The TIE Vanguard is a second iteration reconnaissance craft developed from the initial TIE Fighter design. It is easily recognized by the out swept upper section of its solar arrays. Equipped with additional antennas and sensors, the Vanguard is utilized to gather intelligence in system on enemy fleet composition. The Vanguard is not equipped with a hyperdrive, so it must be carried in system by a larger ship, but it is equipped with a modest shield system to protect the craft and intelligence it has collected. It does sacrifice one of he TIE Fighter’s two laser cannons, so protracted engagements with this craft are not recommended.
