Fleet News
Nothing real exciting going on in the fleet. The latest Dark Sentinel has been released, both as a download and with the usual on-line mirror version.Your commander has yet another story in this one. Itfs a biggie, and is the one I used for the BCR. Take a look if youfre interested and let me know what you think. As always, check the TC News page (http://www.tiecorps.org/news.asp) for the latest. There are a number of EH conventions coming up, so take a look!
Wing News
So far no commodore has been approved for the Relentless. With the recent slew of command changes, therefs been a bit of an activity slowdown. Nothing to worry about yet, but we canft rest on our flagship laurels for long. Also the most recent BG report stated that the BG combat arena project has folded. There WAS a BG arena project?E-P
Squadron News
Friday marked the end of our IW competition. We had reasonable turnout, with three of our five pilots flying FM149. The scores are being tallied,and only need to be compared with those of the IW to determine the results. Frankly, I donft think wefll do all that well. The high scoring pilot in Spear was LCM Ironfist, followed by yours truly and LT Owen coming in a close third.
Itfs possible that LT Owen might be leaving us if he ends up being accepted by the Emperorfs Fist. Ifd really hate to see him go, so join me inepersuadingEhim to remain with Spear. Itfs possible to be in two (or more)sub-groups at the same time, and Owen brings a great deal to Spear. Flying missions ainft all we do hereE-P
Right on the heels of the IW competition, we have one with Inferno Squadron. Therefre one of Wing Xfs big guns, with some very experienced pilots. The competition runs from the 20th through the 30th of this month, and uses TC138, which is attached to this report. Needless to say, Ifd like to see EVERY PILOT flying this time. If you canft do so, let me know whatfs going on. We kicked Wing Xfs butts in the BCR, and now itfs our chance to defeat
one of their crack squadrons in detail.
On a more positive note, LCM Ironfist has a test version of our new Spear web site up and running, through the good offices of our own Miack. This is a beta version, for lack of a better term, but go and have a look at it. Argylefs done a fine job! Itfs at http://spearsquadron.ehonline.org. Wefll be looking for some fiction to post there, as well as YOUR ideas for content.
Speaking of the web page youfll all want to look at it simply for the
squadronfs Standing Orders. These have been approved by the Flight Office,and are official. You are all responsible for understanding them, as well as asking questions if therefs anything you donft understand or need clarified.

Miscellaneous
Since wefre now below 50% strength, Ifve decided not to fill the Flight 3 FL position for the time being.
We need some ideas for future squadron activities. One thing Ifm
considering is going in with one of our fellow squadrons (Shield, for
example) and challenging two other squadrons in another wing. This gives us a little more variety as well as a shot at the silver-grade wings (and ribbons for those non-flying competitions).
Itfs been suggested (by LCM Ironfist) that we need a Tactical Officer. Ifm in full agreement with this, and am looking for volunteers. Basically this officer would put together ewalk-throughEnotes for competition missions. The Tac Officer position could also be used to test squadron battles and/or missions before submitting them to the fleet Tac Office. If youfre interested, let me know.
Finally, therefs the subject of recruiting. Much as I hate to do it, I think I might finally have to break down and post a eplease come here'ad on the TC recruiting forum. If any of you have any leads on cadets or reservists who want to come to Spear, let me know. Wefve had a couple of prospects, but nothing has come of them as yet.
