Flayer Squadron Weekly Report #4
CMDR/LC Kenath Zoron reporting in for Flayer Squadron this week ending May 18th, 2009.

Welcome all to the 4th instalment of the Flayer Squadron WSR. I am your host, Kenath Zoron and will be doing my best to entertain and inform you of the necessary news this week. Before I get any further in this report, I should remember to remind you ALL to contact me by email, IRC, carrier pigeon, etc... ASAP. It’s no fun for me or you if I have to continuously hound you for an update on your status. I know many of you contacted me when I initially sent out an email when I first joined, so I have high hopes to hear from at least as many of you this time around.
Squadron News:

• There have been a few big changes in the squadron, as you have probably surmised from the fact this report is being issued by me. I have been assigned to take over Flayer Squadron after the long service from CPT Matt Dante. I want to thank Matt for his work with and for the squadron and am glad to welcome him into Flight III.
• The most important news is that Flayer Squadron is in the lead for the Raise the Flag competition (see below for more details), but overall the Subjugator is in 2nd. We need more flying out of everyone to secure the squadron title and to take the ship title as well!
• In addition to me being moved in the 1-1 spot, I am glad to welcome an old friend to Flight III – COL Dax Corrin has transferred to us from Green Squadron and will be a great veteran presence in the squadron. He has been a former Avenger Elite Squadron CMDR and thus is quite adept with the flight stick. He has already added nearly 65 citations to the squadron by his mere addition. Make sure you welcome him!
• Golden Tug Awards are coming up over the next few months. Rules have been tweaked slightly in that you now have to have flown the battles that you wish to vote upon. We still have about half a month to fly them before voting opens (June 1st). The full list is here: http://eh.stryfe.net/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=860 I will be focusing on flying as many as possible, and I think this is a great opportunity for our Squadron to make our presence felt – I’d love to see citations in most, if not all, the nominated battles.

• As you can probably tell, I’m big on squadron citations – I love them. They’re a fun little piece of role-playing and should be a source of pride for the squadron. I was part of the first (and possibly only) squadron to have broken the 300 citation barrier. That’s a very high milestone, but I think a reasonable goal for the squadron would be to break 100 (only 15 more) by the end of the academic summer (ie – the end of August). As such, anyone who hasn’t flown XvT-TC 15, 16 or 17 are encouraged to fly any or all of them. We only need one more pilot to fly them to give us the citations for those battles.

Squadron Status/Comps:
There are a few competitions running at the moment, and expect another two to get approved in the next day or so:

1. Raise the Flag 2009
• Fly SP, fly MP, get high-scores, make GFX, write fiction, take IWATS and help the squadron show that we’re the best in the TC. TONS of Iron Stars are available across the board for whatever activities you do. As well, even if all you do is fly 1 mission and we win – you get an IS-SW.
• COMPETITION ENDS May 21st. That’s this Thursday, so get your files and work in to me ASAP!
2. TACcy Quotes
• Read the TAC's latest report and email her first with the correct answer to which movie is quoted. IS-BR for 1st. If you win 3 times, you get an IS-GR
3. TACcy Speed Test
• Read the TAC's latest report and fly the free mission and aim for the fastest time possible on the mission. Fastest time earns IS-SW. If you beat the TAC's score you win an IS-BW.  IMPORTANT - DO NOT SUBMIT TO ME FOR PROCESSING! Send to TAC directly (dempsey@slayersrealm.com)
4. SP Ace of the TIE Corps, May 2009
• Fly the most missions to win the title. First gets title and IS-GW; Second gets IS-SW and third gets IS-BW; All earn much love from me if you're in this squadron :P

Activity Reports:
For this week I will NOT be doing activity reports as I would only know my activity. Please, if you’ve done stuff recently, email me and let me know what it was (IWATS, fiction, flying, etc...) so I can include it in next week’s report.
Miscellaneous:

• I really love seeing pilots on IRC as it’s a very easy way to get in touch with everyone and also lets us build some squadron/ship camaraderie. For those of you unfamiliar with IRC, this is a perfect opportunity to take some SIMPLE IWATS courses (m/IRC 1 and 2) and learn how to use the programs. The main channels you should be familiar with are #emperor’s_hammer, #tiecorps and #ISD_Subjugator on the Undernet servers. I’m in all three quite frequently under Zoron or LCZoron. Feel free to hang out and chat at any time.
• IWATS courses are coming back up - take a look over there and take a few that you haven't yet. I've taken a handful already and had fun (and learned a few things) and they don't take a ton of time (well, except SM/4 :P) http://iwats.isdchallenge.org/
• I will be evaluating candidates for the open FL position over the next few weeks, so feel free to impress me.
• Expect reports about every 8 days as I work an 8 day cycle, so it’s easier for me to post them on a specific day off for me rather than trying for a specific day when I might be working.
• Blue Jays are at the top of the AL East at 27-14 and are going to pound the Red Sox this week. Just thought you all should know.
