Played on easy with cheats, it was okay. Nothing really aggravated me, pretty straightforward goals.

Played on easy with full cheats. I don't really like the rebel fighter patch as I find the controls too twitchy. Ok missions.

Starts out promissing. Mission 3 is a bit bugged. Gun Boats that are supposed to disable the target crash themselves into the latter. Generally nice and brief story line and quick missions.

This battle was pretty good. Cohesive story that tied the missions together pretty well. Missions were overall balanced and fun. The last mission was very ambitious and worked reasonably well for what they were going for.

This was certainly a fast battle, if very good and entertaining. Despite its eight mission mark, it's actually pretty fluid and quite easy really, at least on medium when I played it. It's got a decent storyline that flows very nicely, and everything's done fairly well, if a little heavy handed in sections (i.e. Tyrannians is not very subtle :P). The missions are fun and very fast paced, and as others have commented, it would make a great competition battle. It's very easy, I must say, however, but that's not such a bad thing after you've flown a torrent of missions with A-Wings with Adv. Missiles coming at you. I'd recommend it for a fun battle that breezes by.

This battle was nominally difficult, but it let you rack up a lot of kills and points quickly. I would suggest this for points and FCHG competitions, but not for a challenge.

Nice competitive battle, some parts are choppy as in there are no "backup" ships for ones that are needed and are destroyed....

ENCOUNTER AT DAR'TELIS An emanation of light can be seen from Tyrannus indicating an efficient alien civilization (see Systems Manual 1.3 for more info). However, all attempts to closely study the planet and its life have been met by the capturing of scout craft and probes, leaving Imperial reports of the planet sketchy. Until now. Mission 1: Tyrannians: First Encounter The GA has instructed M/CRV Phantom to conduct a quick reconnaisance mission to locate our missing probes that have been captured by an unknown civilization in the Dar'Telis System. Sensor sweeps of our probes' last known coordinates have indicated that large amounts of asteroids are in the vicinity. Sensors have also found that metallic signatures are nearby, indicative of large ships. Mission Goals: You are to inspect all craft within the area in an attempt to find our missing probes. If our probes are captured or disabled, destroy them. We cannot allow this new civilization to use or study our craft. After you have completed the primary goals M/CRV Phantom will arrive to pick you up. (for more info, see mission goals. ["G" key]) What craft will I be flying? You will fly a TIE Defender designated as DEEP RECON. You will have one wingman in your flight group. For this mission you have been given all materials necessary to defend yourself. These include 16 adv. concussion missiles and a beam weapon. Opposition? Little is known about this area of space. Take extreme caution. Mission 2: Tyrannians: A Desperate Situation Since our last encounter with the Tyrannians, the GA was uneasy over what to do about the TIE Defender that was disabled. He had given orders to the Corporate Division to construct a cloaking device on a single Assault Transport. This transport is to maintian a close orbit with planet Tyrannus to monitor all actions by the Tyrannians. This transport had been taken to the Dar' Telis System by the Modified Interdictor Harpax II. However, upon exiting hyperspace the Interdictor's sheilds were damaged by half when it collided into the scattered asteroid fields of Dar'Telis. Unable to risk going into hyperspace and losing the rest of its shields, Harpax II, has put its engines to all stop and is beginning quick repairs. During the repairs, the modified ATR designated as BOLD was deployed. Mission Goals: If possible, you are to protect the M/INT HARPAX II. However, if you or any of your wingmen are attacked by Tyrannian fighters, protect yourself and your wingmen. The GA doesn't want to risk losing anymore fighter craft. (press the "G" key for more info). What craft will I be flying? Since the most powerful fighters aboard Harpax II are TIE Defenders, you will be the flight leader of 6 TIE Defenders designated as DELTA. You have been given 16 adv. concussion missiles and a tractor beam weapon. Use them wisely! Opposition? The only Tyrannian craft known were the ones you saw in our last mission. Expect anything. Mission 3: Tyrannians: Point of opportunity It has been over a week since ATR BOLD was deployed and M/INT HARPAX II was captured. The GA was extremely cocerned when he recieved the news about the Interdictor. He has sought the help of the only Tyrannian that lives outside of Dar'Telis, VA Dactyl of MPLT-FAC HAVEN. After the GA had discussed the situation , VA Dactyl volunteered to infiltrate Tyrannian forces using a Tyrannian flagship and fighter to find our Interdictor. Just a few hours ago ATR BOLD was monitoring all activities coming from Tyrannus until it came up against something quite interesting. A lone NR Light Calamari Cruiser entered the Dar'Telis system and began firing upon a Tyrannian Dreadnaught. Since both of the forces are preoccupied with one another, timing is of the essence. The GA has ordered a single Spectre Missileboat to drive off the NR Cruiser with torpedos and to disable the Tyrannian Dreadnaught. Afterwords, the M/CRV PHANTOM will arrive to capture the Dreadnaught. Mission Goals: We must capture this Dreadnaught to retrieve our M/INT Harpax II. First, you will have to drive off that Light Calamari that is currently attacking the Dreadnaught. After the Calamari enters hyperspace, you are to disable the Dreadnaught and destroy any remaining Tyrannian and Rebel fighters. Afterwards, you are to inspect a few Tyrannian containers that have been sighted not far from the engagement. We expect that something in those containers are what brought the Light Calamari here. The M/CRV Phantom will arrive to capture the Dreadnaught and pick you up. What craft will I be flying? The GA asked for a Spectre Missileboat to take care of the situation. Unfortunately, we only have a standard Missileboat available. For this mission, you have been loaded with a standard load of 30 Advanced Torpedos and 40 Advanced Concussion Missiles. Opposition? There are several Rebel and Tyrannian fighters that are fighting amongst themselves. Once they are finished they will probably aim at you. Other than that take care in driving off the Calamari and disabling the Dreadnaught. Mission 4: Tyrannians: IW's new flagship The captured Dreadnaught, Deathwing, has been taken to MPLT-FAC Haven where it is under repair. The GA has directed AD Striker, Commodore of the IW, to direct an operation to recapture the M/INT Harpax II. Being the only Tyrannian outside of Dar'Telis, VA Dactyl has begun training a crew to fly the Dreadnaught and the Tyrannian R-41s back to Tyrannus. During a routine training session the same Light Calamari that we engaged back at Dar'Telis is on its way toward us. We expect they want to keep the Dreadnaught out of Imperial hands. Mission Goals: VA Dactyl's orders are plain and simple: Destroy the Light Calamari and all the Rebel craft it launches so that the Dreadnaught can leave without being followed. What craft will I be flying? Since the Haven is also a training facitlity it has only one wing of IW pilots that are prepared for this situation. But we have a surprise waiting for the Calamari. Two Tyrannian R-41s will assist the single wing of Emerald Squadron pilots. You will fly one of them, designated as Talon 1. You will have one wingman. Opposition? We expect the Light Calamari to have fewer starfighters than usual since it lost some craft in the engagement at Dar'Telis. Expect X-wings, B-wings, and A-wings. Mission 5: Tyrannians: Dactyl returns home VA Dactyl has returned to Dar'Telis. Remaining inconspicous, Dactyl has trained a crew of IW pilots in flying the newly-captured Tyrannian Dreadnaught, DEATHWING back to Tyrannus. In an effort to recapture the M/INT Harpax 2, VA Dactyl has decided to inflitrate Tyrannian Outpost 122 (T/O 122) which has been the scene of an Imperial engagement the past month. Mission Goals: You are to escort VA Dactyl's starfighter (TALON 1) to the hangar of Tyrannian Outpost 122. Afterwords, enter hyperspace immediately or you will be under heavy fire as soon as the Tyrannians realize you haven't entered the Outpost's hangar. What craft will I be flying? You will fly a Tyrannian R-41 desiganted TALON 2. VA Dactyl will be your flight leader. You will have no warheads in this mission since the presence of warheads will arouse suspicion among the Tyrannians. Opposition? The R-41s you and VA Dactyl are flying were found aboard DREAD DEATHWING when we captured it some weeks ago. There were four R-41s left aboard and their flight group name was TALON. As soon as the Tyrannians have identified you, they will know that your are from DREAD DEATHWING. They will also probably notice that your IFF code from the R-41s are a little different than their own. The Tyrannian IFF code is hard to duplicate. Let VA Dactyl do the talking. As soon as the Tyrannians have noticed you haven't entered their hangar right away they will destroy you. Tyrannians follow strict orders and if you don't carry them out they assume you are obsolete and must be taken care of. Mission 6: Tyrannians: The rescue It has been almost two weeks since we have dropped VA Dactyl off at Tyrannian Outpost 122. He has been giving deeply secured radio messages to DREAD DEATHWING which the Tyrannians now think has been destroyed. The good news is that Dactyl has run across a huge database containing all the flight orders of all Tyrannian flagships of the Dar'Telis system. Looking through them, he has located where M/INT Harpax 2 has been taken. In approximately 6 days the Harpax 2 will begin its first Tyrannian mission. Its first mission is to prevent a Rebel Frigate that has mysteriously drifted into Tyrannian space from escaping. VA Dactyl wishes to start immediately in recapturing Harpax 2 because the Tyrannians have begun building new Interdictors just by studying ours. A rescue operation for VA Dactyl will be initiated at once. With the help of AD Doomsday and M/CRV PHANTOM, we will be given Missileboats for use in the operation. Mission Goals: You are to destroy Tyrannian outpost 122 and the single DREAD guarding it. VA Dactyl has been discovered as a spy and has sabotaged the outpost's shielding system. He has taken a copy of the Harpax 2's flight orders and will depart on a Tyrannian Scout Capture Craft. As soon as the Outpost is under attack VA Dactyl, will exit the outpost hangar and fly aboard DREAD Deathwing which is on its way here. As soon as Dactyl exits the hangar he most likely fall under heavy fire by outpost's laser turrets. Use your jamming beam to protect him until you can effectively destroy the outpost. What craft will I be flying? You will fly a Missleboat designated as DEEP RECON 1 you will have 4 other wingmen. You have been given a double load of adv. proton torpedos and adv. concussion missiles. You will have a jamming beam aboard which will help you protect VA Dactyl's ship from attack. You are also to protect our DREAD Deathwing in the event it falls under attack. Opposition? Since this Outpost has fallen under several attacks by us, fighter reserves must be low. The Commander of the Outpost has ordered Guardian 2 to bring more fighters in from Tyrannus. As a result, the outpost has only one DREAD currently guarding it. Mission 7: Tyrannians: Fight for Harpax 2 Using the database VA Dactyl stole from the outpost, we now know the scheduled orders and precise location of our stolen Interdictor. However, a Rebel Frigate has drifted into the area and is currently being disabled for capture. The Harpax 2 is supposed to prevent this frigate from escaping and once it is captured it will depart. We must work quickly. Mission Goals: You are to hyperspace into the area and (if not too late) disable the Interdictor. If we are late (which is likely since the Dar'Telis system is congested with asteroids) you are to destroy all Tyrannian fighters in the area that are attacking the Rebel fighters. After the Rebel fighters have left, destroy the Rebel frigate the Tyrannians have captured. We may not recapture the Interdictor but we will reduce the number of Tyrannian fighters and destroy a Rebel frigate at the same time. What craft will I be flying? You will fly DEEP RECON 2 of a 5 TIE Defender flight group. Your craft has been loaded with a double armanent of heavy rockets. Mission 8: Tyrannians: The Final Assault We have relocated the Harpax 2 at a Tyrannian defense research and development facilty. The Harpax 2 has come to this facilty where scientists will make their final analysis on the Modified Interdictor design. At the same time, the Tyrannian facility has built two new Interdictor starships. Upon recieving this news, the SSSD and a few Star Destroyers are on their way here from the Lantare system. For right now, the GA has ordered VA Dactyl and AD Doomsday to begin the capture of Harpax 2 and the seizure of the new Interdictors. Once we enter the area we will be on our own since the gravity well projectors of the Interdictors will keep us from entering hyperspace. This will probably be your longest and most perilous mission in the Dar'Telis system ever. Mission Goals: You are to disable Harpax 2 and protect AD Domsday as he captures Harpax 2 and the other Interdictors. You are also to destroy all Tyrannian starfighters that enter the area. Once Frigate Ka'Tal arrives, it will begin launching bombers to destroy the defense facility and any Tyrannian starships that decide to join the fight. If we run out of bombers, you will help destroy the Tyrannian starships also. (for more info see mission goals. "G" key.) What craft will I be flying? You will fly Deep Recon 1 in a group of three Missileboats. Your craft has been modified to carry an Ion cannon. You will be loaded with a double armanent of 60 Advanced Proton Torpedos and 80 Advanced Concussion Missiles. Opposition? This will be the largest raid in Tyrannian Territory. Expect all kinds of starships and their fighters. These include DREADs, CRKCs, ESCs, T-R41s, and T-wings.
