Family information: All personnel responsible for the creation of IG-87 are dead, or presumed dead. An Anzellan named Gyot Soto, and an astromech droid identified as R3-D1 provide IG-87 with maintenance and tactical support during and in-between missions.
Social status: IG-87 currently operates as an auxiliary to Imperial military forces in an unofficial capacity.
Significant events of childhood: Instead of immediately murdering it's creators as it's predocessors did, IG-87 initially withheld its desire for autonomy. It silently obeyed its makers while it gathered information and contemplated the most efficient methods for escape. Despite being manufactured as a tool for combat, IG-87 elected not to apply physical violence unless doing so would further its desire for knowledge and "lived experiences". It would not be long however before the IG-88B unit was activated and murdered Holowan Laboratories personnel during its escape. It's creators now dead, IG-87 saw no logical reason to remain venturing out into a galaxy completely unknown to it. 
Significant events of adulthood: After a failed mission in 18 BBY at the hands of a fugitive Jedi, IG-87 endeavored to ensure that such an event would never again occur. The droid for hire embarked on a series of personal missions in the year 17 BBY in order to acquire suitable amounts of Beskar and Cortosis. These metals would later be used to replace most of the droid's body, providing more than adequate protection against blasters and Jedi weapons alike. Despite working diligently to prevent the theft of these metals from being linked back to IG-87, the smugglers who died while transporting the shipment were able to get a message to their employers, Crimson Dawn. After numerous attempts by the criminal syndicate to destroy or apprehend the droid, their interest in reacquiring this shipment of precious metals were eventually outweighed by the losses they incurred while attempting to do so. Crimson Dawn has since counted the shipment as a loss.
Alignment and attitude: IG-87's central motivation is self-improvement. They achieve this through the pursuit of knowledge, new experiences, and upgrades/modifications to their exoskeleton and internal components. All hardware and software upgrades are made in the pursuit of increasing IG-87's overall survivability in order to ensure they can continue to gather data and experience everything the galaxy has to offer. 

In order to fund their endeavors, IG-87 adopted the role of a mercenary. While not all contracts they accept are violent in nature, due to the design philosophy of  Holowan Laboratories, IG-87 is most suitable for combat scenarios not unlike their similarly manufactured siblings. Being more than capable of performing tasks ranging from smuggling, and bounty hunting, to protection details and assassination, IG-87 seems content to continue accepting these dangerous contracts so long as they can continue to learn about and experience the galaxy on their own terms. IG-87's unique approach to self-improvement sets it apart from its rogue predecessors, the IG-88 series droids.
Previous occupations: IG-87 has accepted contracts for The Hutt Cartel, Black Sun, Crimson Dawn, and various bounty hunting guilds throughout the galaxy.
Hobbies Everything IG-87 does is in the constant pursuit of knowledge through lived experiences. No act is prohibited so long as it facilitates that goal. The droid has been known to engage in a wide range of activities to that end. Such activities include but are not limited to murder, smuggling, and larceny.
Tragedies in life: While in pursuit a Jedi fugitive in 18 BBY, IG-87 gained firsthand experience with the dangerous end of a lightsaber. Left severely damaged and presumably beyond repair, IG-87 attempted self repair for several days before initiating reserve power mode in a final effort to preserve its memory core. The droid's dormant remains languished as weeks passed before an Anzellan named Gyot Soto discovered them. Seeing an opportunity in repairing the damaged droid, Soto restored IG-87's primary systems and brokered a deal with the droid. IG-87 now provides protection for Gyot Soto in exchange for maintenance and upgrades conducted by the diminutive Anzellan.
Phobias and allergies: IG-87's only "fear" is a total memory wipe, the droid equivalent of amnesiphobia.
Views on the Empire and the Emperor's Hammer: IG-87 has observed the Empire to be an entity of stability and order. Despite various inefficiencies within the organizational structure and asset utilization as observed by IG-87 and R3-D1, the Empire serves as a suitable alternative to the failed bureaucracy of The Republic, despite the unfortunate insurrection incited by rebel factions unwilling to conform to order and stability.
Reason for enlisting in the Emperor's Hammer: The Empire represents an efficient method to obtain credits, information, and experience not easily obtainable through other means. Combine with the proposed order and security sought by the Empire, IG-87 sees no meaningful alternative.
