RHO SQUADRON REPORT #13

REPORTING OFFICER: Major Westric Davalorn, Squadron Commander

RECIPIENTS: General Gilbert H. Frown, Wing II; cc: Rho Squadron

DATE SUBMITTED: 01.03.2023

SQUADRON COMMANDER'S CORNER

(Major Westric "Dav" Davalorn sits behind the desk in his office, a cloud of tabac smoke hovering around his head from the pipe clenched between his teeth.  He finishes typing up the data transmission request for the holo messages he received and submits it for processing.

Leaning back in his chair, he exhales another cloud of smoke and reflects on the past year.  His appointment as Rho Squadron Commander on the eve of Imperial Storm IV and the Warrior's victory under the leadership of its new commodore, Vice Admiral Marenta Jean; Rho Squadron's successful performance during Squadron Remobilization and the decision to upgrade from TIE Interceptors to TIE Avengers; the return of the Ishtari to Tusorix and the subsequent campaign to drive them from the system for good. It had been a busy year, with both highs and lows, and Dav is looking forward to what this year will bring.

Waving a hand to clear away the smoke, he turns back to his terminal and begins composing his next report.)

Thanks to all of the pilots who took the opportunity to compose holo messages for their loved ones back home, especially Captain JetMech of Sigma, Commander neurotictim of Beta, and Major Vaner Van'an of Theta.

We have picked up a new recruit since the last report. Sub-Lieutenant Chuundar has been assigned to Rho 8.  Please assist me with welcoming them aboard and getting them acclimated to Rho Squadron.

That's all the news I have for now.

For peace and order throughout the galaxy!  For the Empire!

COMPETITIONS

The full list of current competitions can be found in the Competitions Center.

Show Me What You(Tube) Got

To kick off the new year and celebrate the EH’s anniversary (birthday, really), let’s get together and watch some Star Wars videos!

Each participant will submit the URL of one Star Wars-related YouTube video with a duration of 5 minutes or less with the goal being to submit a video that has mass appeal by being funny, well-made, telling a good story, etc. Videos must have PG-13 content or below; no excessive violence, coarse language, or risqué content. If an individual URL has already been submitted, the additional submitter(s) will be asked to pick again. Submissions will be played to everyone that shows up for a Saturday voice chat where we'll use the new Watch Together feature to play through the submitted videos.

No clips of official Star Wars media. Submitting a scene from The Bad Batch, for example, won’t be accepted.

Submissions should be sent to the TCCOM via tccom@emperorshammer.org. Remember to sign your email with your ID line!

Pimp My Ride: Elite Dangerous starship edition

"Greetings! This is BLK PHNX otherwise known as the "Hip 'n' Happenin' Honsou!" We're live from Tuxorix Coast: After-market Starship Syndicate. We specialise in beautiful, upgradeable, template, technology services. And this is "Pimp My Ride" Elite Dangerous starship edition!!"

I was taking a look through the cosmetic starship upgrade options in Elite Dangerous and got some serious "Need for Speed Underground 2" vibes.

I was thinking about how to run a competition that everyone could participate in, which ruled out the cross-platform issues. I decided that a cosmetics competition whereby entries would be screenshots of your most "pimped out ride" emailed to eh.honsou@gmail.com or DM'd in Discord.

"So my friends, send me holo's of your most pimped out ride and I will award the flashiest, coolest and most pimpin' entries! See you soon at the Tusorix Coast: After-market Starship Syndicate!!"

Signal Scramble Infection

Before VA Marenta's time as the Warrior Commodore, she used her faithful TIE Reaper, BESSIE, during a mission in which her com circuitry was corrupted and led to cascading and repetitive damage. Being the brilliant logistician she was, she decided to appropriate her vessel from Inferno Squadron and bring it with her to the ISDII Warrior. Unfortunately, it still has the bug of a strange frequency being transmitted into her ship. The messages are simply random 3, 4, and 5 letter combinations repeated for approximately 2 standard weeks before the letter combinations change again. In an effort to help figure out what the messages mean, Marenta has tasked the Warrior to make up phrases for the letter combinations and polling the fleet to determine which is the most likely. Every 2 weeks VA Marenta will generate 3, 4, and 5 random letter combinations and create a Google Form to allow personnel onboard ISDII Warrior to fill out with a time frame of 2 weeks. After 2 weeks, the responses will be put up in a poll where the Warrior members will vote on the responses provided. The members voting will NOT be able to see which phrase was submitted by which member. After a 2 week voting period, to keep the submissions along the same time period as the voting, VA Marenta will announce the winners. Each season will have 6 full rounds of entries/voting/results. Example: VTK Vocal Tauntauns? Kill! FTWN Free The Wookies Now! VAAAS Vacations At Alderaan Are Stupid

The Challenge with Words

After a particularly bad batch of Chalquilla was distributed by Inferno Squadron, medical was inundated with severely hungover and somewhat illiterate members of the fleet. The tanks had been infected with a spore that ate sugar and spit out alcohol, like yeast. But, this spore also had a side effect, it secreted a neuro inhibitor that ate away people’s knowledge. To help “stimulate” some learning, Inferno, along with the medical crew, have started sending out word puzzles to help the members of the fleet regain some of their lost knowledge.

At the beginning of every month, VA Marenta will generate a word search and post the link along with announcing the previous month’s entrants. Each month, the puzzle will be related to something specific like planets, people, craft, manufacturers, wars, a movie/book/series, etc. Each puzzle will be 50 words and the site will keep track of all submissions.

This competition will utilize the time test on the website in lieu of using the first-entrant on the host site.

Analyzing the Ishtari Tactics

After our engagements with the Ishtari, it's in our best interest to study our tactics as well as theirs. Let's get into the simulators and see if we can't get our head wrapped around some high level strategy!

This will be a 2v2 league for Empire at War that will last from January 1st through March 31st of 2023. The match requirements in place for EaW listed in the COO Manual will apply(minimum time of 5 minutes, 2000 starting credits, no heroes, starting units okay). Play up to three matches a week(only the same team once per week) and score points based on the values below. The top four teams at the end of the league will receive an IS-GW, SW, BW, and CW respectively, along with an ORA for at least 4 matches played during the course of the league. Please submit your team to ehtcjetmech@gmail.com no later than 12/31. Each pilot may participate in one team of two for the duration of the event. A google docs spreadsheet will be shared with the current standings and will be updated weekly. Along with submitting your two required screenshots for the Legion of Combat, please submit the same to ehtcjetmech@gmail.com.

TIE Corps Jigsaw Puzzle Part 2

For 4 months, each month a new puzzle will be announced and pilots will compete for the best time with medals up for grabs for the top four fastest pilots as well as points accrued. At the end of each season, the top five pilots with the most points accrued will earn medals based on performance. In the event of a tie, the tie breaker will go to the pilot with the most 1st place wins.

Rules: Screenshots need to show the number of pieces from the bottom-left corner of the screen, the time shown in the middle, and the completed puzzle. Working through the puzzle multiple times and using all the options available in the app are allowed, except one: Don't change the number of pieces from 80. Pilots are encouraged to create a profile on https//www.jigsawplanet.com/ for extra fun and competition.

When you're satisfied with your time, take a screenshot and send it to vapinvanman@gmail.com. One entry per pilot, multiple submissions will not be accepted and only the first submission will be counted.

Have fun pilots!

It's Them! Blast Them!

For pilots that are members of our Elite Dangerous squadron ([EH94]), we offer you "It's Them, Blast Them!". For the next five months, we want you to email Miles Prower (via tc-itsthem-blastthem@googlegroups.com), a screenshot of your bounty voucher sheet for your session. (Example here). Your run will be plugged into this Google Sheet. This sheet is protected from editing by anyone outside of the competition managers and other key personnel.

At the end of the competition, a sort operation will be performed on the month's sheet and a validation check performed. After this validation, placement and awards will be set out and announced!

CLOSING COMMENTS

I'm aware of some efforts on the part of the Squadron XO and Flight Leader to establish a more organized training regimen.  Be on the lookout for more information regarding that.
