I found the story to be tremendous and the combat fun and challenging at times. I really should only give it a 4 because of the bad goal choices in M3 (and M2) but the plot won me over.

Call me biased in favor of a former pilot, but I think it's a tremendous battle, start to finish. The plot is solid, the combat is well balanced, and you will not find finer XvT/BoP briefings elsewhere in the compendium
It does have two issues, one of which absolutely isn't its fault. First, the TIE Praetoran patch for BoP appears to be busted at present (likely somehow got overwritten by its XvT counterpart). Until this gets fixed, there's an easy way to get around it - simply replace TIEPRAE.INT with another INT cockpit file in the same folder (%Install Dir%\STAR WARS X-Wing vs TIE Fighter\BalanceOfPower\CP640) - I recommend copying tieadv.int and renaming it TIEPRAE.INT to get things moving. DO NOT SKIP THE PATCH AND FLY THIS BATTLE USING A PES! You're going to miss out on a lot of awesomeness of this battle if you do!
The other is that it does have an issue with M2 and M3 when flying on Easy where the Withdraw goal doesn't work. That's annoying and I do dock it a point for it - you'll need to fly those on Medium. You'll be fine.
I get there's issues here, but don't let them stop you from flying a terrific battle! It's worth it!

I'm guessing this battle worked better back when all the positive reviews were written. It's horribly buggy for me. The Praetor doesn't work and the PES are horribly ineffective when you really need the intended ship. In two missions the Orthanc withdrawing, which is listed as an objective, fails the mission. In another, the crafts that need to hyper out aren't enough to satisfy the objective so it never ends. It seems to work correctly on some missions in certain difficulties, but not other missions on the same difficulty so I kept having to swap to see which one worked. Very annoying.

Thius was a fun six missions, with a compelling storyline and in most missions, a choice of craft to fly. Unfortunately the parts where you are with Praetorian are lacklustre due to the Praetor patch not functioning, meaning you have to let BoP assign you to a PES to finish - a real shame that prevents a 5/5.

Outstanding battle. The animated briefings are by far the best I've been able to see in BoP. Additionally, the plotline is remarkable and impeccably well-written. Then, the missions. Flying the TIE Praetor is perhaps one of the best experiences for the regular TIE Corps pilot like any of us. We are not used to such fine and perfectly crafted space fighters. It even excels my all-time favourite, the TIE Defender. The red cockpit was nothing but appealing to the sinister vampiresque style of this übermonster of a fighter. Besides the superlative flying experience, the missions are very challenging, yet completable and solid. You will face intense dogfights, capital ship bombing while in an immersive and elegantly curated atmosphere. The in-flight messages, the pre-briefings. Everything was perfect in this one. A golden classic by my book

I think that this was a really great battle. It has alot more to it than solely flying; it has drama, history, as well as intrigue and the promise of more to come later on. Also, the TIE Preator was a joy to fly... even tho the entire screen is RED :P It is fast tho... :D

It’s very hard to give a dire report when someone has worked so hard. The flying element of the battle wasn’t to the designer’s normal very high standards. Missions 3,4, and 5 just seemed to combine together and I found after a while I was wondering if I was re-flying a mission that I’d just completed. The only saving grace of this battle was the rather good storyline.

A great FCHG battle by Kate with a decent plot and features the IW Black squadron, Praetorian, and the DB & rDB:p.

In Mission 1 and Mission 2, there are 4 Praetorian Assault Frigates in both missions, and there are massive glitches with what I am assuming are the waypoints because all 4 of the Frigates just dance around each other. Could not go further in the mission because the Praetorian TIE Fighter was making the resolution on my computer freeze in a black screen, and will not let me shut the program off in any way and had to restart my computer twice.
Defintely do not recommend this mission.

Mission 2 Tie Praetors prioritize destroying rebel craft despite the fact that there are many more other enemy craft nearby. Mission 5 and 6 the starfighter destroyed counter does not track properly and can go over 100%.

Mission 3: INT Orthanc withdrawing prompts mission failure, despite it being a mission objective.
