BATTLEGROUP II REPORT #3 |
REPORTING OFFICER: Admiral Marenta Jean |
BATTLEGROUP COMMANDER'S LOG |
Day 1 (AGAIN) - Familiar, and yet not. I didn't think I would be back in the active fleet again so soon. Yet, I find that I missed it. I missed the hustle and the activity. I miss the comraderie and the rivalry. I missed the smell of freshly cleaned decks, the soft whirring of the MSE-6 droids as they scuttle along the passageways, and the routine that comes along with leading a set of pilots in the TIE Corps fleet. I am shocked that missed it, but as I look around, I know why I did. Day 12 (AGAIN) - Me? No, it's these kids. Today, without any prompting, one of my pilots called me ma'am. I may have had a minor panic attack, but I calmly informed the pilot that any number of monikers is okay, just not that one. As with any family, there's always a few who wish to cause irritation, and it must truly be out of love, because I cannot fathom why other pilots would encourage using the word ma'am to address me after I pointed it out. Perhaps some extra duty for those pilots is in order? Day 18 (AGAIN) - TEMDU Went on a brief assignment outside of the Battlegroup and I ended up liaising with another pilot from Battlegroup III. Was pleasant, but unfortunately the rigors of duty called us both back to post. Day 29 (AGAIN) - Possible new training simulator? After discussing some activity with the Internet Office, I was led to a possible new training simulator that the TIE Corps may utilize. This has brought me much excitement. I've seen the schematics and I do believe that the TIE Corps should move quickly on adopting this new program. I will speak with the TCCS about it shortly. I would ask you to wish me luck, but I am confident that this is a good platform for adoption and will be easily accepted. |
FROM THE DESK OF THE COMMANDER |
Starve your distractions, feed your focus. Imperial Storm 5 is over. I was not assigned as the BGCOM during the battle. I heard that the fighting was intense and there were many losses on both sides. I think there was some confusion about the outcome, but, in my mind, you are all stalwart defenders of justice and freedom throughout the galaxy. I am proud of all of your efforts in all of the hard-fought battles. Immediately after Imperial Storm comes Squadron (Re)Mobilization. I know that things are weighted differently this year. They've included the Imperial University back into the mix as well as putting some new requirements, like Wiki editing, up on the board. So far, I've seen a stellar amount of activity and playing across the Battlegroup, and that makes me excited to see such dedicated and hard working pilots. Regardless of the outcomes of this year's ReMob, just know that I am greatly enjoying the increased engagement. I will continue to hop into VCs and play with people, even though my contributions don't count toward ReMob. Addressing the rancor in the room: Captain JetMech. While I didn't anticipate being back in the Battlegroup again this quickly, I cannot express in stronger words and actions, than my gratitude toward the Captain/Rear Admiral. Not only did he step up to the plate when I had to step back, he did so with short notice on the eve of a major competition. I tried to hand over a well-oiled machine to him, but the truth is, I petered out there toward the end and relinquished a partially operating position. I was derelict in some of my duties that I had been quite diligent on prior to that point, and for that, I must ask that he forgive me that transgression. But, most of all, I want to thank him for taking over, cleaning up my mess, and looking after the amazing pilots of the Battlegroup. I also am humbled that he would ask if I would be willing to come back to the position, and if I were ready. So, my warmest, most deep, gratitude to Captain JetMech. A few administrative things to handle. While I was on the Phoenix, I heard about Training Certificates becoming a thing. I am very happy to see people take advantage of those and put more time and effort into the Imperial University. Along with the IU, I also very strongly encourage all of the pending Lieutenants who have not taken TCCORE to do so. If you need accommodations, or a VC study session, or something else that could help you get this done, please reach out to your squadron leadership or me and we can work on getting you through the exam. Also, another topic, if you're looking at possibly taking on an FL/XO/CMDR role, check out the SM/5 exam, I hear it's autograded like TCCORE is now and has new and exciting stuff in the notes! I changed the BGII-specific Voice Channel group. It is now Battlegroup II Will Rock You! Seeing as how the ISD Relentless has joined the Battlegroup, we may need to dig through the archives to find the last assigned individual for Wing IX Wing Commander. May also need to find the old banners and images and start a competition for new images. |
