I love TFTC-R and how high production value it is. This battle gives some variety of being on the attack vs defensive posture and doesn't have any of the "unfair" missions that come later in the campaign
Another great entry into the series! Really enjoying the classic TIE missions in the upgraded XWA engine.
It's been commented on before, but it truly bears repeating: the low orbit planet for this battle is beautiful, and really adds something that, in my opinion, puts it just a notch above the source material. It's still a cover of what is, I think, one of the weaker battles from the original game, and that's what gives it a less than perfect score. But very well executed, without question.
As much as i want to give it a 5 for the amazing backdrops, there's just too many collisions and evilness'.
I have always enjoyed this battle in TIE, its a great conversion. Backdrops are great and use of hyper in last mission is a great plus.
Visually stunning; what more could you want than a swirling dogfight against an absolutely gorgeous planet backdrop? I think I died more times in this campaign than I have in any other; usually due to collisions, friendly fire, or just getting a LITTLE careless as the mission wound down. Loses marks for perhaps too many ships in the area at one point on some missions, leaving me feeling that I could just sit and ride the mission out as an observer rather than a player.
Every single battle of TFTC-R is an abolute masterpiece. As if the original TIE-Fighter was not one of the best games ever conceived, TFTC-R tops it - on every single mission. It is not only that the graphics, sound and joystick support cababilities were brought today's standards with underlying XWAU package. TFTC-Reimangined also set out to redisgn the original TF missions reimagining what they could have looked like if it wasn't for TF's 1994 engine limitations (e.g. only ~30 ships in space at any given time) yielding huge battles which truely make you feel as part of a mighty imperial war machine rather than a lonely TIE Fighter pilot taking on the galaxy. They even did full voice acting, remastering of the soundtrack and ironed out some story quirks - it is insane. They did what they set out to do - mission accomplished - and then some!
So the plot for Battle 4 was interesting. Transferred to the Outer Rim, getting hyperdrive tech from one group while helping them backstab their tech partners. Sure, it worked ok. Even the craft selection mostly made sense until the final mission. Unsure why I was put into a gunboat for it, other than them wanting me to fly all the craft during a battle. Maybe to ensure I stay proficient in all the different craft!
Missions 3 and 4 killed me many times to collisions and splash damage (and more conventional means) as well as losing mission critical craft. It was a bit frustrating, but almost completely made up for by the spectacular visuals of the low orbit planet backdrop
