Oh Beef. While I appreciate the effort that goes into putting 30 missions together, this really should have been broken up by the included chapters into multiple battles. Everything worked as intended, even if you did have to some times figure out the right order to do things in. Overall, pretty good if a little long.
The story is subtle and well thought, only it is so long up to the point of insanity and irritation. The briefings are something I had never seen before until Lord of the TIEs, with extreme mastery of the TFW. But it's so long you have to rely on steel nerves or time on the side to complete it. A shorter battle would have been the masterpiece Beef had given to the TC.
Creative, but way too long, hard to figure out what is going on in each mission. Mission 26 is nearly impossible even while using unlimited ammo and invulnerability because the freighters hyper out so quickly and the ATR's will die if you don't get the interceptors quickly. All I can say is that I'm glad its over and I didn't get stuck not being able to complete it after spending the time one 20 or so missions. Break this up!
Well... that was... an experience. I gave it two points. Technically, it was incredible. So many hugely inventive ideas, some of which my version of TF struggled with (vanishing ships in big bases). The narrative was top notch. However, it was just so, so frustrating! Never had a battle where simply surviving a mission seemed such an achievement. In a short battle, that would be fine, but at 30 missions it became too much of a slog, and ended up not being much fun - hence the lower score. That said, anyone wanting to learn to make battles, fly this one. Lots of inspiration and creativity!
This battle, along with the early CABs, proves that bigger doesn't mean better. Beef spent too much time on the plotline and the fancy bases, and made missions that suck in all kinds of ways. Avoid if you don't like having to capture fighters, protect fighters and generally not understand what's going on.
Sorry, I didn't find this to be an enjoyable flying experience & in at least 1/4 missions the player craft would not turn or respond correctly.
Wow! Lots of great little TFW tricks here. I liked the story and thought it was well done. The Intel part seemed a bit forced, but made up for it with that sweet mission where u where basically hostile with your wingmen and enemies. The MIS with the escape pod was cool too, as was several other unforgetable missions. It was a bit hard in parts and I really didn't like that one where you have to take on a FRG and a squad of fighter in a shuttle. It isn't ridiculously hard or anything, it just seemed a bit much. Well worth the time and effort.
Sorry not my types of mission - Big isn't always best.
Awesome Battle! It has many frustrating semi-bugs, however if you encounter one then just keep trying the mission. It all works. There are some awesome new and fresh ideas in it, quite amazing things, you will definately enjoy this long battle.
COL Beef strikes again, for the last time it seems, but what a way to go! A super-long 'battle' that actually replaces the first 5 battles in the game. Add to that an excellent story line (read the briefing!), the fact that every mission is different, some imaginative use of different ships and containers to make *very large* structures and the chance to fly some not normally flyable ships and you have an outstanding example of what can be done if you make the effort.
I played this battle as a tester and let me say this is the single best battle(s) ever! This epic takes place over 30 missions, but it's well worth the time it takes to play it. This battle offers new ships to fly, totally new and inovative ways to play TIE Fighter, an engaging storyline, new "ships" and "stations" done through superb architecture, and much more that I won't write about in this review.
Very good battle. What makes it special is the fact that you get a lot of differentkinds of missions. Each mission is varied and the storyline really encourages you to keep on going. Good job!
This battle is incredible. I've been flying EH battles for many years now, and this is THE best one I've seen. If this does not win battle of the decade, it's a crime. The story line is engaging and full of twists; the mission construction is first-rate, with, many, many innovations and great touches. You fly a SHU, T/Fs, T/Bs, and even T/Ds without shields -- you name it! Stupendously fun! I salute Colonel Beef!
Jusus this battle is so long..long , difficult , buged also i saw like 5 times when ships crashed eached other ..anyway on easy this battle is more difficult then some battles i played on hard..comon i am on 26 or 27 mission and i hate this battle already
Good news for TIE-CDers; I just made and submitted a patch for TIECD to enable you to fly the SHU. Keep coming back and hope that SCO has approved it. Once it's approved, I'll edit this review. ======= As for using invincible crafts, this battle sure uses a lot of them. I'm in the school of "not using invincible crafts" as certain pilots know how to exploit them for mission high scores. Also, the use of TRN is very annoying: There should be a ban on having the player fly a TRN! This would've gotten a 5 if it weren't for the pervasive use of invincibles and TRN.
I always thought battles with more than 10 missions had to be boring, poorly designed and full of the same kill-em-all mission over and over again with only the starships' names changed... until I flew this battle. If you're looking for a real test of your skills: Fly this one! If you're looking for a battle with a great plotline: Fly this one!! If you're looking for a battle full of innovations and always wanted to fly a TRN: Fly this one!!! Great job, Beef!
One of the most fun story-driven battles I've played. Yes, it's long, and tricky in places, but nearly every mission tells an integral part of the story. Tons of new technical tricks that worked very well for me. A fitting (hopefully temporary) farewell from COL Beef.
Very good but also very long battle. Some times hard and frusterating. lots of new tech stuff I hadn´t seen in TIE yet, like ejecting cockpit, flying Shuttles etc..6 battles.. :P Longest battle I ever flown Some Minor bugs, if you encounter them just retry. All in all, a battle you should fly

B5M2 (I think) took nearly 10 tries between the difficulty of the mission (very easy to run out of time to get the Freighters, you have to do it all because your allies are pretty useless) and the bugs (mission critical ships destroying themselves by collision, seemingly at random)
2014-03-31
The mission requiring you to destroy 100% of both Imperial factions is incredibly annoying. It took me several attempts to finish because several flight groups have orders to fly home when they become damaged.

In the Readme that comes with the mission it tells you to uninstall the Transports patch after the third battle; this will not do because it is also used in later missions. The patch must not be removed until the entire battle is done.

In B3M3, talking to the flight officer crashes the game, both before the mission and after. This is reproducable (TIE-95, EHSP, Transports).
In the same mission, there is a tug called "reload" that doesn't actually reload. It appears when you run out of missiles, and it also will dock with you, but it won't give you any new warheads.
