise of TIE Free Battle #1
By his own admission, the mission maker was using this to get better at creating custom missions.
The mission itself IS enjoyable, with no apparentt bugs. Having said that it is too easy and you never feel threatened (enither you or the craft you are protecting)
Simple battle, it's relatively straightforward in that you can hang back and kill R-41 Starchasers with missiles and then engage any that get through with lasers - then repeat the task several times. As has been mentioned, a few more attacking vectors may spice it up a bit!
Overall though a entertaining one to fly!
Could have used more attacking vectors to spice it up as once you get where the attacks are coming from, you just sit and kill the R-41 starchasers and let's say it could have used some additional dialog in my humble opinion as I'm a fan of giving missions all the needed context but, anyways, you get an easy FCHG point for this.
I enjoyed it. Good battle, but easy.
Technically good (no major bugs, and briefings were nice), but very simplistic and completely unchallenging.
Mission Making Bug Note: multiple 0-craft FGs
It also crashes Yogeme (had to open it with TFW)
Some craft (per feedback from Rando) appear to be out of bounds
High Score though is legit based on the craft that are actually in the mission itself
The mission flies fine, no impact from the above
Naming on the two corvettes are unformatted. This is reflected in goals and the actual ship.
