Battle Reviews

I really enjoyed the detailed story of this battle and I thought the missions were quite fun to fly.

I am admittedly a sucker for battles that try to incorporate historical EH events into them, so I am very predisposed to like this one. But I thought it was pretty great! Great briefings, solid plot, good design. It provides a number of missions that asks the player to do something different from the norm, which I also greatly enjoy. So maybe it's just hitting me in the right place, serving up the kind of thing I'm looking for in the compendium these days, but I loved it.

An interesting plot kicked off by a silly fun first mission.

My ninety-forth battle in the TIE Corps.

An interesting mission, though the first one where you're setting up for a party I don't really understand. Not sure how that fit into the story line exactly. Mission 5 has a slight bug that can be worked around by sending home your wingmen and then harassing the Idiot's Array giving the enemy T/B's a chance to get ordinance away at the Intrepid. This bug really should be addressed though.

I flew this as part of Raise the Flag competition 2021. Overall, the battle seemed straightforward with no major hang-ups. There is not much to say about it. It was fun but the battle did not contain any elements that makes it stand out from nearly every other battle you have ever flown.

A very good battle. Most missions are action packed yet following closely the excellent plotline. It revives old memories of the split of the rDB and it's greatly put into flying missions. The only assignment that bluntly fell out of place was mission 1, exceedingly long and pointless in my opinion. Otherwise, this is an excellent battle.

I enjoyed these missions until the one where you have to shoot the corvette down to 25% one. For me the Corvette went into the base and I ended up shooting the base with lasers until it died. Somehow that finished the mission but it took a lot longer than I care about to figure that part out.

I played on Easy. These missions were mostly pretty quick. There's some waiting around and idle time, but it's definitely not the worst I've seen. The hit-boxes on the transports in the final mission are always weird, but that's not the mission's fault.

A mixed bag of goods. A lot of great effort was put into creating very specific scenarios. Mission 5 is the one that best demonstrates it. Excellent and yet it left you scratching your head a bit as some events within it were not clear.

The plot is pretty good and the missions are mostly bug-free, but I don't really consider this a DB battle as you seemingly only play as a DB Battleteam once. This could easily have been marketed as a TC battle with generic Imperial defectors, and it would likely have worked better.

A solid battle, but there were some inconsistencies from mission to mission. Like other DB missions, the choice of craft was a little suspect. Personally, it was hard to attack a squadron of TIE/INs flying as Rho Squadron with Rebel IFF.

A really enjoyable battle. Looking forward to flying part 2! :)

To be honest, plot is pretty good, but from time to time unclear. Some missions are extremly good, some very poor. Overall, an average battle.

Good set of mission, No real problems

Mission 5, one objective is to allow the Intrepid to be driven off (which requires shields dropped to 50%). However, your wingmen (if you dont send them home) and the Idiot's Array (who on easy was invulnerable) slaughter the T/Bs before they can complete their objective. I spent the mission trying to distract the Array so the T/Bs could launch, but still had to attack the Intrepid (my command ship) myself in order to get the shields low enough to compete the objective and finish the mission.

Throughout: Clan Ludo Kressh is spelt incorrectly.

Mission 1: Some of the transport craft collide with the Asteroid Tent. Pirate starships have no waypoints.

Mission 3: Whats up with the 'comp 9' goals?

Mission 4: Rebel capital ships do not have patrol and attack orders, instead they are set to 'circle waypoints'.

This Battle is the beginning of Yoda and Choosh's fictional explanation of the Dark Brotherhood Crises for Mission Creation Wars Round 2. It involves confusion of alignment, and subterfuge. Enjoy, and be on the lookout for part 2. And feel free to review this battle.
WARNING: MAY HAVE SPOILERS!!!!

------------------------------------------
M1:	A very serious matter is at hand. The Dark Brotherhood is no longer in contact with Ronin and Astatine. The Aggressor Strike Force, and the TIE Corps Battlegroups have been dispatched to discover why. Before we can depart, we must meet up. It was decided to have the TIE Corps Battlegroups to come to the ASF base. Admiral Darksaber has ordered us to make the TCBG as comfortable as possible when the arrive. We are doing so in the only way we know how, throwing a party, while the Flags settle the details of our operation. Avenger, Tartarus, Asp, and Hornet squadrons have been tasked with cleaning the place up. There is quite a bit of junk in this sector, and we want to look our best for the TCBG. All the others will be setting up the party, and building the large inflatable tent in the shape of an asteroid that Darksaber bought to have the party in. It is important that we have a good time before we leave. It could get tough after this.

------------------------------------------
M2:	We have just dropped out from hyperspace at our first checkpoint on the way to Eos. The TIE Corps Battlegroup is a few hours behind us for security reasons, and we will meet them in the Eos system. The Vanguard is being kept in reserve for their special operations assignments when we reach the Eos system, while two squadrons are on aleart, and one in reserve from both the Grey Wolf and the Intrepid. Currently it's Phoenix and Odin assigned with Capital ship defense, and Copperhead escorting Krayt's heavy assault mission. Valkyrie (Heavy Assault) and Viper (Strike) are in reserve. Sensor officers on all three ships have detected a group of pirates coming in system. Fighters on duty are being launched, and Valkyrie and Viper will be waiting (Shift-S to call them). Don't leave a single pirate alive

------------------------------------------
M3:	We have now reached the outskirts of the Eos system, the home base of the Dark Brotherhood. As you know, we have not recieved any communications from the Dark Brotherhood for about a month. The ASF is making a swing around to the other side of the system, and reporting back, directly to Astatine. AD Darksaber and AD Krax have agreed to split between the ASF and TCBG. Currently Pi and Eta are on patrol, with Iota in reserve (shift-S). It is probably just a simple communications malfunction, but we must expect the worse. Get to your ships

------------------------------------------
M4:	We have just made our report to SA Astatine, which included the message from AD Krax on the Tridens-Ludo Cresh dilema. We have told him there is most likely a civil war going on within the Dark Brotherhood, but we don't know. He has ordered us to launch spies and recons to determine if this is the case. He is also sending a new BGCOM, and new COMs and WCs for the Avenger Task Force, just in case the current ones are not loyal. There are also contingency plans in place for each clan and house in the DB.
It is now time for the squadrons aboard the Vanguard to do their part. We are sending Scorpion to find information on all of the planets and moons in the Eos system. This will give us good information. Echo will be helping spies, provided by the ID, get inserted. Wasp is going to contact every house, clan, and GM Firefox himself as to what is going on. Mantis, Hornet, and Python will remain on call for when new assignments come up. Wings XIII, and XIV will be on standby for now.

------------------------------------------
M5:	AD Darksaber and AD Krax are very busy as of now trying to make sense of things. They have come to the conclusion that clan Tarentium is telling the truth, and there is a split in the Dark Brotherhood, with Firefox breaking away from the EH. But we need more information.

We are going to plant a spy on Eos. To do this, CRV Tarentium is going to defect to the Dark Brotherhood. Follow them and attack to make it look realistic.

Asp Squadron, in their Tie Phantoms, will fly cloaked to Eos and wait for the CRV.

Bring the CRV to 25% shields and allow the Intrepid to be driven off.

------------------------------------------
M6:	Wingpairs from Odin Flight One and Phoenix Flight Three are on patrol around the ISD Grey Wolf.

We have just recieved word that the ISD Vanguard is under attack by a Dark Jedi Clan we believe is allied with the rogues. The Intrepid has been dispatched to assist. Darksaber and Krax are standing by their decision that the Dark Jedi have gone rogue. If they are not rogue, these battles will be hard to explain, and they might still go rogue. Thankfully we have our spies to tell us which is the case.

Stay Alert.

------------------------------------------
M7:	We have recieved word that our spy, along with some supplies, are being moved from Eos to a new base.
Our mission has two parts.
One, we will retake the spy, as it may be our only chance to extract him for a long time.
Two, we will disrupt their supplies as much as possible.

INT Vertex will drop the convoy's ships out of hyperspace.
Tartarus Squadron, the Wing Commanders Escort for March 2003, will fly their Tie Defenders and disable the spy's ship.
A back-up flight is available for reinforcements.

We are now fully commited, as all previous reports by all of our spies and recon elements have shown that Firefox has gone rogue. There is no going back
