RHO SQUADRON REPORT #16 |
REPORTING OFFICER: Rear Admiral Alexandre Morgan, Squadron Commander RECIPIENTS: General Gilbert H. Frown, Wing II; cc: Rho Squadron DATE SUBMITTED: 04.01.2023 |
SQUADRON COMMANDER'S CORNER |
(The Rho section of the ISDII Warrior’s hangar bay was as battered as the rest of them, twelve battle-scarred TIE Avengers sitting in a row. The Warrior had seen chaotic action in the Imperial Storm campaign, which had finally come to a seeming close with the successful invasion of the Ishtari homeworld. Rho Squadron Commander Alexandre Morgan walked through the TIEs, performing a cursory check on the craft. He looked at the holes in the wings, the scarred fuselages, the blown engines, and was suddenly grateful that everyone made it back safely. ‘No losses from Rho,’ he thought, ‘but the same cannot be said for the rest of the TIE Corps.’ The Imperial Storm campaign was not an easy one, ships retreating back to Tusorix a constant in the nearly month-long engagement. Morgan was still unhesitantly proud of his pilots and the strength they demonstrated, not only piloting but in the mind. Unwavering determination and ability outweighed any metrical measurement of merit. Mix interrupted his interior monologue, appearing from behind one of the TIEs, spanner in dirty hand and slightly uncomfortable expression on his face. “Captain, or, uh… Rear Admiral, uh… what brings you down here?” Morgan buried his internal confusion about why Mix acted this way and put on a reassuring smile. “Just Morgan or Alexandre is fine here, Mix. I came to ask how the ships looked, to see how lucky we were we all made it.” Mix nodded. “Pretty damn lucky, Captain – I mean Morgan. No ship is untouched, and half of ‘em shouldn’t have even made it back with what’s been done to them."" “I guess we’re lucky you put them together so well in the first place,” Morgan said, and paused. “By the way, would you be interested in a bit of drinks tonight? Dav and Adom and a couple of the other guys are going to steal a little bit of the cantina for our own use. Celebrations are in order,” he chuckled. Mix hesitated, but nodded. “Why not? I probably should fix up the ships, but there will always be tomorrow for that.” “Sounds great! I’ll see ya then.” Morgan began to walk away. “Thanks for your hard work, Mix!” “My pleasure, Morgan!” Happy with his making a new friend and excited for the coming evening, Morgan walked a little lighter through the halls. ‘But before any celebrations,’ he reminded himself, ‘there is a report due that will not write itself!’)
Pilots of Rho Squadron, An amazing month! The Ishtari lay somewhat defeated, their homeworld striken, the TIE Corps stands stronger, and the drydocks at Tusorix are getting plenty of business with all of the retreated Star Destroyers. Rho Squadron acquitted itself well, with the majority of us flying this month to help defeat the Ishtari! We now all have fancy new ribbons to pin on our uniforms, signaling our great accomplishment. In this coming month of restoration after the campaign, we can use this time to refocus our goals as a squadron. Fewer people medaled this month than last month, five instead of six, but we can use April to reverse that and start an upward trend! Congratulations to LC fr0Zen, LT Rainrix, CPT FamePlane, LT Maston Dane, and LC Westric Davalorn! You might have noticed that there was a new name on that list, and you’d be correct! A warm official welcome to LT Maston Dane, who has joined us this month in the best spot in the squadron, Rho 8 (the bias because that is where I myself began in Rho). He has already impressed us all with his swift promotion out of SL, and we look forward with excitement to his continual excellence. Another thing to look out for besides our new stellar recruit is LC Davalorn’s new competitions starting today! He is running, both for exclusively the Warrior, a trivia-based competition and a propaganda competition, where we will be gathering beautiful screenshots and be handsomely rewarded. Check both of those out in the Competitions section below, alongside the currently-running competitions that apply to you! Regarding other competitions, LC fr0Zen’s and my dual competitions, Sky Rhovers and Ground Rhovers, are both halfway completed! It’s not too late to come out on the next couple Friday nights and earn some shinies, so we both hope to see everyone there! Moving to other happenings of March besides Imperial Storm V and competitions, we see a wonderful breadth of contributions from many pilots! Excluding myself, LC fr0Zen headed up our Legion of Combat contributions for this month, followed closely by CPT FamePlane and LT Dane, the latter perhaps only a product of joining halfway through this month! LC Davalorn led in both the old flight sims and Legions of Skirmish, consistently high totals in both of those realms, 18 missions and 220 LoS. While he was alone on the old sims front, he was joined on the LoS boards by LCM Bluar and LC fr0Zen. A couple pilots even lent their pens to the cause! Besides myself, LCM Bronx and LC Davalorn wrote about the experience of the Imperial Storm campaign. Check those out in the Fictions section below! That’s all I have for this month! Keep up the great work, pilots, and I look forward to a calmer April! For the Empire! Long may it reign! |

COMPETITIONS |
The full list of current competitions can be found in the Competitions Center.
War(rior) Correspondents (Davalorn) General Frown has requested that all pilots begin recording their heroic exploits to be used for propaganda, recruiting, and boosting morale for the folks back home. Pilots are encouraged to use in-game methods (such as turning off HUD elements) to improve the quality of their screenshots. Winning submissions for each category will be determined at the end of each month by a popular vote. For April, the category is Star Wars: Squadrons.
Wondering Warriors Trivia (Davalorn) Five trivia questions will be sent out each week using the Timed Test feature on the site. Correct answers earn points and the quickest response times (time taken between starting and submitting test) get more points!
Ground Rhovers and Star Rhovers (Morgan and fr0Zen) Alternating Friday nights on a weekly basis, starting on February 3rd, 2023, Rho Squadron will gather and play Star Wars EA Battlefront II or Star Wars Squadrons together. The event will conclude after 6 bi-weekly opportunities for each game, with the final opportunity on April 21st, 2023. For a pilot to be successfully marked as participating in a session, a screenshot of the group with all names visible must be sent to the competition runner. These screenshots are accepted throughout the entirety of each participant's local Friday time. Whoever attends the most play sessions for each game over the time period are awarded an IS-SW. The runner-ups are awarded an IS-BW, and the third place an IS-CW. Any pilot who attends three or more of the six sessions for each game is also awarded an ORA.
TIE Corps Jigsaw Puzzle Part 2 (Vanman) For 4 months, each month a new puzzle will be announced and pilots will compete for the best time with medals up for grabs for the top four fastest pilots as well as points accrued. At the end of each season, the top five pilots with the most points accrued will earn medals based on performance. In the event of a tie, the tie breaker will go to the pilot with the most 1st place wins. Rules: Screenshots need to show the number of pieces from the bottom-left corner of the screen, the time shown in the middle, and the completed puzzle. Working through the puzzle multiple times and using all the options available in the app are allowed, except one: Don't change the number of pieces from 80. Pilots are encouraged to create a profile on https//www.jigsawplanet.com/ for extra fun and competition. When you're satisfied with your time, take a screenshot and send it to vapinvanman@gmail.com. One entry per pilot, multiple submissions will not be accepted and only the first submission will be counted. Have fun pilots! |

FICTIONS |
During the Imperial Storm campaign, pilots were encouraged to exercise their minds and pens by writing some excerpt of the experience, or some other creative written endeavor. Myself, LCM Bronx, and LC Davalorn partook, and so I am proud to show off their work in this new section of the report! Follow the links below to find and enjoy their efforts.
