Everything everyone has written about this battle is true. It is a technical feat. It is frustrating. It is incredibly creative and ambitious. It is sometimes wildly tedious. It's very much the definition of love it or hate it, and while I am absolutely blown away by how well crafted it is... I would not say I necessarily enjoyed playing it. But it definitely deserves respect!
Struggling between 1 and 5. The missions are very creative and you will probably see things you haven't seen this way. But they are cumbersome and very repetative. Mission 4 cannot be flown in XWAU.
OMG! This is certainly different than any other XWA battle in the Mission Compendium. It doesn't feature lots of plot action BUT it's designed as a real challange for the pilots. Hey of course I got disabled twice in the first mission and it was frustrating, alright - The real shocker was getting the effort failed by moving from the bouy! The first rule of flying came to mind... FTFO! Follow The Frickin Orders! Heh. And the fourth mission is a masterpiece. I know nothing about mission disigning, but I can imagine how dificult it was to make no. 4. And when all the mission objectives turned green after 5 attempts I felt REALLY REALLY PROUD of myself. That rarely happens when playing computer games. The battle diserves a 6 IMO. 5 must do.
Whilst innovative, this is a horrible, horrible battle. Far too frustrating for my liking; I'd prefer to see this kind of innovation in a proper battle scenario rather than a set of training missions, typically involving mines and flying an unshielded TIE (why? what is the obsession, people?!). I know some people must love the way the battle-maker has achieved some of the things in this battle, but that alone doesn't make it good or (more importantly) fun.
All i'm saying is if completing this was required to join the sith order in the EHDB there'd only be a dozen of us or so, but the battle is quite good & a technical masterpiece;p.
A technical masterpiece.
Hard as hell, but great training battle! Some of your best work Gidda!
