REPORTING OFFICER: Major Vaner "Doc" Van'an, CMDR

Major Vaner "Doc" Van'an had just returned from the simulator after assisting in Analyzing the Ishtari Tactics with the help of Thunder Squadron CMDR LegionX. The pair had successfully recreated one of the encounters with the mysterious aliens and gained some invaluable intel on how the enemy fleet had operated in an effort to be prepared for another encounter with the relatively mysterious enemy. After settling into his office to begin some paperwork, Doc reflected on the past month. His squadron had performed well, but greatly appreciated the break for celebration and some shore leave to visit family.

Doc had been with the fleet for a little over a year now, and had found his place, getting more comfortable with his peers and many he would consider friends. When he first signed up, he had used a nickname: Vapen Vanman (affectionately coined by some of his pre-Empire acquaintances due to his fondness for large freighters and using an electronic smoking device while flying). It had been a little nerveracking to reveal to his Chain of Command that he had used a false name when signing up, but it had gone surprisingly well in getting his code cylinders and other identifiers switched to his given name:
Vaner Van'an.

Fleet News

There have been a number of new competitions recently released, including a number in Elite Dangerous. While this is an unsupported game for earning Legions, There are a number of Iron Stars available for a variety of activities in the game. If you have it, there has regularly been a group getting together to bounty hunt, trade, explore, and more!

Ship News

The newest season of Signal Scramble has begun (featured below)! The ship has been somewhat quiet since the holidays, it would be great to see you all chatting or hopping on to fly this month! It's been a while since I've caught a game with the squad.

Squadron News

Behind the scenes the flight leaders, CM Tiran Marr and CM Lobsord, have been working on a helmet template for the squadron. There's still a few tweaks to make and we will make a post soon to vote on your favorite! Look for that coming later this week!

Competitions that Caught the CMDR's Eye:

TIE Corps Jigsaw Puzzle Part 2
For 4 months, each month a new puzzle will be announced and pilots will compete for the best time with medals up for grabs for the top four fastest pilots as well as points accrued. At the end of each season, the top five pilots with the most points accrued will earn medals based on performance. In the event of a tie, the tie breaker will go to the pilot with the most 1st place wins.

Signal Scramble Infection
Marenta has tasked the Warrior to make up phrases for the letter combinations and polling the ship to determine which is the most likely. Every two weeks, Marenta will generate 3, 4, 5, and 6 random letter combinations and create a Google Form to allow Warrior personnel to fill out.

Commander's Office

While December closed out pretty slow for the squadron (understandable with the holidays), I would love to see an uptick in activity, especially with other squadmates! Or if any of you are interested in Elite Dangerous, I would highly recommend joining up one of these nights when a group gets together!
