Welcome to the new year pilots of Battlegroup 1!

30 ABY (better known as 2022) was quite the year for us, we claimed the win in RtF, had the two top squadrons, did well in TCIB Season 5 and hopefully had a lot of fun along the way! Our performance in the Ace of the TIE Corps annual wrap up was simply great as well, we claimed fully half the spots on the SP and PvE killboards with Wolve leading the former with 3333 missions completed and Gytheran the latter with 7591 victories. The PvP killboard was also quite something as pilots from Lambda, Gamma and Beta accounted for 8 of the 10 positions. Simply put, well done everyone as I am fully aware that A LOT more pilots took part and placed on the boards beyond the top 10, this was truly a collective effort.

2023 brings us more of the same, Imperial Storm 5 will be the first large annual competition to run and is scheduled for March 1st - 31st. As I also double hat as the Simulations Officer I am pleased to say the first draft of the rules has been completed with the help of a trusty mob of advisors and I would like to ensure they're released well ahead of the game. I'm also happy to listen to any feedback that members may want to send my way, one big thing I've taken onboard is trying to ensure that results and news are far more conspicuous, we want this in peoples faces when they land on the website (to a degree). 2023 will also be similar in that we'll continue to see our slow churn of Squadron Commanders. Captain KEBLAOMEGA stood down from Beta CMDR at the start of the year and was replaced by Commander neurotictim, so firstly congratulations Tim and secondly thank you KEBLAOMEGA for all your efforts over 2022, they were very much appreciated by all. This churn is also set to continue as General Jarek La'an has indicated that he plans to step down from Epsilon CMDR, so if you are interested in the position please reach out to me by January 25th, again either via email or Discord.

A lot of medals hit the decks during the latter half of December, combined with some MSE medals starting to come through there are a lot listed below! Congratulations all, go update your uniforms or ask our new Recon Officer and Tailor, RA/CPT TheBlackxRanger for advice! For those who missed it, the EH has a new Recon Officer in the form of our own Captain TheBlackxRanger, who now joins the league of members with dual (duel?!) profiles and will also serve as the fleets officer in charge of outreach. Congratulations!!

Lastly, don't forget to look at the competition section. Alongside the Trivia we also have the writing competition (Festive Expansion) and now Captain Witchblade's puzzle competition.

Trivia for the Hammered Season Six
Trivia for the Hammered returns with Season Six!
Each week, four questions will be released via the TIE Corps timed competition system. For each question, the quickest pilot to answer correctly receives 3 points, second quickest with the correct answer gets 2 points and all other pilots with the correct answer get 1 point.
After 8 weeks, points will be tallied for a final set of awards.

Puzzled Pilotmania
Puzzled Pilotmania is a competition that will feature 6 timed puzzles spread over 6 weeks between now and the end of February.
Each week a new round will be posted to Discord and the Battlegroup I mailing list.
Pilots will have 1 week to try the puzzle and send their screenshots to CPT Witchblade at sblake89@protonmail.com. Ensure the complete puzzle and time are in the screenshot.
Pilots can submit multiple attempts for each round as only the fastest time will be recorded.
Screenshots need to show the number of pieces from the bottom-left corner of the screen, the time shown in the middle, and the completed puzzle (basically the whole webpage). Working through the puzzle multiple times and using all the options available in the app are allowed, except one: Don't change the number of pieces from 125.

Hammer Festive Expansion
During 2021/2022 the crew of the Hammer developed a number of NPC (non-player characters) who occupy a plethora of positions aboard the ship.

This competition is about fleshing out one or more of these characters, feel free to pick any of them and work them into a fiction that takes place at the end of the TIE Corps‘ recent skirmish with the Ishtari around Tusorix. Pieces can be dramatic, funny, you name it and can be written from any perspective you feel comfortable with.

Minimum length: 1000 words
Deadline will be the end of January, after the festive season.

The Results for the latest round of Trivia for the Hammered are in. Our winner was CPT TheBlackxRanger who picks up his complimentry IS-SR, with CM Aaron Cremel recieving a IS-BR for coming in second. We have a interesting three way tie for third with GN Coranel Both, CPT KEBLAOMEGA and LCM Nova Discordia all picking up the IS-CR for the round. Well done all!
