I wanted to like this mission but the story really wasn't there. They did custom emails but they gave next to no story or humor and it was supposed to have custom audio selected but nothing played for me. On top of that the missions were just basic kill or capture ones without much to make them special

This was a middling battle. Most of the missions were fun but a couple had some annoying bugs. The plot was okay.

pretty straight forward missions overall, decent story, you'll need to make sure you have the s-foils patch installed otherwise mission 3 will fail since you will be unable to disable the shuttle.

Besides being utterly boring, this battle is full of bugs. In missions four and five you have to watch out for your fellow pilots not to destroy the mission critical ships that are supposed to be captured. In 5 in addition sometimes the flight groups that are supposed to disable the target just fly around in circles while you do not have a ion gun. Upon that mission failed messages on victory. If you don’t have to do this for a competition, skip it. It’s a nightmare.

I played on Easy with cheats. The missions seemed to blend together as I kept playing, I was just killing a bunch of capital ships most of the time. That said, I really enjoy killing capital ships so that's not a huge negative. I just wish it was a little more varied.

This campaign increased the loss of interest as it advanced. The first mission was superb, fending off waves of A-Wings and other fighters in the advanced was delightful, if a bit overused, never loses any fun. But as you progress through the story, the plotline gets sketchier and sketchier and the missions all about pounding capships every time. I ended it out of the burden to finish and bag some FCHG points. Sadly, because it started with brilliant edge.

This is a confusing battle at times. Some missions are surprisingly simple (like Mission 1) and others are complex and require some planning. The last two missions felt very similar. I enjoyed when the CRV hypered in at the end of Mission 3 (I think?) and tried to block your exit.

With each mission flown I gradually enjoyed this one less and less. It started quite nicely with a duel of you versus squad of A-Wings, which was pretty fun. Mission 2 is technically a scout one but you can still cause some havoc. Odd thing is what you CAN destroy and what not. If you blast any of the capital ships or even the mine laying transport... you will be granted bonus points for that but also lose the mission. Interesting! In mission 3 I experienced a problem where Immortal shot down the distabled station. I don't think it was aiming directly at the station but some other enemy craft close by? In mission four the gunboats and blastboats actually killed the corvette instead of disabling it. Trigger happy bastards. Mission 5 and 6 are just the 'old school wipe 'em all out' large scale encoutners, so nothing too exciting. It's a solid battle to fly still.

Like XWATC-11 ,the wrong choice of craft ruined again FOR ME the battle. S-foil patch 2.02 dont work in my XWA 2.02 and GUN with only missiles after spended the warloads, are limited to observe the battle, and prie for the others pilots to succeded in complet the mission goal.GUN are perfect in skirmish mission type,Why without cannons in the battles?

...well... I'm only giving this a three because it didn't crash on me or make my computer catch fire. I don't mind a challenge, or a half way decent storyline...but this battle is kind of lacking...great idea, poor follow-through...needs some work.

mission 3 aside a great battle not the best story but a good few dogfights super stuff just wish we could have a T/D for 3rd mission would have made it alot better

I liked the missions but there was no real storyline and the missions where a bit empty, not very many mission objectives 2 or 3 at most

Starts out strong, but it's all downhill after you reach mission 3. The third mission of this battle is filled with flaws and bugs. But the worst thing is that the author did not provide an alternate ship to fly for pilots who do not have the infamous 's-foils patch' installed. Not all of us want to install the half-baked s-foils patch (I've seen fighters fly sideways and shoot lasers out of their engines with that stupid thing installed; not to mention the shuttles which drag their wings on the floor of the hangar), but the author forces you to install the patch by not giving us an alternate ship, which is just bad form. And then, after all that, there is a bug which keeps the primary mission goals from being completed anyway (see bug report below). If you MUST fly this battle, just save yourself a lot of time and SKIP the third mission. By doing this, perhaps you will enjoy this battle a lot more than I did.

All over: inflights need spell check and check for conditions. M3: PLT sometimes gets destroyed, goal states to stop fleeing craft, but that means capture the shuttle, the TRNs can go?

Mission 4: In-flight messages indicating failure are shown at the same time as the victory ones when the mission is successfully completed.
Mission 6: In-flight message from EH craft needing assistance to capture Rebel shuttle appears long after it is captured.

Title: The Phare Encounter Missions: 6 Medal: The Dark Crescent Game Platform: X-Wing Alliance Author: FM/COL Shadow/Ranger2-3/Wing XI/ISD Immortal (ColShadow@aol.com) Installation ------------ The Mission.lst replaces your original file, so back that up! 0] MAke sure you have an S-Foils patch installed. 1] Double click the .EHM file, the EH Battle Launcher will install the battle. 2] Check the Misc folder in your XWA one for additional material like patches, sounds etc. 3] In the EH Battle Launcher go to Game > XWA Options > Pilot Options. 4] Here create a New Pilot with the "Prepare for EH Battle" switch on. 5] Press the X-Wing Alliance button to start XWA. This battle contains several custom files. These can be found in the misc folder. It is recommended they are installed for the full effect of the battle. 6] Place the Email.txt file in your XWingAlliance /Mission directory in a safe place and replace it with the one that came with the mission. 7] If you do not have the modified Shiplist.txt then place the one in your XwingAlliance directory in a safe place and replace it with the one that came with this mission. 8] Place the custom wave .lst file (they will have the same name as the mission but with a .lst extension) in the XWingAlliance\Wave\MissionVoice directory on your hard drive. Place any custom wav's there as well. 9] You will be flying an Assault Gunboat in Mission 3. You will need the XWA S-Foil patch to play it. If you have not already installed it you will find a copy with this mission package. Just unzip it and run the .exe file. It will do the rest. Good luck and have fun!
