The premise is good, and it has a solid plot, but there are dozens of bugs and bizarre issues that plague this battle. For some reason most of the radio messages are all taken from various XvT vanilla missions and aren't original. A lot of the mission design is also quite lazy (Naming every craft in the mission Blue, no mission complete message, being able to issue enemy craft orders, few secondary/bonus goals, far too many craft used at the same time).

Played on easy. Really enjoyed the story and how it ties into the XWA story. Got to support the Challenge

Pretty good battle overall. No issues, everything worked as intended for me. Good story and I always love seeing the Challenge in game!

I enjoyed this one! Appreciate the well balanced difficulty levels; Easy is Easy, Medium is Mediumish (maybe still a bit easy), Hard is... well, Hard! But it's a fun look at activities by a classic Challenge squadron during the events of ESB.

Quick little battle with simply structured straight forward missions. There is a little story line as well.

This battle is one hard bone to gnaw. Missions are well designed and laid-out flawlessly. In hard level, dogfighting in a GUN is going to prove a real challenge against missile shooting A-Ws and T-Ws. Player will find a very demanding battle with some missions on the brink of frustrating. For hardcore pilots. If you want an easy day at the beach, check elsewhere. But if you want a nice challenge, fly it on hard level. You have been warned!

Played this on hard. The briefing is excellent and the story reasonably well-crafted. There is some failing on the orders of the enemy craft (several missions esp the ones you have a decoy beam) and in one mission of the friendly craft. It is enjoyable but XvT is unforgiving. A good battle overall and I can see from the timings of some craft that its creator tried to design the scenario well. The only failing is some of the orders of the enemy craft. In addition, mission #2 exceeds the craft limit and as a result one flight group does not appear on hard. Reported it as a bug.

Fun missions. The duration and difficulty level was just about right when I played on medium. On hard was a different story...so many missiles!!! I was dreading yet another 'Kill the rebels escaping Hoth' scenario, but this battle was different and interesting. I loved the appearance of some familiar names from XWA and getting to blow them up because they are troublemakers. I also enjoyed the variety of craft (unshielded interceptor, missile boat and TIE/advanced) and the different roles from inspection to assault so it didn't get repeative or boring. There is lots of inspection and you have to hustle to get the objectives at times so that made it challenging.

This battle was pretty fun! I took one point off for making me fly an Assault Gunboat. That is always a detractor from what was otherwise a good battle. I swear, those things are like flying pregnant yaks. I thought the story was a bit boring as the aftermath of the Battle of Hoth has been a bit done to death. Also, that inspection mission (I think mission 4? I forgot. I’m hungover) was pretty seriously frustrating with mag pulse torpedoes flying everywhere and me only being able to move like 10 feet at a time before being hit by another. Also, the stuff I was supposed to capture kept getting blown to bits and I could not figure out why for a while...once I did, I had to tell everyone to ignore them and I concentrated on them myself so we would not keep failing the mission. Overall good battle!

This battle was fun and reasonably challenging on Medium for the first three missions, although I do not usually enjoy inspection missions when the enemy are spamming Mag Pulses. Mission 4 was a letdown brought about by the Space Bombs flying everywhere - if you do not kill the Y-Wings, you'll lose the mission at the same time you win it.

I played on Easy. This was a decent battle. The missions were all varied and it wasn't just an endless stream of bad guys. It was very easy on Easy, except for the mission where you have to inspect containers. For some reason, the capture objectives kept getting destroyed and I couldn't tell from where. Other than that, not a bad mission.

I enjoyed this- I was able to focus mostly on blowing apart enemy ships, which is what I like to do so I had a lot of fun here.

This is ONE COOL Battle... although you fly in old Ties and Gunboats are considered "state of the art", it is a journey to a better time, when the Empire was in power and the coolest thing was to look 80ish...

This is a historic look at situation in and around the Hoth system, time period is a few months before the attack on Echo Base. XWA owners will recognise some of teams used, the missions were not designed to leave the player combating alone against overwhelming odds, but more the integration of team work. I've tried to cover most aspects from the XvT game from 'Inspection to Heavy assault. Please enjoy, any and all feed back is welcome.

Mission 1: No mission complete message. Goal about protecting ISD Challenge appears twice in the CMD. Message about more fighters joining the party is the incorrect colour in the CMD. Goal to prevent destruction of the Challenge is nonsensical since it leaves immediately at the start of the mission and then returns, but no Rebel craft are ordered to attack it. All allied craft including the Conveyor and ISD Challenge can be issued orders. Mission can be trivialized by ordering the Conveyor home at the start of the mission. Rebel craft destroyed total only adds up to 96% if the conveyor isn't disabled, and if it is it adds up to 104%. TRN Inferno should have ISD Challenge as a mothership. All Rebel craft are missing names and are only given numbers to identify them.
Mission 2: 6 ATR's are provided when only three are needed, since no rebel fighters are ordered to attack them. All Rebel craft are missing names and are only given numbers to identify them. No mission complete message. Due to the presence of too many nav buoys/ATR's craft limit is exceeded. All allied craft can be issued orders, all rebel craft missing names. Gunboat group Alpha only arrives if 50% of the first wave of Cyclone comes and goes, but Cyclone only has one wave.
Mission 3: No Mission complete message. Imperial losses too high spelled incorrectly. Your spelled incorrectly in secondary goals. All imperial craft are on players' radio, as are all azzameen cargo craft. Corvette, R-41 & T-Wing missing names. On less than hard ISD Corrupter is Blue in the IFF which is for neutral craft but it is Imperial and can be issued orders. Flight groups Corrupter, Challenge & Azzameen have Arr/Dep trigger errors. Far more than 32 craft exist simultaneously resulting in numerous issues. Strike Cruiser Defiance has go home orders in the wrong spot so instead of going home it holds steady, as does the Dread Flamgoo. Flamgoo never arrives duo to too many craft existing at the same time. All rebel starfighters and azzameen cargo craft except the conveyors are missing go home orders meaning that after the platform is captured they will head to their exit point and fly in circles. Imperial losses is a goal but a loss % is not specified in the goals screen. Once the platform is captured the Challenge will disable it over and over and the ATR's will capture it over and over.
Mission 4: No mission complete message. Far more than 32 craft exist at the same time. FG Avenger has arrival/departure trigger orders. All Imperial craft except the challenge are on the player's radio. Bonus goal for inspecting and destroying ESC group Blue set to 0 points. Mission incorrectly identified as a free mission in mission description. Brackets not removed for capital ships in the description. CRV group Blue has orders to fly flight plan but has no waypoints so they remain steady.

On Mission #2 - Omicron 7 will take the container regardless of whether or not its disabled (causing a mission failed if it wasn't disabled beforehand). Likely should drop the disable container goal or update Omicron 7's orders to not arrive/board until the container has been disabled.
There's also some issues in Mission #4's briefing with missing lines of text, spots without text, etc.
2021-04-20
In Mission #2, the craft limit of 32 is reached when the TWs and AWs appear from scouting and getting shot repectively). As a result the XWs never show up or if they do then the AWs dont show up due to the craft limit getting exceeded. This can be easily fixed by reducing the number of containers by four (as this does not really affect the mission)
2009-04-16
Mission 3: ATR Omega and ISD Challenge disable the Azzameen platform again after it has been captured.
