RHO WEEKLY SQUADRON REPORT #58

REPORTING OFFICER: Commander Adom “fr0Zen” Wietu, Squadron Commander
DATE SUBMITTED: 07.05.2021

SQUADRON COMMANDER'S CORNER

(A communication from the Commodore. Our first battle in the war games will commence any moment now. And the advice is to prepare in a new simulator - one called Star Conflict.  Seems a bit strange as I initially investigage.  The ships, the environment, the combat - they all seem from another galaxy, truly like nothing we have encountered before across our galaxy so what is the source?  I guess I don't have to think too hard about it, the Commodore was very clear that contributions in this Star Conflict simulator will be very efficient towards our victory.  So, what do I tell the squadron?)

He begins composing this week's message on the terminal.

We are all very pleased - with and for each other - at the accumulating merits from our victories this most recent week in simulations, combat maneuvers, and direct combat against the rebel scum.

It seems that the latest fleet movements were aimed at establishing a perimeter - so that within this perimeter we could securely focus on the War Games mentioned last week - the Imperial Storm III competition.  We have arrived at our ordered destination now and the reports are in from the first engagement.

While the Hammer and the Challenge lept into combat and achieved significant mutual destruction, the Warrior wisely bided time to await their weakened state and attack once their defenses were softened.  From the intelligence reports, we also learned that pilots from both ISDII ships focused vast resources into the Star Conflict simulator that I mentioned last week.  The outcome was a pattern of incredible effectiveness in the scoring system used for these war games.

Therefore, I have invested time in exploring the Star Conflict simulator to help our squadron be ready to sprint ahead with our own contributions once our first battle of the war games is engaged.

Here are the key points to keep in mind when preparing for the assault:

  • Star Conflict requires precisely ZERO imperial credits (or other currency) to acquire and install
  • The system requires minimal space for installation on your simulator terminals.  8.5 gb of data should be available for most pilots
  • The experience available in the simulator is much broader than the use we need for the scoring system.  We need only fly missions against computer generated targets to score points
  • These missions against computer generated targets can be completed in 5-10 minutes, sometimes less
  • The opponents are surprisingly easy to destroy; proving the might of the Empire and the levels of preparation we have achieved together
  • Flying in groups together will result in the most efficient scoring.  Each successful mission flown will count one time for each pilot flying together - so if four pilots are flying together, the mission will count four times

With all that said, I do admit that this Pantoran is personally quite confused by the big picture here.  But I am not one to question orders, so I will be endeavoring all week long to assist the squadron in trying out the simulator.  Please note that I am not ordered to enforce this activity - your preferred methods for weekly engagement in flight time are still at your disposal and in the manner of your choosing.  There's even space in this competition for our pilots who prefer the original simulators such as TF, XVT, and XWA.

If every pilot delivers in the manner that is most pleasing to them, we will be successful.  Remember that this competition at its core is about uplifting morale fleet wide while at the same time honing our skills.

Until a new Emperor is seated and the Rebellion is forever crushed!

SQUADRON NEWS
  • For our SWS pilots, we have settled on the 'Reinforced' flight suit and the 'Ghastly Remnant' paint job for ships in order to have a sharp, coordinated look for our victory poses.  And speaking of the victory pose itself, we're trying out the 'Flex' pose fleet wide to show our unity among different squadrons.
  • Trivia Grand Tour: Season Six is still running, with about three weeks left to join in.
  • Riddles of the Jawa competition continues with details here.
  • We expect our first battle of Imperial Storm III to commence 07.06.2021 or perhaps 07.07.2021.
  • Our increase in activity has been a joyful thing and measurably fantastic. The majority of our roster earned a medal for the month of June and I couldn't be more proud!

So What Else this Week?

So seriously y'all, Star Conflict is like silly easy.  It's so silly easy to drive up LoS point scores for player vs. environment (AI) matches that many pilots who enjoy the game and play it often put in Star Conflict time to unwind from other games or when they aren't feeling particularly worked up enough to tackle the harder games.

When I tried it out for the first time last night, I was completely lost, and still got a kill or an object 'capture' (by occupying space near the object) in each round so that I would get the LoC point. The rules for an LoC point in Star Conflict require at least either of a) 1 kill or b) one object capture.  Most folks quote the games as taking about 5 minutes each, but so far as I am very new and awkward in the game I find something closer to 10 minute each to be true.  This is still faster by several minutes than the average dogfight queue - and you don't have to feel guilty at all about chasing away new SWS players in PvP by stomping on them for competition points.

That last fact alone makes me very inclined to pile up some Star Conflict LoS this week and throughout this competition.  I do also look forward to other competitions coming up after the current one where variety of games played counts more broadly.

I should reiterate for sure that the LoS points are only half of the scoring system.  For elite pilots in TF, XVT, and XWA there are opportunities that contribute the other half of the scoring system, and we can all lean on each other to give tips and tricks about precise orders of operation for maximizing bonus objectives to get the highest scores possible in those games.

CLOSING COMMENTS

I am placing this topic at the bottom of this communication specifically to get the attention of only those who read thoroughly and to the end.  At the end of this month I will be taking my first shore leave in a great long time.  Therefore, I will need to have engaged Flight Leaders, and I will also need to select an XO from within our ranks before that week.  That week will be here very soon.

The duties of the Flight Leaders are solely based on helping me know what all fleet wide competitions and related activities that our members are participating in - so that we make sure and catch those activities for bonus points towards monthly medals.

The duties of the XO are more broadly described as 'Filling in for all functions of the Commander when the Commander is unavailable.'   Full details on the position can be found on pages 13 and 14 of the Tie Corps Pilot Manual here.

To notify me of your interest in either or both positions, please reply to this communication or message me directly on the Discord application.
