Battle Reviews

I would have liked to give this battle a five for its particularly well written briefings and excitingly hectic missions but too often does the battle have you wait on very slow ships for long periods of time.

My nineteenth battle in the TIE Corps.

Average but solid battle, fun to fly, with a variety of roles throughout the story. One word of advice in the disabling the asteroid base mission, clean up the minefield and the enemies BEFORE disabling the station, and send your wingmen home, because CRV Slaughter is manned by the Three Stooges and inevitably goes into the minefield of death. Besides this, a good battle

Great battle, I enjoyed flying it. Many different objectives made the battle that much more fun to fly.

BATTLE SUMMARY: Eons-old Lyccos II alien ruins are to be studied, collected and catalogued by Imperial
scientists and anthropologists in the yawning caverns of the conquered planet. The pillaging of the barbaric
world, the utter subjugation of its peoples and the expropriation of its ancient secrets and riches must be
completed without interference. Infiltrator Wing will maintain space superiority at Lyccos II through the
remainder of this extensive operation

CONTINUITY NOTE: This battle and its two companion battles are set in the time
period of the aftermath of IW operations vs. the Rebel Squadrons in progress as
of August 1998.

BUG NOTE: When Mission 3 begins loading in TIE CD, you may get a disk error
message. Hit F for fail and it will load normally. This Battle is not
recommended for TIE disk users because it uses asteroid platforms, which default
to PLTs in the disk version and therefore the missions do not run true to their

DIFFICULTY NOTE: Play these missions on Hard setting, but if you find Mission 4
to be too difficult, fly it on Medium setting.

FILES NEEDED, ETC.: This TIE Fighter battle uses custom Rebel ships, allowing
the pilot to fly the X-wing. B-wing, etc. Download the ship files, Tiepatch and
any other needed files from the Emperors Hammer (www.emperorshammer.org) or the
Infiltrator Wing (www.infiltratorwing.org) domain pages. NOTE: For what it's
worth, in the X-wing Collectors Series version of TIE, I found that I did not
need to run Tiepatch with it. All I did was load all the appropriate special
ship files in the appropriate folders and the game ran the Rebel ships fine.

MISSION 1 INFO: X-wing Silver is overseeing operations at a transit point near
Lyccos II where Emperors Hammer heavy lifters are due to pick up cargo craft
carrying treasures our anthropologists have "acquired" from troves of riches in
the conquered cavern states of the planet. The transits are being observed by
organized crime bosses of one of the cavern states who have decided to cooperate
with our campaign rather than continue the folly of opposing the IW's
determination and might.

BRIEFING: Shoot first if any unauthorized craft enter the area. Our schedules
for looting all the cavern states will not allow any complications. Forces of
the Bismarck must ensure smooth operations.

SHIP USED: X-wing Silver (3), MC-90 Bismarck, A-wing ??, HLF Anteater (5),
M/CVYR Crypt (5), B-wing Vulture (2), CRV Hurn, CRV Grodan, R-41 Fogger (2), A-
wing Ripper, A-wing Magenta, X-wing Cavern 21.

GOALS: HLFs, M/CVYRs, CRVs must complete mission. Bonus: All enemies destroyed.

MISSION 2 INFO: B-wing Vulture must disable two Outlaw CRVs we have detected
near an asteroid field. The crews are intelligence officers whose heads contain
the information we need to root out remaining resistance in the Lyccosian arena.
Clean this up fast so there are no complications for the expected arrival of INT
Vernichtung and the SSSD Sovereign; cover the arrival of IW and EH leaders'
shuttles to the Bismarck for a high-level strategy conference.

BRIEFING: Vulture must cover a lot of ground to capture the CRVs and protect our
leaders' craft. Two other IW starfighter groups will assist.

CRAFT USED: B-wing Vulture (2); X-wing Knight (3); Y-wing Shadow (2); MC-90
Bismarck; CRV Cutthroat, M/CRV Buccaneer; ATR Image; ATR Cropp; INT Vernichtung;

must arrive; E/Ss must complete mission; M/FRG Star Slam must be inspected.

MISSION 3 INFO: M/FRG Star Slam traced to hidden Outlaw enclave; Major gathering
of Outlaw, traitorous Cavern 17 and even Rebel and rival Imperial forces must be
broken up and destroyed; Bismarck driven away.

BRIEFING: MIS Koph, T/D Koph, IW groups attack platforms; Bismarck on station,
needs help; capture one of traitorous Outlaw CRVs.

CRAFT USED: MIS Koph (3), T/D Koph (3), A-wing Crusader (3), MC-90 Bismarck;
M/FRG Star Slam, PLT Raven Home, PLT Mortar Blast, B-wing Raver (5), GUN Scream
(4), GUN Armoth (4), CRV Huntara (2), Y-wing Coma (4); Y-wing Shadow (2); ATR

GOALS: Destroy PLTs, destroy M/FRG Star Slam, inspect CRVs; capture one CRV;

MISSION 4: Mines protect Lyccossian treasure caches; location tortured out of
turncoat crime lords.

MISSION 5: Attacks on starfighters defending outlaw and rebel enclave/staging

MISSION 6: Destroy base, capture leaders to set up next battle; capture
Saratoga, which has been taken over by magicians in the conveyors captured in
Mission 1.
