Battle Reviews

CPT Colo Delste

Much like XvT-F 126, this one has an easy completion condition, but if you delve deeper it requires a bit more. Managed to get over 30 minutes in on Hard before one of the AI GUNs (who are using rockets to destroy the FRTs, sometimes before you can inspect them) crashed into a FRT and caused a mission failure. I mentioned it delving deeper - well, the full mission is right there in the name. I'm assuming there's about 1000 FRTs that eventually jump in for an inspection, so make sure you have a snack and a drink handy.

AD Phoenix Berkana

I'm at a loss to describe this one, I'm not sure how it was even accepted in the first place as it's quite simply that bad. Inspect the first freighter to turn up and job done - I've had longer waits for a coffee to pour.

This one, unlike its sibling 126, actually requires you to wait for something to hyper in and then inspect it. Not much more difficult than the one before, so that's not saying much new. I don't think anyone mentioned you're in a bomber, so just a heads up: if you direct all power to engines and go off course at all, you may end up taking 20 seconds instead of 15 like most. Really just a terrible battle.

CPT Solohan50

I played on Easy. This mission was over in 34 seconds for me. You inspect the first freighter that pops in and then you're done. I'm not sure if this mission is bugged or what, but there's literally nothing to it.

Broken: When a mission takes longer to install than it does to complete you need to ask yourself if its worthy of being posted.

COL Genie

I understand that he's trying to create something'cool' but why set the primary objective to something ludicrous like that? If you try this one, do it for completion points, RtF etc or attempt to do the 'challenge' else it's a waste of time.

COL Phalk Sturm

Even faster than previous one. Go inspect a FRT and bail out or stand your ground and face the consequences in a shielded T/B.

LCM Marek Ny`Irfa

Okay this is easily the most stupid mission I've seen in the TC compendium thus far. Sure you can end it very easily and quickly after inspecting only one freighter. However, if you want to have a higher score, he is how it works. For inspecting each of the freighter you get a bonus of 2000 points. You could try to blast them as well but keep in mind that they are rigged and blow up more or less after 5 minutes after arrival. I'm not sure if shooting them gives more points than inspecting but I went with the latter approach. All you have to do is drop energy from lasers and shields then mindlessly fly in circles inspecting the freighters. Please DO NOT play this mission on hard difficulty. It adds some friendly Gunboats that start wrecking the freighters around you. Why is this bad? Well first of all you can't inspect what's already blasted off from the sky. Secondly, the AI is stupid enough that sooner or later (at random) one of the Gunboats will happily crash into the freighter... Failing your mission. Yes the mission goals are set to prevent any EH craft loss. Given I managed to inspect roughly 100 freighters in 30 min of gametime you can eaisly calculate how much time you'd need to beat Dempsey's score (nota bene, I admire your patience and dedication on this one!). You'd need to inspect 942 freighters which would take you some 4 hours and 40 minutes. As I noticed having such weird and pointless mission and battle designs seems quite common from Ender mBind. One might wonder if Emperor's Hammer needs a Chief Medical Officer position to keep mental health of its memeber's in check. If this mission was done for TIE-Fighter, I'd possibly give it 1 point. But since in XvT you can't time compress or even pause the game... This mission is worth a quick FCHG point for the one inspected freighter but I don't see it as a competition material.

MAJ Fox Malloy

You own, Ender. Great mission, got bored after 16 minutes, nice mass of points though.

CM Dvader

Heh, not enough patience to inspect them all! Nice mission!

COL Brucmack

You da man Ender, you da man.

X-Wing vs Tie Fighter Free Mission

Title: Folly: The Endless Inspection
Missions: 1
Medal: The Certificate of Having No Life at All
Author: SCO-TCT-TCS-PROF/AD Ender mBind/CS-10/SSSD Sovereign
Game Platform: X-Wing vs Tie Fighter

Release Date: 31/oct/2002
Ships: TIE Bomber
Difficulty: Easy and Very Hard?
Filename: folly3.zip
File contents: folly3.tie, IMPERIAL.LST, MISSION.LST, folly3me.tie, Readme.txt
Hardware used: Celleron 450Mhz, GForce II Ultra, 194Mb
Software used: XvTed, notepad.

note: the original .lst files in your train and melee folders will be overwritten,
you will not loose access to your exsisting Melees but because of EHTAC
regulations the Training missions are replaced.

1] Double click the .EHM file, the EH Battle Launcher will install the battle.
2] Check the Misc folder in your XvT one for additional material like patches, sounds etc.
3] Press the X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter button to start XvT and fly the battle.
- Place these files into your /Melee directory: MISSION.LST, folly3me.tie
- Create a new pilot for the mission based on your name or PIN and the mission number. For example,
SL Stele playing Free Mission 80 would make a new pilot file named "StelFM80." or a Pilot with PIN
2883 playing Free Mission 69 would make a new pilot file named "2883fm69"
- Begin flying the first training mission, fly on till you've finished training mission #1

This mission is part of a series of free missions that just test possibilities of the games
and create a "different" type of mission... ;)

Story Line
The Emperor's Hammer Science Office has ordered a very large shipment of fighter parts from the Genko
Motors Corporation. These will arrive in freighters at the Science Office factory near the Pyrath

The Genko System and its businesses have proved traitorous in the past so we want you to inspect all
the freighters as they come into the area to make sure they are not sending us second hand speeder bike
parts or worse.

GENERAL: You need XvT (or at least all the ships involved there), as far as i know no other patches are
needed. To fly in Combat all players need the same version, make sure you all have the update by
lucasarts installed.
COMBAT NOTE: For this mission to work in MP, all players must have it installed on the same mission
number, in this case "12". Preferably do not change this number.
FCHG NOTE: TAC won't let you fly Combat Missions, Melees or XWA Skirmishes for FCHG Points, use the
Single player mission for all TC flying outside of combat competitions.

Other Information

This is the first release of a very quickly made and hardly tested mission.
Bugs could arrise - please mail me if they do - also if you have hints, death threats,
