EPSILON SQUADRON REPORT #4 |
REPORTING COMMANDER: General La'an |
FROM THE HANGAR |
La'an settled his Defender down on the deck, the gentle buzzing of the repulsorlifts and more powerful hum of the ion engines cutting out as he shut the fighter down and popped the hatch above him. Climbing out of his cockpit he swung a leg over the rim, pausing for a second while the ground crew quickly pushed the access ladder up against the hull. Sliding down it with practised ease, he landed harder than planned and felt the ache in his knees that reminded him why piloting was usually best done by the young. |
SQUADRON NEWS |
Too long has passed since my last report thanks to a range of domestic issues I won't bore you with, in which time IS4 has concluded and the relevant awards have been issued - a SS for CPT Gytheran, PCs for Lt ScorchTacoMan and LCM Isagar Sho'oter, with an ISM for LC Taygetta. All were hard fought and hard earned - Epsilon performed well and I'm genuinely pleased to see so many MSE medals result from such a long and protracted comp in which it would have been easy to lose interest or even give up when it become apparent that the Hammer wasn't going to win 1st place and that the Warrior was storming towards a well earned victory. A lot of heat and light was generated in discussions between the TC CS and CMDR+ leadership and I would note that the resulting briefings to the Hammer from the TCCOM seem to have gone a long way to addressing the concerns that were raised. Longer term I know the TC CS are taking a hard look at the larger comps we run and aiming to ensure that they're achieving the intended objectives - namely fun and engaging scenarios that bring us all together.
Despite my late reporting, the MSE was completed on the 3rd of the month so that element of squadron admin will not be delayed - May proved to be a very quiet month post-IS4 which was to be expected, but as we head deeper into June I'm keen to see activity levels rise again. Squadron Re-Mob is set to start on the 15th of this month so stay tuned for details and the tasks we'll aim to complete. You should all have noted we're down to 11 members following the transfer of COL Pellaeon to the RSVs - we obviously wish him the best and hope he'll return one day soon. I'm pleased to note that 2 other pilots in a similar position responded positively to my e-mails, but if anyone has comms with Lt Wookie9c I'd be grateful if they can ask them to get in touch. I'll continue to be accessible via e-mail as needed, but Discord will be the easiest way to reach me - as CMDR and COMM I can assure you I'm everywhere and there should be no reason why I can't be found if needed. I look forward to catching up with you all very soon! |
STANDING ORDERS |
STANDING EPSILON POLICY:
I have no intention of overturning or unduly modifying the previous CMDR's standing orders, therefore for now they are to be considered extant - they will be reviewed in detail soon but will likely not change wholesale. |
ROSTER |
Epsilon Squadron remains at 11 (-1) pilots strong - I hope to see this number back to 12 (or 16 depending on how the larger squadron trial works out), but where required by the review process be advised that I won't shy away from making clear recommendations on transfers. Likewise, if anyone wishes to depart the squadron please let me know and we can take the required admin action, rather than drifting out of touch over a period of months. |

CLOSING COMMENTS |
Back on track with regular reporting, as ever if there's anything needed from me then get in touch - once we get clear of Re-Mob we'll be in a position to look towardes Epsilon focused comps, but the current amount of ship and TC comps is more than enough to occupy us. Stay tuned to the TC News page for updates, as well as all relevant Discord channels. End transmission, GN La'an |
