REPORTING COMMANDER: Commander Genie. Squadron Commander

The long anticipated Squadrons is finally out. And with it, came an unprecedented activity buzz, both in-game and on discord as a big portion of our EH pilots hit the 'streets'. I never thought I would see the day when a Y-wing, boasting the maneuvrability of a half-full bathtub would pose a danger to a TIE Interceptor and yet here we are. Credit to EA, the game is amazing and is more or less what we expected it to be. There are a few bugs, which I hope EA will sort out soon(tm).

This is Lambda's 3rd week and is extra special as several new competitions are starting. Including three squadrons-related competitions, as well as our first week of Star Wars Trivia!

In other news, LT Corran Shub could not resist the smell of beetroots and has joined our squad as the Flight Leader of Flight 2. Cornelia had to step down from this role, as a result.

Every week, I try to bring you an interview with one of our Lambda Squad members. This week, our focus is on LT Baiet. One of Lambda's Ace Pilots and a promising prospect.

Genie: Hi Baiet, how are you man?

Baiet: I'm doing pretty good how about yourself Genie!

Genie: I'm great myself thank you :) Remind me, how did you join Emperor's Hammer?

Baiet: Well I was scrolling on Reddit and happened upon COL Zekk Terrik's recruitment post and thought 'Hey, this sounds pretty neat'. Lo and behold I'm Lambda 2-4

Genie: Hehehe, excellent! You joined the best squad in the fleet. We work hard and play even harder! What are your thoughts so far with the Emperor's Hammer?

Baiet: I've loved my time here. As most know I came in during the busiest month of the year with RtF happening and I jumped right in! The attitude is really nice and being able to have people to banter with is awesome!

Genie: I absolutely agree :) EH is about playing the games you love playing in the company of others. And of course if you like to RP a bit, even better. As for RtF, you really rose to the occasion! Beating Woody on MP is mission impossible. He took it so hard he handed in his resignation (joking). I noticed you already dived right in to Squadrons. What are your first impressions of the game?

Baiet: Regarding the MP front, Me and Woody really went at it and it was a good fight! Now my impressions of Squadrons, as a newer player to Star Wars sims, I absolutely loved it! I didn't have any issues at launch and was able to just jump straight into the game. I actually ended up almost beating the campaign on the day it came out!

Genie: Yeah, thanks to your 'australian' internet. ;) You did the right move. I didnt play that first night as I waited for the european release. Before Squadrons, did you play much the other Xwing Series games?

Baiet: Before EH? I wasn't even aware they existed. Before Squadrons though I started playing through the campaigns of XWA, XvT, and TIE, which I immensely enjoyed.

Genie: Once the initial Squadrons Fever subsides, I strongly recommend revisiting them. They don't make games like that anymore.

Baiet: Oh I definitely plan to!

Genie: Are you an avid Star Wars fan or more like middle of the range?

Baiet: I would definitely say I'm an avid Star Wars fan.

Genie: Favourite Star Wars Movie?

Baiet: I know I'll get some crap for it but I love Revenge of the Sith.

Genie: Not at all. What makes that your favourite movie? (I think I also like that one the most btw) It gave us after all Yoda vs Palpatine and Obi vs Anakin. Palpatine stole the show in that movie.

Baiet: I loved the fights between Obi and Anakin as well as the score of the movie. My all time favorite Star Wars song is Battle of the Heroes and it's from Revenge of the Sith.

Genie: Excellent choice of a song. Mine continues to be the Imperial March :) Favourite Star Wars character?

Baiet: Hmm that's a hard one. I would probably have to say Darth Revan.

Genie: I don't even know who that is! :)

Baiet: He was a Jedi Knight turned to the dark side after the Battle of Malachor V during the Mandalorian Wars. One of my favorite characters definitely. He was in the original KOTOR.

Genie: I havent played KOTOR. I'll be sure to check him out though! Final thoughts before we conclude this interview? :)

Baiet: I would say you are doing a great job as a Commander and I would like to say congrats to LT Corran Shub for becoming FL of flight 2!

Genie: Corran is just as crazy as me, so he fits right in. And thank you for your kind words. I hope to make Lambda a fun place to be for all of us. Enjoy Squadrons!

Hammer pilot of the month - 2020: For every flown SP mission from the TC mission compendium and for every LoC/LoS earned each pilot receives 1 point for the Hammer pilot of the month competition.

TIE Corps Competitions:
Shakespearean-esque lyrics for modern songs: Organized by Talons Pryde. Identify the song title and artist from the alternate wording for either the title of a set of lyrics.
Cryp-TAC: Every time there's a new TAC report (sent by PickledYoda), it will contain at least one (but maybe several) cryptic clues related to the EHTC or Star Wars.
The TIE Pilot Podcast: Hosted by Zekk and Jack. Email your suggestions to Zekk on topics to cover during the Podcast.
TC PvP Shootout: Organized by AD Miles, COL Horus and CM EvilGrin. On every Saturday starting at 6:00 PM Eastern/11:00 PM GMT, a PvP shootout will take place. The COO and COOA are the main points of contact. Voice communication is preferable but not required. Game hosting will be directed through GameRanger
Everyone's a Critic: Write reviews for free missions and battles.
TIE Corps in Battle 2020: Every month, there will be a full battle assigned to fly, from each of the major SP platforms (TIE, XvT, XWA).

Be sure to check out all the running competitions. As Lambdas, to know the competitions you are eligible for, under 'Units Involved' it must be listed as 'Entire TC', 'ISD-II Hammer', 'Wing I' or 'Lambda Squadron'.
