Like a lot of these early xvt frees it's a simple enough goal, protect the platform from some fighters (at least on easy). It's not terribly difficult, and you're overpowered for the job to say the least, but if you just need some quick points this is the way.

I don't want to go too hard on this battle because I played on easy and I'm confident it would be a lot more difficult if played on hard. The mission briefing is very clear, it's nicely laid out and really puts you in-universe, which is very nice, it's very professional which you don't get a lot from earlier free battles. As for mechanics, the flight briefing makes it seem like you're in for a tough fight, and again I'm sure you are outside of easy, but if you do play on easy expect to get what you're asking for. Not bad.

Ahh, I love the smell of heavy rockets in the morning. I played on easy, just as a caveat, but I easily recommend it if you want to play space Iron Man. You get to just blow stuff up which, in my opinion, is the heart of these battles. It is in this one for sure. So, if you're looking to do a little demo work, you can't go wrong here!

Sure lives up to its name - the chaos part at least. It's not that bad, but you really have to juggle your fighters to make sure you have enough ordinance to destroy the entire convoy in a timely manner. The fighters aren't that big of a deal, you get a decoy beacon if you want it, but take care if you're not playing on easy (I did, maybe that's why it was so easy).

I think I had a nightmare like this once. It's not bad conceptually, and the battle had me laughing, up until the final question. Two CRTs? Really? With lasers? OK, it's not that bad, but when you've just done math you haven't needed to do since the invention of wolfram alpha, it's a little bop on the nose. Still, very refreshing to have something different to do. Played on easy, hope those CRTs don't turn in to something worse on hard.

Nothing to write Aurora Prime about, but it's not the worst in the compendium. You're pretty overpowered for what you need to do (at least on easy) and you have squadmates with you, so the difficulty is pretty trivial. Always love flying the Defender, though! Recommend for points only, again on easy.

Yuck, flying an X-Wing. Once the smell has washed off, it's actually kind of refreshing to fly one honestly. Anyway, this mission can be a straight dogfight as long as you focus on the correct craft - just remember to pack the right ordinance for a dogfight because it doesn't give it to you by default. On easy.

On easy, this is a not very particularly interesting dogfight. The Interceptor you get has a decoy beam, so maybe it's significantly more difficult on higher levels. One of my wingmates crashed in to the ISD, and I almost got smoked by the ISD engine wash, so I think their COM's class C license should be revoked for this battle honestly. Can't recommend for fun, but I can say it's easy points.

Mess with the best, die like the rest. This is such a strange mission. You have to disable a shuttle in your slow boat, so catch up to it asap. Some TIEs come out to play, so take care of them, but don't freak out at the end of the mission when the B-Wings show up - I think they're supposed to disable you. On easy.

Destroy the ISD Heisenberg? Something seems fishy about that description, but you're a good pilot and you'll do it, right? On easy, it lives up to its class. You have plenty of wingmates to help you, so just direct them to attack the objective and you all should make short work of it in no time. Your ISDs take some damage from the Calamaris hot on their tails, but not enough of a threat, again, on easy.

Turns out, on easy at least, the Vanguard probably could have taken care of itself. But, you're here to help, so you should probably take a gunboat and just go do your thing. It's not terribly difficult. It's not terribly fun. But it's not really terrible, either. Fly it for the points, not the story.

I'm editing my review because it looks like it's not as garbage as the easy mode would have you realize. Try not to play it on easy if you are looking for any semblance of fun or challenge (go figure).

So, I hope you're not a chump like me and you are here reading the reviews first. I don't want to spoil the surprise at the beginning of the battle (on easy), so I'll just say: swerve. Turn. Do not fly straight, as is good practice and this battle (may) prove to you. Other than that it is an absolute milk run. Don't even bother picking a counter. Again, on easy.

Flying in an unshielded TIE always gives me the sweats. But don't worry, your mission here is really just shoot unarmed, defenseless Lambda shuttles. Some Rebel craft (probably infiltrator) and cargo containers too, but all of them are 'in storage' so none of them move, and none of them shoot back. It doesn't get any easier, or boring, than this. On easy at least.

A small cruiser battle with starfighrer clean up (on easy). The choice of interceptor for all three flights is interesting - including for your ordinance carrying craft. So make sure you check all available craft before leaving to make sure it has what you need for the mission described. This might sound basic, but it's particularly useful when your choice here are 3 identical looking interceptors.

A straight dogfight if you want it, on easy at least. I didn't have to use the missiles I brought, but on something more difficult you might have to. The shuttle at the end can take a while to leave, but that shouldn't be a problem if it takes you a sufficient amount of time to kill the fighters.

Disable a tug and defend the Hammer. Sounds easy, right? It should be, and it was for me on my third go around, but on my first try the TUG was destroyed and I couldn't find out why. Second try, disabled the tug, found the problem: a CRV hypers in, and if you disable the tug a little too late, it smashes right in to it and/or has the ability to smoke it. So, after you disable the TUG just make sure you hug it and watch out for any incoming CRVs. The mission objectives are super unclear too, even if it's obvious what you're supposed to do. This was on easy so ymmv.

Not as easy as it appears at first, but don't let that stop you from playing as CPT HAMMER. It's a straightforward battle, take out the objective, hold off against some fighters. Some fighters will hyper in and hone in on you with pinpoint precision so heads up if you think you're clear of hostiles.

I can't really give it anything less than a two, because it's playable, it doesn't have you flying rebel crafts, and you get to enjoy the Bomber a little. Not much fun here, but if you need some quick tournament points, or would just like to unwind with an easy battle, this is an excellent pick.

A circle of FRGs around a PLT. Sounds like a party, right? Well, what if I told you the rebels also had an ISD? This mission has a little of everything if you want it that way - if you don't, you can just inspect the objectives and be done with it. On easy, that's exactly what I did.

I'm going to be honest - this battle isn't very good. That could easily be solved by letting you take control of your wingmates and using their ordinance, but unfortunately you aren't given that option so you have to slog through it a little bit longer than you should have to. Either way, I flew this on easy, so maybe this is different on hard. The A-Wings went after my cap ship at the end which was unusual, they're normally only looking for a swift end from myself, not a turbolaser. So just keep an eye on them if you're worried.

I don't actually mind flying the missile boat, it's when you don't have anyone to help you with the fighters harassing you that it becomes a problem. Easy, straight-forward mission, but with the caveat that there are a lot of cap ships to take down. Stock up on heavy ordinance before taking off. Played on easy.

So for a mission I played on easy it definitely lived up to that description. If you pick the interceptor this mission quickly becomes about how fast you can dogfight and let the bombers get through. This battle did remind me of one thing though: never joust in a TIE Interceptor. Not even on a milk run like this.

This one, unlike its sibling 126, actually requires you to wait for something to hyper in and then inspect it. Not much more difficult than the one before, so that's not saying much new. I don't think anyone mentioned you're in a bomber, so just a heads up: if you direct all power to engines and go off course at all, you may end up taking 20 seconds instead of 15 like most. Really just a terrible battle.

This battle makes a parody of the word easy. If you have the faculty to look at the screen and manipulate your hands with the stick, you're going to succeed, and probably even come close to the high score. Maybe no one tested this with easy? Maybe someone left it here as a mercy battle for tournament points. Even so, cannot recommend.

Not great, not the worst. Be very careful with your ordinance on this one. Your objective in this battle is essentially just 'destroy the capitol ships' but without any idea of what other support you may have, it's difficult to judge what you need. So, my answer: a lot. It helps to shoot the turbo lasers off the cap ships if you happen to run out of ordinance. Or disable them first if you can't manage that.
