An enjoyable battle with a solid plot, just make sure you install the patch first
Don't be Wolve.........install the patch instead of spending 90 minutes failing over and over again on mission 6 because you have to laser down a SSD. Other than that, really interesting design on these missions with a decent story too. One of the better missions I've flown despite struggling on some of it. Worth a fly.
Overall, not a bad set of missions. Briefings or maps could have given a little more backstory into who your enemies were and could have gotten me more invested. As far as mission design is concerned, the battles were easy to follow and I felt like a good part of the action. One major complaint I have with the last mission is just how long it took to destroy the Repair Yard. Half of that mission's time was just shooting at that repair yard which was a major chore to complete. If there was a 2.5 rating, that's what I would give. However, the lack of story context and the tedious final mission brings this battle down a bit.
Missions 1 and 4 are precious gems and a reminder of Frodo's ingenuity and creativity. I like this battle overall. I flew this with the dockyard fix so there were no SSD issues here (be sure to take the patches on display).
An average mission with some typical Frodo silliness, but a storyline that actually makes some sense and is enjoyable to fly. My only gripe is the inspection mission and escape mission are way too quick, but that just means you can get to the next battle quicker, I guess!
This is a perfect example of how to destroy an otherwise fine and solid battle. The plotline is fun and engaging, and the missions unfold in a series of hard and challenging yet very original missions. Dogfight, heavy escort, even a rescue attempt and escape run. It had it all to be a golden classic. But, alas, poor beta testing is definitely a disease. Final mission requires to sink a SSD and a REPYD with a bunch of GUNs with rockets that barely scratch the paint off the giant ship. Additionally, ISD Vanguard is piloted by wookies, smurfs or plain bad programming, and irremediably runs into the SSD, dying every time, of course. Frustration, is a word that does not describe the full-extent of the emotion felt after spending some 45 minutes and realizing there is nothing that can be done, but to have been wise enough to skip this battle. Stay away.
The answer to your question is quite simple Mike, you need the Golan 3 Patch installed, which replaces the SSD and is much, much easier to destroy. Have fun. As for more my own review, it is a very well made battle created of MCW and quite interesting! Very worth installing the patches.
Well. Last mission and killing SSD with lasers ruined the whole show. All the missions were great but 35 mins spent on the last made my blood boil. Why there are no support fighters with HRs? Krayt is not enough to deal with SSD :(
What can I say, it's a battle about the TAC & tac staff, with a decent plot & missions!

In mission 5, ISD Vanguard goes ramming the SSD and dies, naturally. And even dealing no damage to the SSD. Technical error.

Mission 1: T/D Nightmare sometimes crash into ISD Shadowfox when escorting the enemy ETR.
Mission 2: VSD Monitor is disabled for no apparent reason when the battle starts.
