RHO SQUADRON REPORT #7

REPORTING OFFICER: Captain Westric Davalorn, Squadron Commander
DATE SUBMITTED: 07.18.2022

SQUADRON COMMANDER'S CORNER

(Captain Westric "Dav" Davalorn sits behind the desk in his office scanning over his data terminal.  He removes the tabac pipe from his mouth and exhales a cloud of smoke, which hangs in the air around his head.  He waves his other hand to clear the air and continues reading the information on the monitor.

"Due to Rho Squadron's adequate performance in Squadron (Re)Mobilization IV..." At this, Dav sighs and rolls his eyes before continuing, "General Frown has made the following fighter craft available for requisition: TIE/ad Avengers, TIE/d Defenders, TIE/ph Phantoms, TIE Raptors, Missile Boats, and Scimitar Assault Bombers."

Dav leans back in his chair and exhales another cloud of tabac smoke, deep in thought.  There are plenty of viable options, but which would be the best fit for Rho?  Checking the chrono on his desk, he closes out the requisition list and opens up the Holonet messenger to begin composing his next report.)

Pilots of Rho Squadron,

Squadron (Re)Mobilization IV has come to an end.  As a result of your hard work and dedication, we successfully completed 75% of the assigned tasks and have been granted access to several new craft options for outfitting our flights.  Additional details will follow.

On the topic of flights, after conducting the trial run of 16 pilot squadrons on the Warrior, it has been determined that the squadrons of Wing II will revert back to 12 pilots, and new squadrons will be reactivated.

In other news, Fleet Admiral Turtle Jerrar has announced that the Imperial University virtual classrooms have been reopened after a systems upgrade.  For all of our current Lieutenants: if you have not already done so, be sure to review the TIE Corps CORE Exam course materials.  This course is mandatory if you wish to advance in rank.

Captain Jarion Renalds has transferred to the reserves.  We hope that he will return to active duty soon.

That's all the news I have for now.

For peace and order throughout the galaxy!  For the Empire!

SQUADRON NEWS
  • Squadron (Re)Mobilization 4 is over and Rho Squadron completed 6 of the 8 tasks! We cut it close, but I'm extremely proud of how everyone came together to achieve as much as we did. Be on the lookout for additional information on what upgrades we've earned.
  • All Warrior squadrons will be reverting back to 12 pilots.  Let me know if you have any questions about this process.
  • The IU migration to the new website has been completed and members are able to resume courses.  REMINDER: If you are currently a LT, you must pass the TCCORE exam in order to advance in rank.  More information can be found here.

COMPETITIONS

Signal Scramble Infection

Before VA Marenta's time as the Warrior Commodore, she used her faithful TIE Reaper, BESSIE, during a mission in which her com circuitry was corrupted and led to cascading and repetitive damage. Being the brilliant logistician she was, she decided to appropriate her vessel from Inferno Squadron and bring it with her to the ISDII Warrior. Unfortunately, it still has the bug of a strange frequency being transmitted into her ship. The messages are simply random 3, 4, and 5 letter combinations repeated for approximately 2 standard weeks before the letter combinations change again. In an effort to help figure out what the messages mean, Marenta has tasked the Warrior to make up phrases for the letter combinations and polling the fleet to determine which is the most likely. Every 2 weeks VA Marenta will generate 3, 4, and 5 random letter combinations and create a Google Form to allow personnel onboard ISDII Warrior to fill out with a time frame of 2 weeks. After 2 weeks, the responses will be put up in a poll where the Warrior members will vote on the responses provided. The members voting will NOT be able to see which phrase was submitted by which member. After a 2 week voting period, to keep the submissions along the same time period as the voting, VA Marenta will announce the winners. Each season will have 6 full rounds of entries/voting/results. Example: VTK Vocal Tauntauns? Kill! FTWN Free The Wookies Now! VAAAS Vacations At Alderaan Are Stupid

Raven Squadron Patch Competition

Raven Squadron needs a patch! Be creative, go nuts, but remember it has to fit on the sleeve of a uniform! Submissions should be sent to GN Stryker via email or Discord DM, who will be the judge for the competition and select the top three himself.

The Great Bounty Hunting Race

This is a flying/gaming competition. You are a bounty hunter - skilled in piloting, blasters, and lightsaber combat - whatever is needed to get the job done. For one month, you will be racing with other bounty hunters to see who can collect the most bounties.

Throughout the month, I will intermittently post a bounty and location, and participants have to track down the bounty, defeat/capture them in whatever location/game, and send a screenshot or video to me showing that they did it. This will span several games. For example, if I post "Jem Blessage - Nadiri Dockyards" pilots would need to submit a screenshot of them shooting down the Squadrons AI pilot Jem Blessage on the appropriate level. Or if I post "Boba Fett - Coruscant" then participants could submit a picture of them having beaten the Boba Fett boss in Dark Forces, with their EH name held up in front of the screen, as a possible example.

The bounty postings will occur at variable hours of the day to minimize bias for one particular time zone over another.

Points will be awarded by completeness of the screenshot/photo/video (ie proving that they themselves eliminated the appropriate target at the appropriate location) and by quickest time to submission. Top submission for each bounty will earn 3 points, second submission 2 points, and everyone else submitting a victory will earn 1 point.

The top three contestants at the end of the month win IS-GW, IS-SW or IS-BW respectively.

Squadrons Feats of Strength I

There are EIGHT feats of strength with increasing difficulty. Settings: Squadrons, Fly Solo FB vs AI (with AI pilots ON) Duration: 30 mins Map: Yavin

Level 1: Play as Imperial and destroy the Enemy Calamari Cruiser on Easy Level 2: Play as New Republic and destroy the Enemy ISD on Easy Level 3: Play as Imperial and destroy the Enemy Calamari Cruiser on Medium Level 4: Play as New Republic and destroy the Enemy ISD on Medium Level 5: Play as Imperial and destroy the Enemy Calamari Cruiser on Medium without reinforced hull Level 6: Play as New Republic and destroy the Enemy ISD on Medium without reinforced hull Level 7: Play as Imperial and destroy the Enemy Calamari Cruiser on Medium Ironman (No deaths) Level 8: Play as New Republic and destroy the Enemy ISD on Medium Ironman (No deaths)

In case of a tie, two players reaching the same level, their position will be determined by the time they took to complete their last level. Example: managed to reach level 3 but never completed it, your best time for level 2 will be used to determine any ties with other players.

Each attempt will need to be either video-recorded (streamed) or spectated by a judge. Judges' names to be announced.

The Challenge with Words

After a particularly bad batch of Chalquilla was distributed by Inferno Squadron, medical was inundated with severely hungover and somewhat illiterate members of the fleet. The tanks had been infected with a spore that ate sugar and spit out alcohol, like yeast. But, this spore also had a side effect, it secreted a neuro inhibitor that ate away people’s knowledge. To help “stimulate” some learning, Inferno, along with the medical crew, have started sending out word puzzles to help the members of the fleet regain some of their lost knowledge.

At the beginning of every month, VA Marenta will generate a word search and post the link along with announcing the previous month’s entrants. Each month, the puzzle will be related to something specific like planets, people, craft, manufacturers, wars, a movie/book/series, etc. Each puzzle will be 50 words and the site will keep track of all submissions.

This competition will utilize the time test on the website in lieu of using the first-entrant on the host site.

The full list of current competitions can be found here in the Competitions Center.
