Gunboat is one of my favourite starfighters, and any battle involving them, immediately has my attention. This battle was solidly made, with a high level of technical skill and a decent plotline, however it fails to deliver since it has GUNs always under-powered when it comes to the loadout screen, like if the EH could not afford Rockets or Advanced Torps, and what's worse, the inventories are half-loaded most of the time. The author does not help the player by buffing up the shields of capital ships to 200%, so there is going to be a lot of laser time in order to sink most caps. Especially in last mission, where you have to destroy a rebel fleet of a CRS, 2 CRVs and a FRG, with barely 12 standard torps. This was tedious, and ruined this otherwise excellent battle.

Another well made battle. MB always produces a straight forward professional battle. 1 small detail, either mission 3 or 4 a craft that is involved with the SCO transaction was destroyed. The mission was not automatically failed and just went on. I flew it 2nd time on easy and the transaction went smoothly. 4.5

Well put together set of missions. You'll need to pick your targets very carefully.
2009-09-03
Mission 1: INT G'Neeznow only attacks Genkoan starships when its first set of waypoints is complete.
Mission 2: Both sides' starships only attack each other when their first set of waypoints are complete.
Mission 3: The briefing indicates Pyr squadron are flying cover, but they aren't launched till all of TRN Zulu are space dust. Both sides' starships only attack each other when their first set of waypoints are complete.
Mission 4: With the exception of the ISDII Kawolski, all TC starships do not attack enemy starships until their second or sometimes even third order. Apart from the CRS Peace Maker, the NR starships also seem to ignore the TC starships.
Throughout: The battle could use far less restrictive targeting orders for starships (obviously excluding craft that need to be disabled).

It is part of a series of battles about varied TC units and their squadron objectives. Additionally it was made according to storyline instructions from the TAC for his Missions Combat Competition. Story Line ---------- 1. Zlatan Squadron, 138th TIE Corps Squadron, of Wing XXI is based upon the ISDII Kawolski and its objective is Interdiction. Interdiction Squadrons eliminate a target's capability to flee, in any manner possible, up to and including destruction of the target.(The only good rebel is a dead one!). It might also be necessary to inspect an unknown (but suspect) flight group to determine which, if any, targets should be prepped for capture/disablement (ALWAYS preferable to destruction). In this mission you will be doing exactly that; together with the Interdictor G'Neeznow you'll be conducting a routine customs check along the Aurora Prime border. Check passing freighters for illegal or black market goods and disable those that are smuggling goods. Because Aurora Prime is the heartland of the Emperor's Hammer, you do not have to expect a lot of trouble - most passers by will be aligned to our fleet. 2. About everything that could go wrong went wrong on that last mission; besides the unexpected disaster with the tourist cruise liner which cost 1000s of lives, we also got our Interdictor shut down and the Science Officer was kidnapped from in front of our eyes. These events will make the Corps look in on the procedure of these random customs checks to avoid such in the future for sure. Meanwhile we have the problem of the SCO being kidnapped by what seemed to be Genkoans and us having to go after them immediately as not to loose the track of their hyperspace vectors. The FRG Venom has been able to make very precise observations on these hyperspace vectors of the enemy force and we best use these to our advantage and hope we can rescue the SCO before the Security Officer closes down the whole operation on account of us messing up completely.... 3. Apparently we followed the wrong part of the force that kidnapped our Science Officer. This did however clear up a lot of matters that were still pretty vague: Apparently the Genkoans were hired by the New Republic to kidnap the SCO - and what we witnessed just now was the transfer of payment... which got quite expensive for all parties. The G'Neeznow and Venom were able to pinpoint the routes of the escaping New Republic craft very clearly, so currently we're going after them as we hope they will take us to where they are keeping the Science Officer captive. With what we found at the last meeting point we could determine however what this is all about: Pyr Squadron had an unexpected run in with these same NR forces last week in which these rebels were trying to steal large amounts of substances like printing ink, copper wire, fertilizer and paper. The same materials the Genkoans were delivering just now... 4. We found the Science Officer's rusty old freighter back, but it didn't contain the man we were trying to save anymore... Which makes sense as the Emperor's Hammer just received the demands from the kidnappers: They will return the Science Officer if we return to them, unharmed, the Scientists Pyr captured last week. As you can imagine, our Command Staff is very displeased and the Security Officer has started an investigation into our actions.... But our luck hasn't run out yet: By chance we were exactly in the middle of the transmission beam that sent the demands, and we can be at the location it originated from in mere minutes. This will most likely be the last shot we get at liberating the SCO and saving our own necks in the process. NOTE ------------------- You need XvT (or at least all the ships involved there) AND the Luggage Patch. To fly as a team all players need the same version, make sure you all have the update by lucasarts installed. Other Information ----------------- This is the First release of a quickly made battle.
