Battle Reviews

They're classic missions for a reason! Good to play through the Harkov arc with more modern graphics and sensibilities. I had no technical issues but did have fun.

I thoroughly enjoyed this. Having the played the battle reimagined was very well done. Some of the voice prompts didn't always come thru but aside from that, I have nothing bad to say about it. The uplift on the entire user interface is super crisp, I appreciate the added Shield, Hull, and System bars on the targeted craft. It makes it a lot easier to tell for me, using only a laptop. The added cosmetics of the hyperspace sequence *chef's kiss*.

I really enjoyed this battle. The Avenger is a power trip to fly after all the time in T/F and T/I. I do hope that when Angel finishes the Rebalance pass he corrects the initial fighters to be friendlies until the betrayal.

One of my fav battles in the original.
Translates well. Looks pretty too. Pretty hard at parts tho.

Amazing job. The way B5M2 plays out was just great!

Only a 3 because I had to fly the last mission twice. The ATRs never arrived to capture the platform.

It's a terrific port of what is probably the best battle from the original TIE Fighter! What else is there to say? All the stars for this one!

(There was a bug preventing completion of the last mission for me in version 1.3, but an upgrade to 1.3.3 corrected it)

As someone who never got this far in the original TIE but knew roughly how the story went, it was really great to finally get to see how Harkov's treason went down. At first I bemoaned flying alone into a minefield, but when I realised it was a setup, it all made sense! Really fun mission, and great to FINALLY get into the cockpit of a T/A.

Another great remake of the original TIE Fighter battles. I have a problem with the last mission – it is a large furball and you really really need to follow instructions. As the INT gets taken down you really have to get near the platform to disable the three fleeing craft as you only have a few seconds before the hyper out and the mission is a failure. Don't get spooked by the missiles from the platform just point straight at them and laser them down. Took me something like 10 retries to get it done.

Every single battle of TFTC-R is an abolute masterpiece. As if the original TIE-Fighter was not one of the best games ever conceived, TFTC-R tops it - on every single mission. It is not only that the graphics, sound and joystick support cababilities were brought today's standards with underlying XWAU package. TFTC-Reimangined also set out to redisgn the original TF missions reimagining what they could have looked like if it wasn't for TF's 1994 engine limitations (e.g. only ~30 ships in space at any given time) yielding huge battles which truely make you feel as part of a mighty imperial war machine rather than a lonely TIE Fighter pilot taking on the galaxy. They even did full voice acting, remastering of the soundtrack and ironed out some story quirks - it is insane. They did what they set out to do - mission accomplished - and then some!

The iconic Harkov betrayal! The mines were very difficult to see - realistic but annoying. Very good job making it feel frantic and desperate. After that, you get to fly the TIE Avenger and it feels like happiness. The hit and run convoy mission was also very well constructed

So 5 battles done. Finally got to fly the TIE Advanced, I mean Avenger. Though bitter sweet as you immediately work on making your ship rarer by destroying its siblings. From a cockpit design perspective, it's interesting that they went with 4 quadrants of rings for representing your laser and shield power.

Battle 5 felt like it had a pretty good conclusion with the capturing of Admiral Harkov. These missions seemed pretty good. I did like that there were some opportunities to prolong the mission if you were just looking ot keep on shooting down ships, such as the band of pirates.

Not sure if a real bug, but Mission 1 has Gamma 2 and 3 labelled as enemy craft from the beginning. Is there not a way to have them change loyalty half way through and preserve the mystery/betrayal aspect of the mission?
