Solid example of how to ruin an outstanding battle and turn it into a mess. The plot is very interesting as it unfolds with several twists. The missions are very hard indeed, lots of action and thinking, but somehow, eventually, they can be flown through. But then, you reach mission 5. A total mess. You fly X-W around a series of containers shielding some satellites that have to be destroyed, again, an original and well developed plot, but you can't kill an annoying A-W behind you trying to kill you, because it's your best friend or something. And what's worse, even if you avoid the fire raining on you by the best gunners in the galaxy aboard a rebel CRS, AND manage to destroy a CRV with just old torps, AND even manage to kill all satellites and containers, AND again help the GUNs to sink the CRS, some idiot that won't obey your orders, may randomly kill the A-W, (after all the IFF is rebel), failing the mission, repeatedly. A complete disaster in the planning and total lack of beta testing. If you want to see how fumes sprout from both of your ears, do not hesitate. This one is for you!. Otherwise, veer elsewhere.
A well-written battle, hellishly hard on difficult, as the author says. I enjoyed the plotline, but I also killed my "former friend" a few times too... Too bad, Kiru... :P
The plotline/storyline is quite good, but mission four is particularly evil, make sure you read the readme.txt about this battle!
The storyline was great, although the missions were ok; they were in some cases made abnormally hard due to poor flightgroup orders and lack of friendly firepower. Few times during the battle, all my wingmen were killed off attacking M/FRG with Concussion missiles. But all said and done this is a very good battle that’s worth flying – XWA version would have been brilliant!
High praise. =) I am flattered. ^^ I didn't intend for this battle to overly difficult. I think most pilots will find this battle to be fairly playable on easy and medium, and hellishly difficult on hard. As it should be. =) Pay attention to the messages, read the briefings, and if you really have to, read the hints and tips found in the readme, and you should be able be able to beat this battle. Good luck. =) And if I say so myself.. For my first effort, this battle turned out great. Now I have to try XWA..
It was extremely confusing for me to give this a fair review...You see, its a brilliant battle, toppled with some magnificent plots and VERY talented mission designing skills. HOWEVER, its just about the hardest thing you will ever fly on BoP. Other then that I'm a firm believer that Kate was extremely easy on Kiru, I must've accidently killed her 8 or 9 times while I flew this...If my best friend defected, I'd shoot him in a second :P I guess she's just not as evil as me...yet. Also, this battle had some good technical points, namely the engine assembly exploding, and the shields for the Sats (although they made me so mad I punched the screen repetitevly and hurt my knuckles...ow). In addition the missions are fairly long, however at the end you're met with a nice short reward. Be vigilant, the goals aren't very obvious in every mission, we at TAC attempted to add a bit more detail into the mission goals but their slightly vaguer to what the average TC pilot is used to. This battle is something worth flying.

M1: In flight msg about Cyclone's arrival appears when the last arrives, not the first, A-W must survive but friendlies destroy it
M4: friendlies attack AW Darkfire
M5: in flight msg about BW Gold appears when the last has arrived, not the first, in M4 the CRS was disabled (mission goal) yet in M5 it's fully operational again?

Unable to fly via EHBL, the IMPERIAL.LST seems bortked - only mission #5 can be chosen

Mission 1: Message indicating the arrival of Cyclone squadron only appears when the final wave has launched. T/A Cyclone sometimes crash into the ISD Challenge when leaving the area. Mission 3: The nav beacon is a gun platform. Mission 5: Warning about B-W Gold only appears when the final wave launches.

Unable to start Mission 5... BoP Crashes just as the 2nd Blue bar completes. I have re-installed BOP just to be sure its not a "Bad" install. Still get an Application error. (BoP Crashes)

TITLE: Flyer Chronicles # 1 - Sisters in Arms MISSIONS: 5 MEDAL: Flyer's Crescent GAME PLATFORM: Balance of Power This battle requires the EH BoP Ship Patch. AUTHOR: Lt. Katherine Cantor "Valkyrie" Flyer FM/LT Katherine Cantor Flyer/Typhoon 2-3/Wing X/ISD Challenge [CoB][LANC]{IWATS-HIST-RT-WPN-XTM/1/2-XTT} _________________________ INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Back up your Imperial.lst file in \\BalanceofPower\Train directory. 1] Double Click the .EHM file and EHBL will pop up. 2] Check the Misc folder in your XvT one for additional material like patches, sounds etc. 3] Press the Balance of Power button to start Balance of Power and fly the battle. ____________ Plotline: You are Lt. Kate "Valkyrie" Flyer of Typhoon Squadron, a former mercenary pilot who recently joined the Emperor's Hammer. As Kate, you will battle with your comrades in Typhoon against wiley rebels, traitors, and even a best friend from your previous life. To your ship, pilot! ____________ Hints: # 1. Destroy the CORT Stardust when it arrives, or it will quickly dock with and capture the Tantalus. Don't ignore A-W Blue either, because it will make a beeline for the Tantalus. Disable it as quickly as possible, and the battle should be won. # 2. The Y-wings are the primary threat - Focus your fire on them, or they will take out the Challenge. Ignore the Rebellious' attack on DS12 - If you try to save the doomed platform, the Challenge will be lost, and it is your primary mission objective! # 3. Wade through the host of enemy starfighters, and hold on to your torpedoes. It may not seem overly difficult until the end, but remember that you have only one wave! Use your torpedoes on the M/SC when the fighters are taken care of, then make a beeline for the hyperspace beacon and inspect it. Watch out for the fighters that appear between the M/SC and the hyperpoint: They will target you, and are out for blood. Max speed to engines! # 4. Your best bet is to hit Container Shield IV first, or you will have to deal with evading a M/CRV later. Get far enough way from the Ad Astra to use your torpedoes, then finish off the comm sat with your lasers. Use your torpedoes while evading the enemies as best you can. Be careful that you don't shoot down Kiru! You will fail if you do! Instead, she will withdraw when her hull is down to 50 percent. When the Formidable arrives, target the enemy Y-wings, since the bombers should be able to help themselves. If you don't, the Y-wings stand a decent chance of destroying the Formidable. Don't let that happen! # 5. Target and destroy the containers and a transport as quickly as you can, or they will depart relatively soon, losing the mission. Then do your best to evade enemy fire while taking out the GPLT and mines. When those are finally gone, the Rebellious and the Challenge will arrive, and you will join in the destruction of the Rebel fleet. Focus in on the B-wings that are moving in on the INT, and you should be fine. When Kiru launches, ignore her at your own peril - She is packing advanced missiles, and is heading straight for you! Defeat her to win the mission, and help bring closure to Kate's past. __________________________ LAST WORDS FROM THE AUTHOR: This is my first battle, but I am rather proud of it. It is meant to be more plot driven, so there will be quite a number of messages. Be sure to read the description before each mission! In general, I think most pilots will find this battle moderately challenging, though I didn't intend it to be overly so. Enjoy the missions, post a review or two, and have fun! ___________________________________________________________________ These mission were made using Troy Dangerfields XvT mission editor.
