An odd dogfight. You're given a trusty TIE Advanced, nothing out of the ordinary there, and you're fighting some alphabet fighters, also nothing out of the ordinary there, but when it comes time to grab the B-Wings - where did they go? Well, finally someone got smart and told those B-Wings to fly in the opposite direction of the flying. That or those weird cockpits had them all disoriented. Either way, hustle to chase them down before it gets to be a pain to catch up to them.

This battle was...odd. To say the least. So I hadn't dealt with any battles with .wav files before, those worked as expected I think. The asteroid and the golden frg were not necessary at all. When I started flying this battle I thought something was wrong with my stick because it was just acting oddly, but I think it was the game having an issue with the asteroid pathing. No idea, but heads up on that. I can't really rate it lower, there's clearly a lot of work put in here, and it's not the worst to play - but it definitely doesn't deserve anything higher. Not these days. Play only if you've run out of things to do/are finishing the compendium/want to time travel to the TC in 2008.

At first I was like 'oh nice, some names I recognize!' but then I was like 'oh no, some names I recognize.' It was really fun to see 'VA Yoda' at the helm :) As for the battle itself, it's pretty trivial (on easy) to complete. As an avenger you're given what I now assume is your standard TIE Advanced and whatever overpowered ordinance you desire. Your job is to blow up some escort fighters and finally some cruisers/cap ships. No job is apparently too small for the Avengers - even that one cargo ship! Well worth it for the points.

A bit different than most, but I'm not sure if it was more challenging because it had a bunch of different objectives that were not super clear or if I was doing something wrong (I played on easy, to be fair). You do have to watch out for a craft you could easily miss, which I think is pretty cheap sometimes, but it's used pretty well here. I also really liked the boarding dialogue; I always wonder what happens during those operations. Here you get to find out! Worth a fly.

I'm a sucker for those neon green B-Wings, they're so cool. Plus they're just really easy to see, so they die faster. You get some cap ships, cruisers, and your regular assortment of fighters in this battle. You're flying a TIE Advanced as many of these have you in, but you don't have a default ordinance loadout so double check that before you head out. Really it's just a simple dogfight when you get down to it, play for the points (on easy).

After countless mindless battles I've been flying this one suddenly felt like I was being given a cognitive test. It's not difficult, but the in-flight instructions are quite verbose and you really need to pay attention to them. It's not a hard mission (on easy at least) in the sense that I never felt I was about to lose, it was more that I wasn't sure I was going to win. Again, just pay very careful attention to your messages. Not a great way to structure a battle imo, but worth it for the points.

Not terrible. Not great. Played on easy, this was a fun battle that plays just what it says on the tin: protect the ISD Greywolf. You have your standard Rebel craft to fight off, and cruiser to back them up. Not the most exciting, but you do fly in a shieldless TIE Interceptor which makes it much, much more believable than the same type of battles that do this with Defenders, etc. Not bad for the points in gives.

So there's an interesting premise here, in craft choice at least. A lot of Rebel fighters available to you. However, I would strongly advise that you something other than the X or Y-Wings. Because, on easy at least, that's all I came up against. It was difficult at the end to tell friend from foe apart in an X-Wing, and, well...

A-Wings to the right of me, B-Wings to the left of me...Rinse and repeat. There's really nothing else about this mission. The A-Wings are marked as secondary and the B-Wings are primary. I think that's a little backwards but maybe it's just because I played on easy. Not sure what to make of this one, other than to say it's easy points.

Pretty standard escort mission, with a pretty decent degree of difficulty (on easy at least). There's a small variety of craft attacking your convoy so you at least know what to expect, and there's no choice of loadout so you're getting your Advanced and can know ahead of time what to use. I can really only recommend this one for points, it's pretty forgettable.

An enjoyable little battle, if simple (on easy). I think the pacing is actually OK with this one, you don't have to wait around forever for things to happen, ships dock and shuttles arrive when they're supposed to. It's not bad, it's just really boring. If you're looking for easy points, this is the way.

Always fun to fly with the SSD. Feels like it takes up about half the map, which is then amusing to watch a B-Wing try to take it out. I mean, if we're not counting Endor. Anyway, on-topic, this battle isn't too bad (on easy) it's just taking out a couple cruisers and some containers oddly enough. There are some fighters to throw you off (you're in a bomber so that could be challenging) but not enough to pose a threat. OK for points, not really great for much else.

I have no idea what I just did or why I did it, but it was in service to the Empire, and I did it on easy. You're waiting for an ATR to board, so be smart and don't bonk in to it like I did on my first try. Your squadmates aren't much better - one of them took some ordinance to the cockpit when I fired it off. Not sure why, maybe it's the close proximity of things in this mission, just try to spread out a bit maybe.

So, individually nothing really stands out about this battle. You're given a cap ship and a cruiser to blow up and two flights of bombers to do it. On easy, this was trivial. It does start you with 0 ordinance by default, so maybe check to make sure your bags are packed before you head out, but other than that there's really nothing else left to review. Watch for the Z-95s if this is your first time flying.

This battle has a nicely paced little story, and I really enjoyed it even if the mechanics didn't quite live up to the hype. You get to fly a Phantom! What else can you want really? The banter between the Rebel pilots at the beginning is great - and even though I haven't flown any missions in this series, and I don't know any of these names, I could tell the TIE pilots all had different personalities and were likeable. This is rare for any battle, so for one it took me minutes to complete (on easy) I would say it's a fun one to try for anyone.

Standard bombing run battle. You have to take out a few containers while you're at it, but there isn't much pressure on you (on easy at least). The constant missile spam from the platform was annoying to say the least, I didn't see a way to target any warhead launcher either so just take it out the platform ASAP. So-so battle, play it for points.

Strange battle. You inspect some cargo like normal, but some of them are also laser batteries. Turns out they're mostly harmless (on easy at least) but don't look away quite yet, you still have to take them out as well as some new republic police who show up. So, get while the getting is good and then take off. It's OK for points, not really great for the story.

Not a bad little battle, it's clearly the start of a larger series of battles I haven't played, this one doesn't really stand on its own. It's not hard (especially on easy) to hit a target that won't shoot back, and the fighters that arrive to protect are not much better. If you're looking for some fun, I would look someone else. For points, here you go.

So I started blastin'- You could describe this mission that way. Or, you could take a more nuanced approach and consider the different cap ships and cruisers thrown your way. It's a variety, I'll give it that. However, what really breaks it for me is the distance between your ISD and your targets to destroy. If it's in any trouble from incoming Y-Wings (I played on easy so it wasn't) there's no chance you're making it back in time. Worth it for the points.

If you want to quickly learn how to blow up an ISD, here is your Intro to Blowing Up An ISD. You're given just about whatever ordinance you want to try it with, and with a compliment of squadmates to help try out any new theory for doing so. But staying relevant to this battle in particular; I suppose there's a chance on higher difficulties (I played on easy) that the small amount of X and B-Wings that showed up could pose a threat. It's not bad, but it's definitely not one to play for fun.

Kind of ridiculous how fast this one is, on easy at least. You're given a boatload of torpedoes (literally) to sink exactly one (1) Interdictor. With some of your boating friends. My favorite part of this battle is definitely when the Rebels charge in and say 'Ha-ha check out the new engines on our XWIngs.' I nearly fell for the taunt, but I decided to unleash my 20 advanced protons right at the cap ship instead. Worth it for the points.

This battle is sort of a mixed bag. There's a variety of fighters to kill (not fly) but that does give you a chance to get comfortable for the last mission which, if you're not playing on easy (I did) I imagine this would be very difficult. The second and third missions are basically the same - same setup, but the third time around you don't have to wait for the craft to show up at least. The final mission though...I almost don't want to ruin it, but I will say I didn't know there was a 2 minute timer running once I started, so heads up when you hear the beep.

Where to start with this one - there's a lot going on, if not a lot of variety. Some missions have unnecessarily long wait times. I played this on easy, and that mostly felt to be true, but I bet on hard it gets a lot harder. There's a lot of cap ship destroying going on, so make sure you're prepared for that. In the final mission there are some defense batteries which I don't believe I've ever encountered before. They were mostly non-lethal, but a very interesting addition all the same. It's worth a try, for the points if nothing else.

So, just to address this right away, the story makes little to no sense. The mission briefings are at least clear enough as to what you're going to do, and why you're doing it, but that really means nothing still. The mechanics of the battle are mostly dogfighting, and the last two are strictly dogfighting. The last two are, in fact, the same set up as the ones before it, so at least it's easy to remember where you need to go and what spawns where. Can't really recommend this for anything but points, but I can't really give it a low score either, it's not the worst.

Overall, this battle is OK. There's a bit of everything - inspection, dogfights, cap ship fights. It does lean a little heavily on making bombing runs, but if that's your thing you may like this one a lot. I played on easy, and it was, but choose your craft wisely for the last mission; you have to blow up a platform and two factories. The default interceptor may not be the best choice...
