Overall a fun set of missions that didn't really require all that much effort to be honest. Nothing crazy but also nothing to write home about. The final mission, the easiest thing to do is just go in as a missile boat and destroy the capital ships and then take out all the targets. I do find it weird when two platforms are molded into 1, because it is easy to mess up and kill the other by mistake.

Quite an enjoyable group of missions to be flown. My only issue is that there can be a little bit of waiting around if you finish the dogfighting quickly. No bugs found.

A very good battle. Well balanced missions with a flexible choice of fighters, so player can approach the same mission from different angles. The plotline is well written and throughout the campaign there are a lot of roles to assume. Solid, good battle. Do not miss this classic. The only thing I am not giving it a 5 it's because beam weapons were not available at all.

A very good battle with an excellent plotline to go with (I love it when ppl pick up EH events and turn them into flying missions). The thing I most enjoyed about it was the choice of flight groups and roles available for the player. The only mission I didn't enjoy was the second one, but the others look good.

Very well designed, very good plotline for a very good comp! However, I doubt my joystick will ever recover from the pain I caused it after mission 3...

X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter (SP) Battle Title: Wing IX: Encryption Error Missions: 4 Medal: Relentless Ribbon Author: SCO-TCT-TCS-PROF/FA Ender mBind/CS-10/SSSD Sovereign (mindb_ender@hotmail.com) Game Platform: X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter (+EHSP) Ships: TIE Advanced, TIE Defender, Assault Gunboat, Missileboat Difficulty: Easy. THESE LEVELS ARE NOT MADE, DISTRIBUTED, OR SUPPORTED BY LUCASARTS ENTERTAINMENT COMPANY. ELEMENTS TM & (c) LUCASARTS ENTERTAINMENT COMPANY. The Command Staff orders the Relentless and its Battle Group to hunt the Astromech down and retreive it before it falls into New Republic hands. Made for the Newsletter Competition Story Line ---------- [Read Plotline.txt in your /Misc folder for the debriefings and mission hints.] [Read the Storyline.htmls in your /Misc folder for the background story.] Mission1: To prevent enemy factions listening in on our communications we obviously utilize variable encryption on all messages. However, these encryption formats need to be changed regularly to prevent giving anyone the time to break it. Previously this process was done manually by all officers themselves, which is obviously vulnerable to leaks and very dependant on trust. To solve this matter the Tactical Office asked the Science Office to device a more automatic and secure system, which resulted in the "EHBL Machine" - basically a black box that can be hooked up to any transmission device that not only encrypts the messages but also alternates the encryption automatically. Now all Emperor's Hammer craft need to be equipped with the new encryptor, and within a short time because a transitional time gives our enemies more chance to break even this system. Mission2: All kinds of things went wrong at the delivery of the new EHBL Machines to the ISDII Relentless. Not only did we have to completely reinstall the software of various craft (and some still have problems) it also seemed that many of our crew need complete re-schooling to work with it effectively. Oh, and we had that attack by the NR Spine Security Force on our delivery craft - which was not that big a problem for Wing IX. However something did go very wrong in that battle, because our Dark Brotherhood contacts inform us that a rogue Dark Jedi somehow got her hands on an Astromech droid that carries vital information. We are hot on her trail though, which has leaded us to the neighbouring neutral Genko System. Here she probably hopes to sell off the Astromech to the Genkoan Dons - which is about the same as to the entire Galaxy because of their trade ethics. Mission3: Although Sword Squadron was successful in catching the rogue Dark Jedi just before she actually reached the Genko System, it seems that the damage has already been done: The Intelligence Division has reported to us that the Genkoans and the NR Spine Security Force have arranged a meeting about "Crypto logical Breakthroughs." Obviously we do not want this deal to go through: most of our craft have now been equipped with the new encryption and it would be a serious blow to our security (if not our budget and sanity) if the New Republic got their hands on it. Dagger, Crossbow and Arrowhead Squadrons will hyper to the location of the meeting, a civilian platform on the far end of the Minos Cluster, and capture all craft involved in the deal. We need the crews to make sure we have actually stopped the spread of the information. Mission4: After the right amount of physical motivation the captured crew of the Genkoan Shuttle disclosed the location of the Astromech droid that carries the encryption data. They also ensured us that no copies had been made because so far the Genko System has not been able to crack the Astromech's own encryption. The Astromech is being held at a lightly defended modified Genkoan Base near Pyrath. We again want to capture it in tact to make sure we finally have all the data back. Disabling the platform conventionally will however most likely also destroy that data. This end the crew of the Genkoan Shuttle we captured earlier have been sufficiently brainwashed by the Science Office to fly back to their Base and just disable its weaponry from the inside. The moment that happens we will launch transports to capture it. NOTE ------------------- You need XvT (or at least all the ships involved there) AND the EH Ship Patch for XvT. To fly as a team all players need the same version, make sure you all have the update by lucasarts installed. Other Information ----------------- This is the First release of a quickly made battle. Title: Wing IX: Encryption Error Missions: 4 Medal: Relentless Ribbon Author: SCO-TCT-TCS-PROF/FA Ender mBind/CS-10/SSSD Sovereign [Read readme.txt in your /Misc folder for the officer briefings and mission details] [Read the Storyline.htmls in your /Misc folder for the background story.] Debriefings: ------------ Mission1: Most of the "EHBL Machines", installing equipment and support staff have arrived on the ISDII Relentless. From there it will be redistributed across the Relentless Battle Group. At the moment the support staffs are already hard at work to install it on all our communication devises. The full blown attack by the New Republic Spine Security Force was quite unexpected, they must've been tipped off by someone - probably the infiltrator caught but lost again last night on the Sovereign. The appearance of COL Hawk's freighter, the "Ray of Light" would certainly point that way. This same freighter also went for the data back-up Astromech Ballista 2-4 ejected at its destruction. At first glance it seemed as if it ran straight into it and destroyed the data, but footage from surveillance camera's on the ISDII Relentless seem to show that it actually picked the Astromech up and ran off with it. Mission2: We caught the stolen Corelian Freighter in the act before it could enter the Genko Dreadnaught's hangar. Sword Flight 1 and Arrowhead 1-1 did an excellent job in disabling and capturing it and the rogue Dark Jedi that had stolen it. She has been handed over to the Security Office and the freighter has been impounded. Obviously we wouldn't have stood a chance without the new "No-Force Shielding" the Science Office was able to install in our fighters and the suits of our boarding party for this mission. The stuff worked perfectly and will probably see more use in future missions which may involve Force users. One weird problem is that we haven't been able to find the missing Astromech anywhere in the Corelian Freighter - we have started to take it apart to see if the infiltrator perhaps hid it somewhere in the structure. Mission3: You effectively disrupted the meeting between the Genko and NR-SSF representatives and helped capture the two shuttles involved. We were a bit early, but luckily that did not give the NR-SSF the chance to abort their mission. Sadly, the shuttles we captured did not contain the Astromech we are after, but their crews are under interrogation now. They might be "motivated" to tell us its location. We need that Astromech back to evaluate what has happened with it since it got stolen. The Franks deny any connection to the whole deal, claiming that the Genkoans on their platform were just considered to be regular customers. Of course that does not explain why their forces fired at us - they can expect a return visit in the near future. Mission4: We have successfully retrieved the missing Astromech, the Science Office is examining it now to see if we need to take further measure - but at the moment it would seem that all is well. The platform we have captured will be converted to an Emperor's Hammer Outpost in the Genko System. That would seem like a good method to keep these folks in line... at least for the moment. The "EHBL Machine" has now been installed on 90% of our craft, the other 10% trailing behind because of differences in software and configurations - but already the Tactical Office has declared the operation a success. Mission Hints: -------------- Mission1: This mission requires you to be at two places at once: The Light Calamari with its A-Wings attacks the mission critical craft, whereas the fighters launched from the Calamari Cruiser attack the ISDII Relentless. The Relentless can take quite a pounding though, so especially at first concentrate on getting the Shuttles safely away from the M/FRG Fogger. Keep in mind that also the Light Calamari will be attacking them - and you. Later on shift to protecting the ISDII Relentless from the Y-Wings and B-Wings that are making torpedo runs at it. The Calamari Cruiser itself also attacks our command ship, try to draw its fire. Do not stress too much about loosing 1 shuttle, the goals on this mission are fairly flexible. Mission2: This mission is mostly about working fast to disable the Corellian Transport while dog fighting your way through the Genkoan fighters in between the asteroids. The moment we arrive, the freighter changes its mind and starts running to a hyperspace point which will bring it to the New Republic, the same point at which a New Republic Frigate might arrive with a squadron of A-Wings. Ignore the fighters and head straight for the freighter to disable it. ATR Arrowhead 1-1 can take care of matters from there. Then just patrol the area around the freighter and ATR Arrowhead 1-1, make sure you keep some warheads to take out those Escort Shuttles. Mission3: The biggest problem you might face in this mission literally is the New Republic Spine Security Force Cruiser, which does not only launch fighters, but also attacks our boarding craft. Use your Mag Pulse Torpedoes on it (and on the Platform) and you will have a far easier time. For the rest concentrate your efforts on getting the Shuttles disabled as quickly as possible while protecting the Arrowhead Transports. If you are having too much of a hard time in your Gunboat, select a TIE Defender, but keep in mind that will lower your warhead load. Mission4: Again in this mission the biggest threat comes from the Enemy Cruisers, which attack our star ships and boarding craft. Select Heavy Rockets on your Missile Boat and take as many of them out as quickly as possible. This will also lower the amount of fighters thrown at you. After you have done so, concentrate your fire on the B-Wings and Y-Wings so they can't damage our star ships as much: loosing one means you fail the mission.
