I enjoyed this series of missions - they were well designed and fun to play, and it was interesting seeing (and flying the V Wing Fighter. On easy, you have lots of wing support, and most missions are quite quick to complete. Recommended.

V-Wings were fun. Other than that - nothing really special.

This was an entertaining battle. It's fun to fly the V-Wing as well. Nicely balanced craft. When flying this battle, make sure you have the latest EHSP and latest V-Wing patch installed. I flew first with EHSP 2.0 and the craft appeared in the tech library, but was swapped with a T/A during the battles.

Decent battle. Interesting little craft the V-wing is.

X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter (SP) Battle Title: Wing IX: Up and At Em' Missions: 4 Medal: Medal of the V-Wing Author: SCO-TCT-TCS-PROF/FA Ender mBind/CS-10/SSSD Sovereign (mindb_ender@hotmail.com) CMDR/BG Jordan/Flayer-I/ISD Subjugator (unk.) Game Platform: X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter (+EHSP+V-W) Release Date: 4/14/1996 Version: 1.0 (TIE) Release Date: 2nd Oct 2004 Version: 2.0 (XvTSP) Ships: TIE Bomber, Assault Gunboat, V-Wing Difficulty: Tricky. THESE LEVELS ARE NOT MADE, DISTRIBUTED, OR SUPPORTED BY LUCASARTS ENTERTAINMENT COMPANY. ELEMENTS TM & (c) LUCASARTS ENTERTAINMENT COMPANY. Required patches ---------------- * EH Ship Patch for XvT * V-wing Installation instructions -------------------------- 1] Make sure you have the EH Ship Patch for XvT installed 2] Download the V-wing patch from the EH Patch archive (http://tc.emperorshammer.org/patcharchive.php) 3] Install the V-wing patch by double clicking it in the EHSP installer 4] Double click the .EHM file, the EH Battle Launcher will install the battle 5] Check the Misc folder in your XvT one for additional material like patches, sounds etc. 6] Press the X-wing vs TIE Fighter button on the EHBL to start the game 7] Create a new pilot and fly the Imperial training missions 8] Uninstall the V-wing patch by double clicking it in the EHSP installer Story Line ---------- [View Plotline.txt for the debriefings and mission hints.] Mission 1: After a major power surge, many of the ISDII Relentless' critical systems have gone offline. This places the ISDII Relentless in a very bad position so the M/FRG Fogger is on its way to repair it. You are to protect both the ISDII Relentless and the M/FRG Fogger during this operation. In other news, we have gained information that Rebels have made an advanced, spacegoing, version of their V-Wing airspeeders. Be on the lookout for any of these. Mission 2: As Intel had suspected, the new V-Wing version was used in the assault on the ISDII Relentless. This new craft looks just like the old V-Wing, and our scanners will pick it up as such. They have new "V-class" engines, and are also shielded. Be alerted! The Science Office would very much like to take a closer look at these new craft, so you are to scout the sector for any rebel V-wings, and if any are encountered, to capture them. Especially the Infiltrator Wing could do very well using them. Mission 3: Tracing the hyperspace lines of the Rebels in the previous mission, we think we have located the source of the recent rebel incursions: A Rebel Dreadnaught hiding in a small asteroid field near by. This Dreadnaught Master and its two escorting Carrack Cruisers from flightgroup Disser must be destroyed. Using standard V-Wings, the Science Office has been able to whip up some of these new V-Wings and this assault would be a good chance to check them out. In case these protypes fail in some way we have M issile Boats and TIE Advanced flying along. Mission 4: The Science Office research on the V-Wings is complete. While still not particulary well armed, it is quite fast and well protected. However the shield generator and hyperdrive are both quite complicated and expensive. We suspect that the production version will lack these features. It also appears that they have an extremely long range hyperdrive, and we have decided to make good use of this unexpected ability. Using this special hyperdrive, you will attack a rebel training platform deep inside New Republic space, and completely destroy it. NOTE ------------------- You need XvT (or at least all the ships involved there) AND the EH Ship Patch and V-W for XvT. To fly as a team all players need the same version, make sure you all have the update by lucasarts installed. As the battle was released in 1996, that made it the earliest reference to this craft ever. However, the patch had been disabled by an earlier TAC project (Probably because it only worked on the TIECD version and had only very limited changes to the craft it replaced) so I removed it from the battle and stored it for future reference. A year later I completed the V-Wing OPT (and cockpits) and rebuilt the patch for both TIECD and TIE95 using the original stats by Micck Emrys (almost, i removed the standard shields and hyperdrive.) so I wanted to re-enable the patch in TIE-TC#39 (by just changing the craft type really.) It was then that I actually first laid eyes on the battle - and was shocked to see how much had changed in missioncreation since 1996: It had virtually no radiomessages, waypoints or briefings and even still included parts of text from the original TIE Fighter mission it was based upon. At this point I asked permission from the Tactical Office to upgrade the battle completely to current standards while re-adding the patch. Because I was working on it anyway I decided I may as well port it to XvT while I was at it. :) This conversion was made using more then just "tie2xvt", about every aspect except the actual texts was changed to get better results in XvT - however great care was taken to retain the same atmosphere as the TIE version had.SCO-TCT-TCS-PROF/FA Ender mBind/CS-10/SSSD Sovereign GSx2/SSx7/BSx4/PCx7/ISMx16/MoI/MoT-32rh-51gh-6bh/IS-1SR-2GR-1PR/LoC-TS-Rx1/DFC-Rx1/CoS/CoE/CoL/CoB/LoAx2/OV-3E [CNTR] {IWATS-AIM-GFX-ICQ-IIC/1/2/3-JS-M/1/2-OPT-SM/2-TM-TT-XAM-XTM/1/2-XTT}
BATTLE NO. 39 APPROVED FOR THE EMPEROR'S HAMMER! Battle 39: Up & At Em' PLOTLINE CREATED BY CMDR/BG Jordan/Flayer-I/ISD Sub Mission 1: The Relentless' systems are still offline. Protect her while the M/FRG Ardent repairs it. Also, you encounter a new rebel fighter, the V-Wing. You fly shielded TIE Bomber Dagger 1. Mission 2: Patrol an area, capture a V-Wing for study. You fly Gunboat Sword 1. Mission 3: Attack a DREAD and 2 CRCKs. Engage fighters. You will fly V-Wing Prototype. Mission 4: Attack a Rebel training platform, surrounded by mines. There are also 18 V-Wings to destroy. You will fly V-Wing Captured 1. That's it! I hope you enjoy my battle! CMDR/BG Jordan/Flayer-I/ISD Subjugator Sith Acolyte Itach Mesorn Debriefings: ------------ 1. We have saved the Relentless from a cowardly attack by the Rebellion. Furthermore, we got to see some of these new V-Wings they are apparently building now. I am guessing that after we report our findings we will have to investigate them further. 2. You have captured a V-Wing and its already on its way to the science Office. I am sure that they will figure out how to recreate them. 3. While this was obviously not the launching base of the V-Wings, we did get to put it through its trails and destroyed three Rebel Capital Ships in the process... This should be a significant blow to the New Republic in this area. 4. You have completely destroyed the base where the Rebels were training pilots for their new spacegoing V-Wings. This should set their project back considerably. Furthermore you have proven the abilities of the V-Wing Mk.III in combat, the Science Office will be delivering them to a still undecided squadron in the Infiltrator Wing ASAP. Mission Hints: -------------- 1. Launch all your rockets at the enemy cruiser as soon as it is in range and tell your wingmen to attack it. They should finish it off, while you destroy any craft that are attacking either the Relentless or Fogger. 2. Do not immediately attack and destroy the Corvette, but wait for it to launch the V-Wing so you can disable it. Meanwhile deal with the Rebel Fighters. 3. Link and fire your warheads on the Dreadnaught upon flying in, then switch to dealing with the T-Wings and other fighters while your escorting craft destroy the cruisers. 4. Assign the platform to your wingmen and fire your own rockets at it. Call for reinforcements quickly, as your V-Wings aren't really equipped for this mission. You can reload your Rockets with ATR Arrowhead 1-2.
