The all too familiar of officer chatter distantly passed through the crack in the sliding door that led to this little hole in the wall. He could have probably fixed that door days ago, but mechanics were never his strong suit, and Xylo knew it better than to rush the engineers on the Challenge, half their time occupied containing spill hazards. That was of course, the thought that distracted him from the crushing want to join his fellow officers in whatever they were doing, wasn't there something about a plan these coming cycles? He couldn't remember. Scatterbrain, a fitting adjective, not just for the mental state, but also the rather messy state of the small Office, stacked with antiquated papers on one end to complete, but barely a buzz from the communicator on his left, held under the dying light of a recharging datapad, crammed in the wall.
Xylo had of course, been all too willing to give up his Star Destroyer neck space on the return of the Wing Commander in exchange for this smaller space to work, most nights were still spent on bunks after all, but the size was more than limiting just his physical space. Memories, those painful memories, of his Mother's open wood school, or those night spent with Graf in the well cushioned Eagle command office. He looked out across the small steel space, and the dullness of the Star Destroyer halls briefly put a thought of longing for the round and roughed cruisers of his past. It didn't last long though, a pair of eyes poking sideways through the crack in the door, the fact they'd neglected to open it letting him know who it was before they'd even spoken, a small smile on his face.
"Commander Sir, I was just getting Flight 2's nightly team training on, and then the Masons showed up and well..."
"Cody, you know you can just call me Captain Xylo right? You're the Commander around here after all, let me guess, LQC is giving you all the ringer in sims?"
"No actually, that was last night, there's an uh, situation, in the bunks, not sure if it's safe, not sure if I should endorse it...."
Xylo raised a small eyebrow at that, maybe he couldn't help that curious side of him still. Standing up affirmitavely from the old desk, but making sure to at least name the idle paperwork he'd been poking at, he gestured for the flight leader to open the broken door the whole way.
"Well then let's have a look shall we? maybe we can make a decision together, not like it'll be too difficult to make too much more of a mess out of these bunks."
"The Sub Lieutenants see to that its true, at least they're having fun, its good to see them speaking again."
"It is good isn't it, say, Cody?" the Captain and Commander spoke as they quickly boarded the turbolift straight down into the back crew bunks, a small smirk on Xylo's face.
"Yes Comm.. Captain sir?"
"Wasn't it your bunk with the batuu's dozen ripped sketches on it? Engineers say they were cleaning them out of the mouse droids for a whole cycle."
The Flight leader seemed to snap straight, and then melt into a hair scratching smile, just as the turbolift, ever efficient, opened and others took their place. "Y-Yeah, that was mine, you should see some of the finished works though! I think Flight 2 has a brand new name and logo we can be proud of."
"That is an interesting outcome for them, I did see what looked to be a fork on one of the crumples."
"Fork, sir?"
"Oh uh, Pardon, New Republic habits die hard, TIE Interceptors, the salad eating ships."
"Guess I'm glad we've been totally finishing those new nutrition packs down at the Cantina"
Xylo had to suppress an uncharacteristic chuckle as they rounded the corner to the orange emblazed Inferno bunk quarters, at this point he swore he could assemble his family from the pieces of everyone on the Challenge, maybe he already could. Swinging open the sliding door to the muffled music within the flight 2 room, perhaps an actual fire was not what the Captain was expecting. There in the center of the small room was a camping like stove, turned over on a mouse droid, tiny flames flickering up to meet many a meal pack hovering over it, a collection of Lieutenant classes spread tightly around it. All of them froze when the door opened of course, looking up at the stunned face of their Commander. Instead of spewing the standard safety protocols however, the smell of smoke brought Xylo back to Courstillious again for but a moment, and he smiled. He could deal with the Engineers and safety officers later, for now, he smiled, and motioned to the fire and a small chocolate in his pocket.
"First of all Inferno, why was I not invited to this barbecue, and secondly, do any of you know how to make a good Hosnian Hole?"

Closing Comments, Competitions, and Announcments
I first and foremost want to apologize for this report long in the making, you have my word Infernos you'll see more of these, hopefully better and better, as we go on. I also want to thank all of you for letting me be your Commander, I know I haven't been the best organized, but I hope the fun and family you all enjoy has not dissipated. We have yet more time together and I hope I can make that family feel fire forth yet more. On the Competitions side be sure to be on the look out for Squadron Remobilization here soon^tm. I've heard a lot of feedback about what we should change, and we'll do our best to make it happen. I serve as the humble servant that merely tends to the Bonfire, the sparks are within you all, and I have all the tinder to help you let it catch fire, so never feel afraid to let it burn in my DMs or my Emails, Fire forth Inferno, onward to another month!
