Battle Reviews

Simple objectives and some enjoyable dogfights, and enjoyable mission which can be easily completed.

I enjoyed this mission very much, it has a good storyline to it and it is difficult to complete in an unshielded TIE which is a nice change from the others we have here in the compendium. I would recommend to play this free mission as it has a nice balance.

I’m just not very good at these standard TIE/ln missions. I definitely had to rely on the reinforcements to cover me and help with destroying most of the enemy fighters.

Nothing wrong with the mission itself, easily completeable, you have so many wingman that you're fighting to get the kill yourself, otherwise its an onslaught of lasers and a race to get kills if youre going for points. Maybe reduce the amount of wingman support you have for the next one.

This was a fun mission. It felt like it could have been a mission in the original tie fighter campaign. You in an unshielded TIE taking out tons of X-wings and a couple corvettes. Not too tough even on hard if you're careful, but of course one wrong move and you're dead. Also this was a very quick mission.

Most of the mission fluff is hidden in the readme.txt, so read it before embarking on this crazy mission, in a TIE. The officer briefing only contained a little bit of info from the readme, and without having read that readme first the officer briefing would have been lackluster, and instead it gets a pass. The map briefing was passable, nothing exciting there. Now the mission, Kill all the X-Wings before they land a shot on your TIE! Wasn't too bad except for when reinforcements came a couple of times a friendly AI came and ran into me, vaporizing the TIE. Once I started to stay away from the AI "friends" things went much better for me.

This one took me a few attempts to get a good score, flying in a unshielded TIE Fighter is both refreshing and challenging after the multitude of shielded TIE Advanced and TIE Defenders you get in most free missions. Focus on the X-Wings and the Y-Wings when you have time, and you can get a good score here. A good 4/5 for me.

It's an okay little mission that has you fight not overly smart X-Wings which are chasing you. Every once in a while it is actually fun flying a good old TIE-Fighter once again. If you get a chance kill a Y-Wing as well. And for points you can grind down the station at 4x time speed.

This is a decent mission tailored to flying a TIE Fighter. Don't worry the chances of getting blown to pieces are low. I also like the fact that for once your friendly FGs are doing some of the work. The Empire should always attempt to overpower the Rebels through sheer numbers. It's decent and well-made for the most part. On hard the fighters should not have been at 50% shield power but it doesn't really make much of a difference. I recommend flying it.

It's not a bad mission, but not really innovative (just another dogfight) and, what's worse, you don't have to fight at all if you don't want to. The mission totally solves itself for you.

This was a cool mission, but I don't see how Khaen could get that high. :-P

Kinda boring, but hey it's a T/F! Challenge... yummy... Nothing like facing a whole squad in a single, unshielded ship.

I always welcome the challenge of flying a T/F. Great plot, too.

Challenging & reasonably fun--as long as you don't get shot down right away...

A fun little mission, although a bit easy even on the HARD setting. I would recommend it as an interesting training mission.

This mission is a short, easy, yet fun mission. You should be able to complete it within in a few minutes unless you want to take out the platform. The only problem I found is that is it a little too short, but that is a very minor comparison when you look at the fun factor. I highly recommend this mission!

Description:
------------
WC/COL Ricardo sat back, and thought for a moment,

"I'd have to say the most challenging battle I've been in, was when I escaped from
the Rebel think-tank I was imprisoned in."

"For those of you rookies who haven't bothered to read my biography, I was
kidnapped at the age of six by Rebels. I had shown great signs of intelligence, and was
taken captive on Ryloth. I served in a Rebel think-tank for ten years, every day provided
a new challenge. I was forced to study battle plans and tactics, starship systems, and
Imperial plots. My mind was being primed for a life as a scientist and technician.

One day, at the age of sixteen, myself, and two other captives, a Human, Jon Salle,
and a Rodian, named Quoo. During the one hour of free time we were allowed a day, us
three tapped into the platforms internal databanks. We shut down-Everything- but life
support. Our training had paid off! We snuck down the quiet, dark corridors, until we
reached the think-tanks hangar. I boarded a battered TIE Fighter, that us pupils had put
together one day in class, and left the hangar. Quoo and Salle got into a Y-1300 Freighter
and also exited. It wasn't until later that I learned that Salle had downloaded the
platform's entire databank and had it on the Freighter!

Outside the platform, the Rodian sent a distress signal to a nearby Imperial fleet.
We figured we were going to get away safely, that is, until a Rebel fleet paid a visit to
the think-tank. Two heavily Modified-Correlian Corvettes, a couple flights of Y-wings and
three flights of X-Wings quickly began attacking us! I started to take out the X-Wings,
one by one. Quoo and Jon Salle began to fire proton torpedos at the Corvette. Things
began to look bad, the Y-1300 was
on the verge of being destroyed, and my T/F's Shield and Damage Indicater showed that my
hull was cherry-red! Finally, two minutes into the battle, that the Imperials arrived!

A Victory-Class Star Destroyer jumped right into the battle, and immediately began
taking out the Corvette. A flight of TIE Interceptors screamed out of the VSD's hangar
bay. I was ordered to leave the battle and enter the VSD Nomad's hangar. The Y-1300 did
the same. The think-tank was taken under control by the Imperials as well.

After questioning us, the Imperials set us free, and we went our separate ways.. I
became a smuggler, eventually was invited to join Thrawn's fleet, and one day, became a
pilot of the Emperor's Hammer. And you know the rest of the story.."

"Pshaw, that's all?" asked a Lieutenant.

"That's all!?!" said Ricardo. "I'd like to see you take out eight X-Wings while
flying a TIE Fighter, that barely has a hull, while a Correlian Corvette is firing on you!"
