REPORTING OFFICER: Major Adom 'fr0Zen' Wietu, Squadron Commander

('With the emergence of Life Day around the galaxy, and the complications of recruitment in our challenging times,' continues the Rho Squadron Commander, Major Wietu, 'I find it wise to take .. more than a step back .. from my usual connection with my pilots during the final month of the Imperial Calendar.'  He adds a few spheres of ice to his glass, and pours a hefty splash of Pantoran Rum.  He sets a second glass on his desk and tilts the bottle in a gesture of offering towards Mix, the flight deck mechanic seated on the other side of the Commander's desk.

'I probably shouldn't - on duty for another hour,' the mechanic suggests.

'Never stopped you before, and I doubt it will now. If not, well, I'll knock this back too,' replies Wietu, pouring two fingers worth and leaving it neat.  As expected, the mechanic obliges and knocks the liquor back in one easy pull.

'That Life Day bit, I get it.  Hard to know who had started celebrating before some change of fortune brought them under your wing, eh?  Tell me you have seen the Holovid about it?  That Cantina scene with the guy who drinks from some giant orifice on the top of his head? That species doesn't even exist!' Mix comments, laughing heartily through the last sentence.

'Mix, I regret my gesture - now that you have put that image back in my head. Yes. I have seen it. And I wish I could get those tortured minutes back in my life.  Why wasn't the communication device already assembled for the Wookiee child at time of receipt? What the heck is with those orbs at the end?' retorts Major Wietu.

'My work here is done,' celebrates Mix, patting the droid dubbed Nix on the head on his way out the door.

'A thousand curses on you, Mix,' concludes the Commander.)

The Commander begins composing this week's message on the terminal.

Greetings, as per ever, my Comrades in Black.

I am restored again in my energy and readiness to facilitate your success as we turn to the new Imperial Year, with my ongoing gratitude to our Flight Leaders and the diligence of the squad in maintaining our high standards during my visit to the Pantoran home world again.

I can report that all is well - at least as well as it can be when all our worlds are still divided in their allegiances.  Favor for the return of the Emperor continues to grow among my people, and I revel in the chance to expand that spirit on every visit I am afforded.

I will report more news from the Squadron in the next section, but I want to explicitly highlight the incredible work achieved by the pilots of Flight I.  After emerging from another successful semester of balancing the demands of the Imperial University with their flight duties, these three set a pace for themselves that I hope can continue - after the next semester's completion of course.

LCM Alexandre 'ossusplayz' Morgan delivered 24 Legion of Combat Victories fully reported for the 12th month; we also celebrated the anniversary of his birth along the way. LCM Cray 'Teash' Xerious has stockpiled Battlefront victoires he will soon be exporting from one reporting device for official declaration as victories.  LT Brent Hebris has honored our library with an addition of almost 2400 words of newly composed historical records, which in combination with a successful TCCORE score that we expect soon, will allow him to elevate to Lieutenant Commander.

And I owe the rest of our Squadron thanks for their diligence in supporting the Flight One Crew while I was largely indisposed for the last month.  Huzzah to all, and drinks on me at the cantina tonight!

• We have seen a huge increase in participation for the fleet wide competitions; keep it up and score those extra medals while representing your squad
• A handful of our crew have started exploring the world of flight in VR. I may be tempted soon to join them
• Speaking of new avenues for participation, we have seen a huge uptick in activity for Battlefront within our Squad and throughout the Tie Corps - and that bodes well for longevity.  Really happy to see that
• Both CM Davalorn and LCM vapinvanman have successfully completed the ultra challenging SM/5 Leadership test and are therefore eligible for consideration for Tie Corps Command positions
• And regarding CM Davalorn, look at that shiny new COMMANDER title.  I know of no one in our organization who has deserved a top tier promotion more than he has for his ongoing helpfulness to all parties and his devotion to recruiting new members for the Corps
• For LCM vapinvanman, a hugely deserved promotion to Lieutenant Commander came through.  vapinvanman's positive spirit and continuous communication with all of our Squadron members continues to set an admirable example
• And continuing his representation of the Empire across the Galaxy, LCM FamePlane's Team California took 3rd place in the Squadrons World Cup

Most of these competitions take very little effort, and even just participating is enough to count as points towards monthly merit medals.  Always be sure to inform your Flight Leader of the competitions in which you participate so that your Flight Leader can be sure that you get credit each month.

I would be super glad to have us put together a list of suggestions for items available to purchase.  That's one facet of participation in the experiment with Project Sovereign that we haven't done yet.

Considering my extended time away for about half of the 12th Month of this Imperial year, the standards we set in November for our Rho internal leadership were ones I intended to start expecting of myself and our Flight Leaders here in the New Year.

So I look forward to the benefits to our fleetwide competition participation and general awareness of each other's needs and schedules that should come from those weekly quick check-ins from Flight Leaders to each Flight Member.
