| SQUADRON COMMANDER'S CORNER |

(Major Westric "Dav" Davalorn is in his office working through the backlog of forms that had piled up during the campaign to drive the Ishtari out of the Tusorix sector when the ship-wide alert comes through. He knocks the remaining tabac from his pipe into the waste receptacle, turns off his data terminal, and exits his office. He makes his way for the briefing room through the controlled chaos of the ship going to alert, wondering what could be going on. Entering the briefing room, he grabs a seat just as General Frown is about to begin. "We have received a distress call from an unknown transport near an abandoned weapons depot in the Charas System," Frown states. "There is very little traffic or communications coming in and out of this system, however the transport's last message stated that it was being attacked by Ishtari fighters and in the process of being boarded." The general pauses to allow this to sink in before continuing. "All combat-ready ships of Battlegroup II are to proceed to the Charas system immediately and assess the situation. Any questions?" Frown finishes, surveying the room. Hearing none, he says, "Dismissed," and turns to leave the briefing room. Dav exits the room with the other squadron commanders and heads for the hangar. Seeing the rest of Rho Squadron assembled, he heads over to bring them up to speed. He quickly summarizes General Frown's briefing and dismisses the pilots to prep their fighters. He was turning to begin prepping his own craft when Commander Cray "Zee" Xerious approaches. Cray salutes and begins, "Look, I'm still not fully recovered from my injuries. I can fly, but I don't want to put anyone else at risk. Let me go with you guys, but please don't put me in combat right now. I can take a sensor kit and provide tactical support, but I don't know if I'm up to shootouts yet. I'll go if I have to, and I normally would, but I've got a family back home. Almost dying in the last battle woke me up to that risk. Please don't take this as my flaking out, I promise to rejoin combat patrols once I'm fully recovered. But please, sir, please let me stay in the shadows on this one. I'll be better as long-range support here." Dav studies the other man's face for a moment before responding, "I'll be honest: I don't like it. We're already short handed as it is. But, I also don't want to put the rest of the squadron at risk by taking along a pilot who isn't sure of their combat capability right now. Go see Mix about modifying your fighter with an upgraded comm and sensor package. And make it quick." As Cray heads off to find Mix, Dav grabs a seat on a nearby supply crate, pulls out his datapad, and begins composing his next report.) A few quick updates while we prepare for the upcoming mission: Lieutenant Commander Tiran Marr has transferred to Theta Squadron to step into the Squadron Executive Officer role. Lieutenant Colonel Adom "fr0Zen" Wietu has replaced him as Flight Leader for Rho Flight III. Good luck to both of you in your new roles! We have picked up some new recruits since the last report. Sub-Lieutenants Jax and Tarlo Keeg have been assigned to Rho 6 and Rho 10, respectively. Both pilots have already earned a promotion to Lieutenant! Please assist me with welcoming them aboard and getting them acclimated to Rho Squadron. Lieutenant Augustus Kohark and Sub-Lieutenant Kay Cubiclee have transferred to the reserves to allow them to recuperate following the Tusorix campaign. We hope to see them return to active duty in the near future. After the grueling Tusorix Campaign, all pilots are urged to record holo messages for your friends and family back home. The full list of current competitions can be found in the Competitions Center. Holos for the Holidays: TIE Corps Edition The Imperial holiday season has arrived! Having secured victory at the Second Battle of Tusorix and driven the Ishtari back into the void, the First Recon Division will need some time to refit and recover before we are ready to resume operations. All pilots are encouraged to take advantage of this downtime to record holo messages for your friends and family. Let them know how you are doing, what you have been up to this Imperial standard year, and your hopes for the coming year. In order to keep Holonet traffic to a minimum, all holo messages must be 1000 words or less. Please send your holo messages to Westric Davalorn via Discord DM or email at davalorn@gmail.com . Happy Holidays! (Special thanks to Honsou for coming up with the original "Holos for the Holidays" and his support for running it again for the entire TIE Corps.) Before VA Marenta's time as the Warrior Commodore, she used her faithful TIE Reaper, BESSIE, during a mission in which her com circuitry was corrupted and led to cascading and repetitive damage. Being the brilliant logistician she was, she decided to appropriate her vessel from Inferno Squadron and bring it with her to the ISDII Warrior. Unfortunately, it still has the bug of a strange frequency being transmitted into her ship. The messages are simply random 3, 4, and 5 letter combinations repeated for approximately 2 standard weeks before the letter combinations change again. In an effort to help figure out what the messages mean, Marenta has tasked the Warrior to make up phrases for the letter combinations and polling the fleet to determine which is the most likely. Every 2 weeks VA Marenta will generate 3, 4, and 5 random letter combinations and create a Google Form to allow personnel onboard ISDII Warrior to fill out with a time frame of 2 weeks. After 2 weeks, the responses will be put up in a poll where the Warrior members will vote on the responses provided. The members voting will NOT be able to see which phrase was submitted by which member. After a 2 week voting period, to keep the submissions along the same time period as the voting, VA Marenta will announce the winners. Each season will have 6 full rounds of entries/voting/results. VAAAS Vacations At Alderaan Are Stupid After a particularly bad batch of Chalquilla was distributed by Inferno Squadron, medical was inundated with severely hungover and somewhat illiterate members of the fleet. The tanks had been infected with a spore that ate sugar and spit out alcohol, like yeast. But, this spore also had a side effect, it secreted a neuro inhibitor that ate away people’s knowledge. To help “stimulate” some learning, Inferno, along with the medical crew, have started sending out word puzzles to help the members of the fleet regain some of their lost knowledge. At the beginning of every month, VA Marenta will generate a word search and post the link along with announcing the previous month’s entrants. Each month, the puzzle will be related to something specific like planets, people, craft, manufacturers, wars, a movie/book/series, etc. Each puzzle will be 50 words and the site will keep track of all submissions. This competition will utilize the time test on the website in lieu of using the first-entrant on the host site. TIE Corps in Battle Season Five Rounds for Season Five are being initiated mid-month to avoid the usual competition cycle. The fourth round ends on December 15th. Operation Christmas Seal In an effort to assist all the new players in Squadrons and get the adjusted to the game, I am calling on all pilots of the TIE Corps to get assists in anyway possible (Support ship with beacons is a great option!). Email a copy of your screenshots to vapinvanman@gmail.com . For the assits to count for the competition, you must have won the match. The pilot with the most assists will win (in case of a tie, most kills will be used). Good luck pilots, and help show these new folks there is a group to help them grow in their Squadrons journey! Conundrums in Hyperspace: A Logic Puzzle Series To help you keep your wit sharp and your skill in hyperspace navigation up to snuff as an elite pilot of the TC, a series of devious logic puzzles will be provided to you, one each month, for a total of four months. These puzzles will require logic, deduction, creativity, and careful observation. One puzzle will be posted at the start of each month, with varying themes of (Star Wars) space travel. Some puzzles will require drawing - either electronically, or printing and using a pencil - in order to complete with the least difficulty. However, each puzzle will solve to either a single word or series of words that can then be entered on the submission site. While the puzzles will not be easy, the rewards will be great! The fastest correct solver each month will earn 4 points and an IS-GR; the second place 3 points and an IS-SR; the third place 2 points and an IS-BR; and all other correct solvers 1 point each. At the end of all four months, the top scorer will earn an IS-PR, provided they submitted attempts for all four puzzles. If there is a tie by points, then the IS-PR will go to the one with the lowest overall solving time for all four months. 2nd and 3rd place overall will receive an IS-GR and IS-SR respectively. XWA time trials!! The TIE Corps is looking for pilots to play the role of “Red Team” in upcoming war games. To demonstrate marksmanship and flying prowess, pilots will fly an A-Wing to complete the “Crazy Eight” course in the X-Wing Alliance “Pilot Proving Grounds.” Pilots will:

BEFORE THE END OF THE COMPETITION, pilots will submit a screen grab (png) that includes their name and top time, and name the file using the convention of “MMSS PIN RANK NAME” (see example, “02 Ready to launch A-W Crazy Eight.png”) to facilitate scoring.
