Golden Tug 2002 - Best XvT battle of 2001, Best XvT technical realization of 2001, Best XvT briefings of 2001
Simple, short, straightforward and highly enjoyable ! Four quick missions that have you participating in a capital ship on capital ship brawl for the first three, and defending one from waves of fighters for the fourth.
My hundred and fourteenth battle in the TIE Corps.
Fairly basic missions that aren't too bad to complete. They can be quite a bit of fun as you see who would win in essentially a fleet battle. Unlike the horrible SWS fleet battles though, these are actually designed to be much better.
I played on Easy. This was a very quick set of missions. I appreciate that you get to play as a few different craft in these missions. They seemed fairly well designed and I had fun playing them, even though they were over pretty quickly.
A reasonable battle with some well thought out combat sequences in my opinion. You may want to mix up the default selections that the designer has you sitting in, in order to expedite the battle (e.g. go for the GUN in mission 1 and destroy the cruiser yourself).
THis battle seems like a great big team battle for pvp. otherwise single player is pretty good, make sure to pick the right ships for each mission, otherwise youll have a hard time trying to win against the capital ships
A job well done. Maybe some time down the line we can actually try this as a PvP. Not sure how they got it to work with 8 players back in the day. Even now we struggle to do any form of multiplayer with 4 players!
Very good battle. The plotline is somewhat simple but achieves to deliver a good atmosphere. The missions are well balanced and can be approached from a variety of roles and fighters, accordingly available to the player, which is plus that shows flexibility and care for the pilot. Only one mission felt a bit nonsensical since it involved some endless dogfighting, and I chose the wrong ship for it. Besides this minor detail, the battle is excellent and definitely one to play again in my list.
I was never in the ASF during its heyday, so most of this went over my head. However, it's a well designed battle aside from some annoying stealth missiles, and it was nice to see clubs that are still alive and kicking (Renegade Wing, Gray Squadron, Rebel Squadrons) included.
This is a super fun, well-designed battle. I was great for SP and must have been great for 4v4 back in the day. I can't vouch for the goals being balanced for the teams, but the missions felt better than the stock scenarios that come with XvT.
What a fantastic battle! ;P Something to keep in mind on this one is that its made as a combat battle for 4vs4 multiplay and this means that the goal of the missions is to be _very_ balanced (in both forces and points), as to give both rebels and EH an even chance on winning. This means that vs an ASF wing you'll get a rebel wing, a squad vs a squad etc. Since its based on the ASF that'll get you at least 3 missions with the 3 wings... which will make them look simmular indeed. For the rest the goal was to make it as complete as could be and IMHO that has definitely worked out :D
To many of the mission are too similar, and battle becomes tedious after a while. The sound/voices are great, but more effort should have gone into making the missions different. The orders could also do with some refining. The battle is still worth flying
Nice Battle!!!!
Great Battle!!!!!!!!
The battle is great! Variety of (similar) :) missions which weren't too hard, but with a good idea. Heh, and it rocks to hear your own voice! :P And Rebel Squadrons get what they deserve. :D
Thats is such a dog fight in the first mission put it on hard and away you go it is like a 40 minute dogfight 1 tip for rookies dont target the mon cal and it cant launch missiles at you :) This Battle was great a marvelous dogfight trainier Big thumbs up

FCHG NOTE: ---------- TAC won't let you fly Combat Missions or XWA Skirmishes for FCHG Points, use the Single player mission for all TC flying outside of combat competitions. Story Line ---------- MISSION 1: "ISD Vanguard vs CRS Liberty" The ISD Vanguard of the TIE Corps had planned for a training operation with the Aggressor Strike Force elite squadron as their sparring partner. The CRS Liberty of the Renegade Wing had been in contact with Alliance HQ about getting resupplied on foodstuffs, water and an amount of smallarms for the footsoldiers onboard. No problem you'd say - except that the location and time for both operations was exactly the same: The Antjeh Deeps. It was a miracle of navigation that both ships didn't hit each other frontally on coming back into real space. Not being prepared for the confrontation, both started to retreat back into hyperspace, but that would take time - in which their contacts would arrive too, unknowingly into hostile territory... First Strike Policies on both sides now have created a situation where both ships have launched all of their fighters - and bombers. MISSION 2: "Avenger Squadron vs Gray Squadron" Imperial Squadron Avenger and Rebel Squadron Gray face off in an asteroid field near the Minos Cluster. Both are equiped with a VSD Command ship and X-Wing Bombers! Which Squadron will survive with its Command ship still intact? And how many fighters will that cost? MISSION 3: "ISD Intrepid vs. ISD Chimaera" After the Empire's fall from its set of power on Coruscant, and the following Rebel take-over, many individuals struck out on their own, determined to carve their own little niche of power in the Galaxy... this was called the "Time of the Warlords", all calling themselves Grand Admiral and the true Heir of the Empire. In these times it became not uncommon for Imperial fractions to battle amongst eachother over even the most trivial things, but usually just to keep the other party down. This is the Battle of Jah'Ree, where the "Galactic Empire" attacked a weapons lab working mostly for "the Emperor's Hammer". The independent weaponslab called in for EH help and now you've got two equally equipped Stardestroyers battling it out. Can the EH stop the GE attack or will the GE liberate the region from a bit more EH influence? MISSION 4: "Rebel Squadrons Attack the ISD Grey Wolf" The Imperial Star Destroyer Grey Wolf is being attacked by six squadrons of Rebel starfighters while awaiting the arrival of BGCOM Cyric. Prevent serious damage to the Grey Wolf or it will have to flee and Cyric will be most displeased! NOTE ------------------- You need the XvT (or at least all the ships involved there), as far as i know no other patches are needed. To fly in Combat all players need the same version, make sure you all have the update by lucasarts installed. For the XWA skirmishes you need XWA, if you want to fly the Capital Ships you'd need to updated Shiplist file. To fly in Combat just the host needs to have it installed, make sure you all have the update by lucasarts installed. Soundfragments ----------------- Voice acting by The Z, Tarkin, Brucmack, Dae, Dax Corrin, Strahd, Death, Hev Randrowan, jdf1984, Duncan Idaho, Damon Kast, Wes Janson, Tomaas Banys, Kyle, Kyle Katarn...
