Nice battle. Especially the last mission takes some tactics to achieve it (in time).
This review is part of rtf 2021, i played this with cheats (as usual) and had a great time flying. The missions are well written and the objectives are clear and concise. Had no issues with anything game related and will try this one again for sure
Overall a hard battle but not impossible, though it gets a bit tedious with the endless waves of soon-to-be slaughtered A-Wings. Also if someone wants to break the hiscores, be prepared for a dull laser shooting at the structures. Finally, the missile shooting mines, packed with advanced missiles, in the last mission, were at the very least, a bit excessive...
The story and narrative are pretty sparse, although you can get the general gist of it. That said, and maybe it's just because I spent time with this trying to high score, I really enjoyed the mission design. Lots of little surprises and gotchas, some that seemed very much deliberately designed for high scoring scenarios. Not sure if that was deliberate or not, but either way it felt pretty cool to think my way through each mission in terms of maximizing my score. Also, fair warning - if you play on Hard, you're going to see more A-Wings than you ever thought reasonable. :P
If you love ripping through Z95s, call in the Ewok! For bashing X-Wings, dial Medium and if you hate A-Wings then go hard. So far all the missions I have flown that were created by Dempsey were varied and fun. I am glad to say this one doesn't disappoint either. The Briefing Officer is somewhat laconic, but I think most people would prefer it that way. She does try to prevent the player from destroying certain ships but... if you try hard enough you can do it ;) Overall, an enjoyable experience though Mission #3, should you choose to fight your way through all those A-Wings, it does become a bit of a borefest. 40(?) A-wings. Somewhere there. Chasing the high score becomes a nice distraction.
A well done battle, with different missions and goals. Perhaps the only downside of this battle is low variety when it comes to craft selection for the opponents. They are not as bad as their rolling counterpart of XWA, but I'm really fed up with A-Wings!
The battle was a good one. The plot was simple, yet interesting. The missions are well done, without any bugs whatsoever. Some missions are quite easy, while others require skills and good timing. Well done!
Played this battle on medium. A couple of the missions were troublesome until I realized I should be switching over to missiles and targeting some warhead launchers and laser turrets to vastly simplify the approach. The last mission was weird as there were many X-Wings flying around in very tight formations but they never shoot. However they do try to ram you which is quite annoying. Overall each mission had an ok map briefing but the tactical officer briefing was either a duplicate of the map briefing or fairly devoid of content.
Plays well. My only gripe would be Mission 4. I recommend mostly ignoring the B-wings and taking out all of the laser turrets and missile launchers on the various platforms. A missile reload would have also been really helpful.
Kinda easy even on hard. Its very hard to fail the missions. Some targets that can be destroyed will appear in next missions.
But overall its nice and fun battle without any bugs.
