Based on Rogue Squadron by Michael A. Stackpole - what if Ysanne Isard had convinced the Emperor’s Hammer to battle against the Rebels rather than trying to do it herself?

I just finished Anti-Rogue Squadron: Battle for Borleias...that was a lot of fun. The Borleias defense mission was cool. I especially liked watching the capital ships duke it out at the end. I also really liked how reinforcements were utilized. It helped make the battles feel larger.

Did it for TCIB 8, like all missions by Jagged, high quality. Relatively simple missions, played on Easy.

Very fun set of missions. Several are a real romp with a lot of great dogfighting. Fun times.

It's interesting to see the other side of a classic campaign from the popular EU X-Wing novels, but the missions could use a bit of polish; for example, why does no one actually capture the Pulsar Skate in the first mission? Rogue Null is invincible; why not just make it destructible and doing so fails the mission (e.g., "you were ordered not to do that!")? In later missions, shuttles continue to be invincible for no obvious reason, especially the case in the final mission. The reinforcements in the last battle, while it does make for a huge and climactic final mission, reduces the mission's complexity to being an absolute push-over. I'm sure the experts can do it without the reinforcements but would have been nice to find a middle-ground, where the reinforcements help, but don't absolutely overwhelm.
While the voice files are a nice touch, and I'd much rather have them than not, would definitely prefer human voices to AI-generated lines.

The idea of taking a classic story (Rogue Squadron series) and remixing it as a what-if (using the EH as the catalyst), combined with use of a modern squadron (Typhoon) and a WAV pack to punch up the immersion, just results in such a terrific experience. A wonderful addition to the compendium!

At first I wasn't going to post reviews of my own battles, but as Frodo would have said PAR!
I think this is a great battle and well balanced on Easy and Medium, with it being a tad on the hard side on Hard. The intent of the battle is for you to use the reinforcements as some of the best radio lines are tied to them, but to each their own.
Have fun.

Honestly this is a good first impression of what the unit can build for a custom mission. I have really gotten invested in this story against Rogue Squadron, feeling like I was their counterpart. This mission pack never stops, pitting you against the odds as you fly against large formations of X, Y, A, and B wings all together. My only criticism is the enormous difficulty on hard mode, but it is a matter of just getting used to the whole issue. I personally am looking forward to do more of these mission packs as soon as I'm able to.

Fun, well-balanced battle. I played it on Medium and it seemed very fair. No bugs or issues whatsoever for me. All around solid one!

Great battle. Fantastic first attempt at mission creation.
Well built and fun. Use of custom emails, crests and wavs is a great addition that really adds to the mission.
My own special appearance in the emails and radio messages was a nice bonus.

Introduction
-------------
The Expanded Universe has held a special place in many of our hearts and minds, me especially. One of my favorite
book series was the X-Wing Series by Michael A Stackpole and Aaron Allston. It was these stories that motivated me
to pick up X-Wing Alliance back in the early 2000's. Here I am setting out to make at least a series of 4 battles
retelling the battles and story of the initial four books of the X-Wing series.
This battle is based upon the story laid out in the book X-Wing: Rogue Squadron by Michael A Stackpole. Here is a
bit of the story encase you have not read the book.
Wedge Antilles, veteran of both Death Star attacks, hero of the Rebellion, has set out to reform Rogue Squadron
with the aid of fellow Death Star II veteran Tycho Celchu. The group of pilots he has assembled contains Gavin
Darklighter and Corran Horn. Who will soon go on to be legends of their own in the Expanded Universe.
But what if Ysanne Isard had convinced the Emperor’s Hammer to battle against the Rebels rather than trying to do
it herself?
