Introduction

It's been a quiet week this week, with little activity from the pilots. I hope to see that rectified next week...I want to do lots of BSFs!!! Actually, I haven't been too active myself as I have an exam on Monday morning so all my energy has been put into that. When I have done the exam, I will have a couple of days off to get some EH work done so expect to see the first signs of a Squadron Website made, plenty of flying to give us a high score for CR#5 and an entry for the Fiction section of Cantina Run. I expect similar from you all.

Squadron News

Phantom have another new pilot!!!

Please welcome SL Ashley Katya to Phantom Squadron. Freshly off Daedalus and wanting action, I'm sure Ashley will fit right in. (this is your cue to reply and say hello, pilots!!!)

Also I would like to mention that our other new recruit LT Mahak de Lay is on leave for a couple of weeks. He's just moved flat and needs a bit of time to get sorted. When he and LT Moonknight return from leave, and when we get a few more cadets joining like Ashley, we'll have plenty of new blood to really kick start Phantom into being a great squadron!!!

Operation: Cantina Run III Starts February 24th, 2001

  • Phase I- Fiction Writing: February 24th, 2001 - March 7th, 2001 (deadline = my birthday :o)

  • Phase II- Graphics Design: March 10th, 2001 - March 17th, 2001

  • Phase III- Mission Flying Contest: March 19th - March 31st, 2001

The Fiction section has already started and you have until the 7th to get your entries in to me. The fiction for the competition has to be based upon the Battlegroups. Nothing else. You can't write about any other subgroups, such as the DB or Senate, but you can mention them in places. Please hand in your entries on the 6th preferably as I have to mail it to my superiors, then they do the same, until all the entries get to BGCOM Jarak. Also, I'm probably going to be drunk on the 7th (see below). 

Spearhawk has already wrote an entry, and I've already started my fiction for the competition, so get cracking yourself and write something down :o)

CMDR's Birthday!!!

Wednesday 7th March is one of the most important dates on the calendar. Yes, it is the time to celebrate the birth of our saviour. Yes, the savior of Phantom...CPT Werdna Elbee.

I'm not mailing this to show off though...it's a warning!!! While I will be checking my e-mail early in the evening (6pm GMT) I'll be out for the rest of the night partying. Then I will be doing the same on the 8th March...and I'll probably be dead on the 9th. That means over them few days I will be semi-active, but I will still get BSFs and competition entries done. If you need any particular help with anything, bug CM Gunman at ehgunman@hotmail.com but I should be able to get pretty much everything done.

Well done to Ranger Squadron for being awarded COM's own by winning the Wing Competition. Also, congrats to CPT Banger for being the Top Pilot.

It's also worth noting that Phantom done well too. In the total scores we came 4th, beating Ghost Squadron. And on Average we done better than Ghost and Demon Squadron. All we need is some better participation in the competitions and we can seriously contend in these competitions strongly!!!

FL position

We will be having a new Flight Leader in Phantom soon. Sadly their arrival was delayed because of computer problems, but that has now been solved and the paperwork is now in action. Of course, I can't say who it is yet until the paperwork is done (their CMDR may block the move for all I know) but I do know them from other positions/projects/whatever and the pilot is pretty good at flying, reliable for competitions and a great officer.

Also, I have been recruiting on Daedalus a lot this week. Expect to see a couple of more pilots heading this way in the future. No one else seems to be recruiting there anymore and I'm reaping all the rewards...YEY!!!

Rebel Squadrons Competition

This isn't entirely confirmed yet, but it is very likely as I am working on the project (along with VA Adrenaline and CM RogueWing). The ISD Immortal will be kicking some Rebel Squadrons wing to death (probably), so expect a decent storyline and a couple of new missions to play. The time isn't confirmed yet, but I can see it starting when Cantina Run and XWA League are over (this date is just speculation). I want full participation for this...the damn Rebel scum shall pay!!!

Many congratulations to Vice Admiral Cyric! Cyric is a long-standing member of the Aggressor Strike Force, and has proven his abilities during his tenure as Grey Wolf COM. His has my full trust to bring continued success to the ASF. VA Cyric's first duty will be to select the new Grey Wolf Commodore.

EH Ladder is online! 02:06 - HA Astatine [jpboyce@indigo.net.au] After many months, the EH Ladder is finally online. The ladder features divisions for X-Wing vs TIE Fighter, Jedi Knight and X-Wing Alliance. The ladder is pretty much automated. The only human interaction is the reporting of matches (and signing up, of course). The ladder code takes care of all the score/win/loss/draw incrementing, as well as the ladder displaying code and emailing off the pretty match confirmation emails (which are in colour-coded HTML, to match the colours of each ladder.). New Star Wars game in the making 02:43 - HA Kawolski [absurefire@aol.com] LucasArts has unveiled plans for the PC 2D Real-Time Strategy game Star Wars Battleground developed by Ensemble Studios, creators the Age of Empires series...most likely to make up for revenues lost from LucasArts' previous RTS lemon, Force Commander. The game is set to be released in Fall 2001.

ISD Greywolf COM appointed 05:44 - VA Cyric [jroscoe@bellatlantic.net] Congrats to the newly promoted and appointed Rear Admiral Woobee on his promo and taking over the ISD Grey Wolf. Rear Admiral Woobee will be able to faithfully carry on the duties of Commodore, and further the goals of the ASF, TC, and EH. Also of note, congrats to Major Marcin Szydlowski on his promo to the rank of Major! Major "Mike" serves as Commander of Crusader squadron Wing XIII ISD Grey Wolf.

Executive Officer promoted to Sector Admiral 05:47 - SA Kawolski [absurefire@aol.com] Grand Admiral Ronin has promoted Executive Officer High Admiral Kawolski to the rank of full Sector Admiral and 25% secondary owner of the Emperor's Hammer.

Orders

  • Fly for XWA League CR#5 when detail are released.

  • Take part in as many multiplayer competitions as you can (more info can be found at http://www.tiecorps.org/combat/)

  • Attend IRC as often as possible. Remember that as well as #emperor's_hammer and #tiecorps, there is also an #ISD_Immortal room. If you need any help getting on IRC and using mIRC (or whatever) mail me. ISD Immortal meetings are on at 3pm EST in their channel.

  • Post on the Phantom Message Board more often. It can be found in the Squadron Forums on http://www.tiecorps.org/mb/ 

  • Recruit!!! If I can do it, ANYONE can!!!

  • Give me some BSFs to do. If there are any missions you haven't flown, then get flying. If you've completed them already, then why not go for the highscores as they may be useful in a future competition.
