While i don't mind flying the TIE unshielded and the missions and story is pretty well designed, but where are the warheads?
Only one mission has them. If your going make me fly a basic TIE, at least give me basic missiles.
Still worth flying tho.
I'm admittedly not a fan of flying a basic TIE Fighter. I'll own that. But why in the world am I put into a T/F in a mission where the objectives are to completely destroy a enemy fleet and multiple installations? Why am I to rely on the AI friendlies to do that? It makes no sense and it's really annoying.
Great battle, well worth flying. Not as hard as you'd think, either-seeing as you have no shields, except for the last mission. Very solid mission design, and very recommeded. =)
This is a nice little battle. The premise is interesting and the storyline is well presented. Enemy waves, timing and balance were all well considered and implemented. I really enjoyed putting the old unshielded TIE Fighter through its paces. Way more stimulating than flying an indestructible TIE Defender through mountains of defenseless rebel fighters. Go ahead and play this battle, it's great.
This battle starts okay and gets progressively worse. The last mission is incredibly tedious and unrealistic. While flying the T/F is fun once in a while, this is overkill.
RUBBISH!!! IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT DOWNLOADING THIS BATTLE DON'T!!!
It's a good battle with the couple glitches (the wingman attack and the CORT suicide). Exellent timing, though, the first 3 times I tried the mission 4 the E/S hypered out just out of scanning range (a bit of frustration there). I also think that some kind of warhead is in order so that at least you can beat some of those rockets on the last mission to the punch on the capital ships.
Not a bad battle, Although i tend to agree with Compton..well made but who really wants a TIE fighter when you can have a TIE Defender or a Missile Boat? Occasionally challenging, this had me stumped for a little while till i figured it out and sent it in, only to have to to fly the whole thing Again for the Sovereign League!!
This battle I liked. However, there were some bad points. [1] Often your wingmen attacked you, but this wasn't too bad because you can order them off of you. [2] The missions in general were pretty easy. [3] How the hell do you take down an Escort Shuttle (worth 500 points in mission 4) without shields?!?!? [4] The final mission didn't feel like you were all that important in the resolution of the plot (maybe it's just me?). But all in all, it was a pretty good battle.
Aside from the two bugs, excellent!!!! Very, very creative... and mission #4 is difficult to get that E/S if you're not timed *exactly*!
I wasn't pleased with the errors in this battle (listed in my bug report). The ships in the final battle are too closely placed. The M/FRG flies through the ISD that comes in later in the battle. But flying in a standard TIE Fighter is a welcome change and brings you back to the standard missions at the beginning of the game TIE Fighter.
A good battle! It shows how a T/F can be used in any type of mission (defense, strike, etc) and still come out on top! The last mission of this battle is outstanding, due to the use of a modified T/F (modified how? I'm not saying!). A must fly battle for Cadets.
This Battle, though some people seem to think it's well designed, sucks. In this day and age, unshielded TIEs are unheard of. It's been years since any unshielded fighters have been issued by the EH. Designing a Battle like this is simply ludicrous.
This was a great battle. Don't even bother to read this: download this now! The thrill of unshielded combat is something to be truly relished in this day of super-advanced Imperial craft! Just watch out for laser fire though. Three from a starfighter and you're vaped. Oh for the good ol' days when the TIE Interceptor was a luxury....
I think this is a good battle overall, but the mission with the platforms and frigates and factory (I think its mission four) has WAY TOO MANY REBEL SCUMS!!!!!! It took me over an hour to finish!
An absolute gem of a battle! Every mission timed to perfection, planned down to tiniest detail. I haven't enjoyed a battle this much in ages. And you get to fly TIE Fighters too! Shields are for wusses!!
