Battle Reviews

Now that I am up to date with 'One battle a week', time to ease the throttle off and conduct much more detailed reviews

Mission 01: Space Quake at Brentaal 4/5
Nice simple TIE Advanced 'protect the ships awaiting boarding' mission, with added difficulty of an incoming bomber attack. Radio logs add a little interest to the plot, and the briefing is clear and informative. No bugs are readily apparent. Only suggestion I could offer is that with the amount of work going on, this could be a multiplayer mission (perhaps 4 players, one for each flight member), and perhaps the addition of audio files for the messages.

Mission 02: Fire on Platform Darkstar 4/5
Very similar to mission 01, briefing is clear and throughout description and briefing only a few typo errors. Despite concussion missile spam being thrown at me regularly, I thoroughly enjoyed it. No bugs are readily apparent and much like Mission 01 could be perhaps be made into a solid multiplayer mission for 4 players to try out on hard.

Mission 03: Pirate Attack on Starship Sightseer 3/5
Continuing the pattern of Mission 01, fly escort whilst an assault transport captures an enemy transport. No bugs readily apparent, and again could be made into an enjoyably solid 4 player+ mission due to the threat and need to spread yourself around the mission requires. Unlike the prior two though, can get annoying when you get missile spammed to death by Z-95's, hence the drop in score.

Mission 04: Whiping the Pirates Out 3/5
Aside from the (assumed) spelling error in the mission title, an enjoyable bug free albeit, lengthy mission slightly ruined by the missile spam nature of the enemies you face (I span for a good minute constant at one point with 5 missiles being lobbed in my direction. As with the pervious missions, someone should consider turning this into a 4 or 8 player mission, as there's plenty going on to keep folk busy in it. Unlike previous ones, the briefing was not clear and could do with some tidying up.

Mission 05: Destroy the Quake Implementation Generator 4/5
Run a space superiority mission while gunboats take out the primary target. Much like the prior missions, plenty to do (to the point that it could make a 4 or 8 player mission). Briefing could have been a little clearer in terms of your role, however good fun with no bugs to report.

Mission 06: The Last Hours of the Rebel Base 3/5
Assault on an enemy base with you taking point in the space superiority role. Standby for intermittent bouts of constantly spinning due to missile spam, but otherwise a solid mission.

Overall: 3.5/5 (Rounding Up to a 4)
Again, my only takeaway is that someone should remake this good battle as a as a multiplayer one, as there is plenty for 4 (or maybe even 8) on hard to do on most missions within and it would mitigate the godawful moments of enemy missile spam you encounter in single player.

I really liked this battle. It seemed well balanced so other Flight Groups were doing their job and you could focus in doing yours. The difficulty also seemed on point and doesn't get neither extremely easy nor hard so you need to keep an eye on different starships.

The plot is not amazing, as in it has nothing special on it, but it would be good enough to be on the same level than a battle from TIE-Fighter, which is not bad at all. The different missions, while not very different from one another, in general have a solid background. It's a bit of a shame that some FGs were not named seriously, which diminishes the background of the plot, but nothing someone cannot ignore.

After the current run I'm doing through the compendium, this battle definitely stood out for all the points mentioned above. I'm hoping to see more like this!

A fairly run-of-the-mill battle. 99% of this is dogfighting, with the only deviation being that of mopping up unexploded enemy cruisers or platforms. While nothing jumps out at me as being spectacular, I didn't run into any game breaking or mission failing bugs, so that is a plus!

An average set of missions, but which did feel very heavy on the 'kill endless waves of pirates' - keep an eye on what waves are attacking what critical ships, and you will be fine.

This a guilty pleasure battle. Just fly it for some brainless enjoyment, as it should be. :) Recommending to give it a go. Perhaps I'll try it on hard at a later date.

Fun and challenging. This battle has an average plotline and briefings, but it's still fun to fly. Use the bread-and-butter all around T/A to mostly protect operations and dogfight your way through. Only impractical thing was in a specific mission where a PLT has to be sunk after being captured, and doing it only on lasers was no fun at all, but nothing catastrophic either, as you find in the compendium from time to time. Worth a try.

This was a fun battle containing good dog fighting mission although They got a little repetitive at the end. Note: mission 4 it says you need to kill 67% of the enemies when in fact you need to kill 100%.

Now the fourth mision run OK,and the problem with the penaly points was corriged;good work

This battle Iike many others is a disappointment due to fact in seems that not much thought has been given towards, the enemy forces. Here you are either destroying the enemy so quickly and easily, and when an enemy arrives with 'teeth' it turns out much the same due to poor FG orders, the teeth just turn into gums.

Ick. While possibly good in original design, this battle lacks a LOT. The first thing I noticed about this battle was the absolute lack of any relation between the missions. It's kind-of like a haphazardly built collection of semi-decent FREEs. Next up - the complete lack of any Imperial values in this battle. Honestly, we're the Emperor's Hammer, not the Alliance Firefighting Platoon. >:P The messages left a lot to desire, the fact that your enemies all came loaded with missiles was annoying, and the goals were just pathetic. However, that being said, in design the battle is not bad, and offers a good challenge, while not too hard. ------------------------------ My appreciation decreases further, as I see a certain Brucmack has taken my HIGH SCORE! Noooooooo!

For the most part, I thoroughly enjoyed this battle. It has a good, original storyline that hasn't been done before, and the mission design worked. Worked, yes, only worked. Having enemy flight groups attack specific friendly groups (X-wings only attack T/As, T-Ws attack T/Is, Zs attack GUNz) takes away from the chaos of a battle situation and makes it too rigid. All missions were set up in this way, making them all feel similar even with different goals. Giving your bombers bombs is also a good idea, as I spent well over an hour lasering capships and asteroid batteries, which is no fun in a T/A. Overall though, good battle.

Ooh, what a creative, action-packed battle. We need more battles like this. ;)

Mission 4: Missions Object states that Platform XQ1 Pirate Base must be destroyed, but if it is destroyed too soon then Assault Trans Kickr cannot complete it’s mission (a different Primary Objective).

Thoroughout: Bad grammar\\spelling. Ok, now I know some people in the EH aren't native English speakers, but that doesn't mean we should have unreadable phrases that make the plot difficult to understand.

Mission 3: The objectives do not update correctly - 66% of pirate craft destroyed does not show as complete even when the percentage reaches 80%, and the pirate transport objective is not shown as failed if it is destroyed before capture.

Mission 5: At least one of the pirate asteroid laser batteries does not fire on the player and also attacks its own side.

Mission 6: Rebel MC80 cruiser does not seem to fire on the player craft.
