For a battle this long I expect some kind of variety - some reason for it to not be a free battle. This just feels like variations on a theme. The first and last missions are essentially, if not exactly, the same. The middle is packed with missions that are nearly identical as well, and there's really nothing that stands out from any one of them. The 'gate' concept is OK, but there's nothing to back it up. The story is so thin, the mission briefings are often one or two lines of text, and the in-flight goals are often vague. That said, this isn't the hardest battle ever (I played on easy though), and it was relatively quick, so I can recommend it for the points.
I flew this as part of Raise the Flag competition 2021. Overall, the battle seemed straightforward with no major hang-ups. There is not much to say about it. It was fun but the battle did not contain any elements that makes it stand out from nearly every other battle you have ever flown.
A fairly enjoyable mission with a reasonably compelling plot, that unfortunately is let down by some missions being ridiculously easy and one mission being incredibly tedious. A solid three out of five.
I played on Easy. The missions were fairly easy and quick, but then you run across a mission where you have to kill 100 starfighters and that's a bit tedious. Other than that, the missions were designed fairly decently and were enjoyable.
Mission 7 had you go up against like 50 fighters. It got to be a bit long. Other than that the missions are pretty straight forward. A good mix of dogfighting and objective destroying. That's about it, nothing crazy here.
This is a highly enjoyable battle to fly. A perfect example of a battle that gets the basics right! Don't let the number of missions deter you. There is enough variation a decent storyline and plenty of things to shoot at. It lends itself also as a great COOP battle, so for those interested in COOP, give this a go. I am interested to return to this one and try the highscore experience too... It is worth flying it.
Excellent battle. Another example of how a long campaign can be engaging and fun to fly. Player has a variety of roles, from dogfighting to heavy bombing, and most of the burden is laid upon the back of the warmule, aka the Assault Gunship, which is always a pleasure to fly. It may seem frightening to play such a long assignment, but it's worth the try. And in the meantime you will relive the glorious days of the might ISD Grey Wolf and his people. A true pleasure.
Delightful for me personally for purely nostalgic reasons, this is also a perfectly sharp collection - not something you can often say about a 9 mission battle. This covers a campaign of the ISD Grey Wolf and you get the chance to fly as each squadron in a variety of roles.
I found this to be a well balanced battle and enjoyed the dogfighting aspects of the battle. Well i just like to kill rebels anyway;p.
Well divided, I didn't feel like I was doing the same crap over and over again. It did seem unnecessarily drawn out, though, perhaps a little less "realistic" than i would have liked... The "Gate" deal was a nice thought, but in 3-D space doesn't hold much water...
I found the Battle contained some good idea's - the mission's seemed to flow and work well with each other. The battle could have easily been ten missions long, and with the time saved from the normal loading of 2X 5 missions battles it's well worth a flight. Score 3.5
