Flying in an unshielded TIE always gives me the sweats. But don't worry, your mission here is really just shoot unarmed, defenseless Lambda shuttles. Some Rebel craft (probably infiltrator) and cargo containers too, but all of them are 'in storage' so none of them move, and none of them shoot back. It doesn't get any easier, or boring, than this. On easy at least.
I played on Easy. The mission ended with literally zero enemies firing at me while I killed a bunch of stationary targets. It was good for points and quick, but it was not a good mission at all. A bunch of stuff shows up at the end, maybe it gets better then?
This is a nice little mission, which could and probably should be the opener for a larger campaign. If you focus purely on the primary goals you are never really in danger so can complete it easily, but for HS chasers there are enemies to be killed.
An appetizer to something bigger. Should have been part of a bigger campaign. Not sue why it's sitting here as a solo one, but oh well. :)
Quick and simple mission. For T/F lovers only, it starts with shooting static targets, and then increases as the mission progresses. Fast point earnt, since the primary goals are impossible to miss.
I thought this was a blast. It starts slow but the finale was quite thrilling.
Oh yes, I remember this TIE Demo very well. I flew this umpteen times with a keyboard and mouse(!), because I didn't own TIE-Fighter then nor a joystick. Finally, I was able to kill some A/W's with that, which requires quite some skill with just a mouse. All this frantic flying wasn't very good for the pointing device, though :). And after all these years, I still get killed by the FG A/W Rogue. Nice reconstruction! It brings back some good memories.
Dispite being a little on the crazy side, this mission is actually pretty fun. Plus, using only the basic T/F harkens to days of old. :)
T'was the TIE Demo, never flew it, so I enjoyed this flashback!

Installation ------------ The Imperial.lst and Mission.lst replace your original files, so back those up! 1] Double click the .EHM file, the EH Battle Launcher will install the battle. 2] Check the Misc folder in your XvT one for additional material like patches, sounds etc. 3] Press the X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter button to start XvT and fly the battle. 4] Create a new pilot for the mission based on your name or PIN and the mission number. For example, SL Stele playing Free Mission 80 would make a new pilot file named "StelFM80." or a Pilot with PIN 2883 playing Free Mission 69 would make a new pilot file named "2883fm69" Description ----------- This mission is the elusive "TIE Demo" mission, that was part of the flyable demo of TIE Fighter and is in fact the first TIE mission ever made, but also in storyline: It happens just before the first mission of Battle 1 (and the Battle of Hoth) and is Mareek Stele's first actual combat mission. All official TIE Fighter missions are part of the Emperor's Hammer History and this would be the earliest bit. The Demo actually uses a mix between the X-Wing and the TIE Fighter mission formats: It has the 48 possible flightgroups of TIE, but like X-Wing it has no included briefing and it uses a craft slotlist that is closer to that of X-Wing as well - also only using craft that are in X-Wing: this means this mission can be flown in any TIE version because they all have more craft types. Using hex editting I've ported the demo mission completely to the final TIE Fighter mission format. To finish it off I've added a full modern day animated briefing (the demo doesn't have one). Besides the briefing this is a complete port, with all the same craft on the same locations doing the same things. Giving you all the chance to play it (again) in better quality (XvT).
