Battle Reviews

In terms of story and plot this is one of the best battles in the compendium and probably the best XWA battle out there. The combat however is another story, plagued by bugs (ATR's taking 30 minutes to trigger a nav buoy .1 KM's away from them, Escort shuttles destroying entire stations) and balance issues. On a higher difficulty the trithian interceptor is quite overpowered, and the last mission where you are not given a tractor beam to deal with it is particularly painful, as was waiting for 6 ATR's to dock with a shipyard one at a time while being fired on by capital ships that you cannot suppress because you get half a load of warheads.

This is an epic story. The briefings and story text are great. The missions have variety and have a good cohesive flow to them.

An entertaining end to the series, but not without faults that prevent it getting a five; first, the switching between Defender, Avenger and Unshielded Interceptor got old two battles ago. Second, there were consistency issues when it came to mission difficulty. Still, glad I finished the story!

This was an AMAZING battle, and as said many times before, a fitting end to the Hammer to Anvil series. I found it to be quite the challenge, but it was an all around good one. I very much so enjoyed flying this battle.

Outstandingly constructed battle. Tremendous fun to fly. Even though it's very long you're very rarely short of action, a fantastic piece of work. This is art.

Difficult, but excellent battle. A fitting end to the "Hammer To Anvil" series.

An excellent end to the "Hammer to Anvil" series, very enjoyable to fly. Be warned though, it can be very difficult in places.

A nice XWA battle; however, be warned mission seven is quite rough on us pilots.

Great ending to a superb saga. A must fly. Loses a point cause at times (especially the final mission) its incredibly difficult.

In mission 3 escort shuttle larin 2 destroys itself, the platform, the other escort shuttle in group larin, shuttle group last chance and tug group suicide due to the scraping bug. The platform does not get the chance to self-destruct as a result.

In the end of mission 3, while flying an unshielded T/I you are supposed to get to the hangar of VSD Mandible, and the game kicks you out back to space and crashes.

Also, no Readme pops up for this battle when you load it in EHBL.

	Plotline:
Tides continue to rage back and forth in the Vepaal War, with the destruction of the Vepaal Citadel and the rescue of High Admiral Astatine and the many other officers and trainees. However, the Vepaal continue to gather their forces to assault Aurora Prime in their plan to destroy the "Unclean". You, as Major John Tert, commander of Alpha squadron aboard the Victory-II Star Destroyer Battleaxe, will help lead an invasion of Vepaal itself in an effort to destroy the enemy from its heart. Along with the forces under Admiral Jarem "Anvil" Ptosky and Admiral Verren, you will be the tip of the Emperor's Hammer's sword...
(See Hammer to Anvil: The Final Sacrifice.txt for complete prologue)

PLEASE NOTE: The difficulty levels in this battle are fully used. If you fly the battle on Hard, it will be extremely HARD. Medium should be completable by most, and Easy by all, but there is a very significant difference in difficulty from Medium to Hard, especially in the final mission. Not all pilots will be capable of finishing this battle on the HARD difficulty level.

It is highly advised that you read the entirety of the post-mission dialogues, as they are used to further the storyline. The commander briefings have also been fully utilized to provide more information and develop the story. In addition, be sure to check the personal emails at the start of every mission as there will be additional information contained within them.

The author suggests that, if possible, the last four missions should be flown in one sitting to provide the greatest enjoyment.

THANKS go to former SCO Den Darkhill, as well as current SCO Ender mBind, for their great assistance and the creation of the Trithan Interceptor, which has helped to bring my dream of this battle to life.
