FIREBIRD SQUADRON WSR #1 (10-Oct-28 ABY)
FROM: Colonel Stryker, Squadron Commander |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
FROM STRYKER'S DESK | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Stryker stood at the window of his office, overlooking the hangar where six X-Wings and two Y-Wings were being repainted by Challenge mechanics; eight craft were currently all that made up the newly re-formed Firebird Squadron, with over a third of his pilots being veterans of the Infiltrator Wing when it existed as a separate entity to the TIE Corps. Inter-division politics had seen Talon Jade, Horus Blackheart and TI-40026 lose their Infiltrator Wing ranks; many of whom would have been senior to the squadron's new Commander had they retained them, and Stryker couldn't help but wonder whether there would be some lingering resentment there. [Beep?] Sparky, the black and yellow R6 Astromech who had been Stryker's companion since Red Squadron, nudged him gently with a manipulator arm to attract his attention and divert him from his silent worries. Of course; there were pilot reviews to complete and requisition forms to fill out, not to mention getting the squadron working well as a team. Still, he had some time before the first training flight, so hitting the simulators and brushing up on his basics might not be amiss - he'd spent too long in a TIE Sinister, he needed to refamiliarise himself with the X-Wing's controls. Perhaps one of the missions based on Infiltrator Wing's past... Taking one last look at the #ff6600, grey and black colours now adorning the ships, Stryker smiled; the New Republic would not appreciate their enemies imitating their own Precision Air Team, and Stryker wondered whether General Syndulla would appreciate the irony after leading so many infiltration missions herself. Maybe one day he'd find out... |

SQUADRON NEWS | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Well, we're officially a Squadron now! Hooray! Big thanks to MAJ Talon Jade and LCM TI-40026 for accepting the roles of Flight Leadersto ensure we have a full command team! The Combat Operations Office has officially started accepting Star Wars Squadrons submissions and we've had a whole host of LoCs approved for the Squadron already, good work everyone! Thanks to the dedicated folks of the COO team for getting that sorted so quickly! Details can be found here. Abandoned Fleet Battles matches are ineligible for LoCs - annoying when you're winning and opponents quit, but understandable. We have a grand total of 0 Squadron Citations, which is unsurprising given some of us are returning for the first time after the database was lost. I'd like to rectify this ASAP! Finally, I am creating an online repository of old Infiltrator Wing files, many thanks to COL Pellaeon, MAJ Talon Jade, LCM TI-40026 and SA Kamjin Lap'lamiz for their contributions so far! |

SQUADRON CITATIONS | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
None right now. I'd like us to work on this, we may mostly be MP-oriented but I'd like us to honour our predecessors by at least getting the Infiltrator Wing missions on the citation board!

CLOSING COMMENTS | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
We're a small unit, but we're home. I'd like to thank my colleagues in Firebird Squadron, HA Dempsey and the Command Team for their approval getting this project started, and my fellow CMDRs and pilots for their support. It really means a lot! Now we just need to work on getting those MP ratings moving on up, and maybe a Citation or two under our belts! COL Stryker |
