Phantom Weekly Report #5
(10.03.01)
Introduction
It’s been an interesting week. A few
competitions have just ended (CR#4 and ECR Fiction), and a few have just started
(CR#5 and ECR Graphics…which are similar, but different stages). We’ve done
okay in them, but I expect well get better once the new pilots get the hang of
the EH and our on leave pilots return.
We are now up to 8 pilots…although only 5 of them can be active. I am also
expecting plenty more new recruits joining in the near future, either from
Daedalus or a veteran wanting the FL job. Hopefully we can get enough pilots to
get over the fact that 3 of us can’t fly at the moment. Then we’ll kick some
competition ass!!!
Squadron News
A Cadet per Week!!!
Please welcome another new pilot, SL Deimos!!! I hope you enjoy
your time with us :o)
We've been doing pretty well with getting new pilots, and a week hasn't passed
when I haven't announced a new pilot to the squadron in a report. It's hard to
believe that there were only a few pilots in Phantom a month ago, and now we
have the joint biggest squadron in the fleet.
Everyone's computer is broken...almost
I'm sad to say that another of our pilots has to go on leave
due to computer problems. Let's hope that LT Mahak de Lay can return to active
duty as soon as possible. The period of time the leave will take is unknown, but
he still wishes to remain in Phantom in some way. This is probably because of
his moving to a new flat…wrecking what WAS his computer :(
Also, some reminders...
LT Moonknight is also on leave for computer problems. Contacting is still a
problem as he can only e-mail at school.
LCM Bill Tar has been out of contact for a month. It is likely that an AWOL is
on the cards as the period of time is up, but because of his past record I will
attempt to move him to the reserves just incase he returns.
Also, there is the possible future Flight II Leader. We still don't have a
Flight II Leader, but please be patient as the pilot I have asked currently has
computer problems. I am currently enquiring how long this period will last, and
if it is too long I may have to look for someone else.
Squadron Website
I'm sorry that it hasn't appeared yet,
but I have a MASSIVE computing project that I have to hand in for Wednesday and
sadly that comes first. You don't need the site yet though, as you get all you
news right here and everything else in it was going to be a wonderful bonus
rather than what was needed. If you need to view a website, then I do recommend
you view the Flight III website at http://hem.passagen.se/utanska/flight/

Current Activities and Competitions
XWA League Combat Run #5
Mission:
FREE-XWA24 "Operation Moonbaker"
Deadline: 16th March (entries before the 18th March might also be
accepted, but not guaranteed)
Mail plt files to: werdna_elbee@emperorshammer.ca
Notes: The top score is 24,299 by LCM Gord Darkonian of Falcon Squadron.
As you can see from above it is entirely possible to get around the 10000 mark
on the Easy level, but please also try your best to get a good score on Hard.
Please, please, please, please, please fly for this competition. This is how we
are measured against the other XWA Squadrons, and our results look poor due to
past low roster numbers and forced leave of pilots. We now have enough new
pilots to have a real good go at this competition, and it’s now time to work
our way back up towards the top of the league.
You can download FREE-XWA24 at http://www.tiecorps.org/battles/battle.asp?record=476
I have also sent a separate mail to all of you about the XWA
League, how to take part, where we currently are in the league, etc. I hope it
helps you all.
Operation: Cantina Run III
The Fiction phase of this competition has just ended, and Phantom
done their part. Thanks to CM Gunman, CM Spearhawk and CPT Werdna Elbee for
taking part. Overall, the ISD Immortal done very well to with 24 submissions out
of 35 pilots (at the time). We will retain our title!!!
- Phase II- Graphics Design: March 10th, 2001- March 17th, 2001
- Phase III- Mission Flying Contest: March 19th - March 31st, 2001
Fleet News
Blatantly nicked from the TC news page, but
why should I have to retype it just for this report...it'll be just the same
info!
Skipping Missions
16:30 - AD StarLion [colstarlion@hotmail.com]
Recently, it has come to my attention
that pilots have been simply playing 5/6 of a battle (or X-1/X) and submitting
it, saying they skipped the last mission. According with the Tactical Manual, I
have issued Tactical Order #001.
Tactical Order #001
Admiral StarLion
Persons having skipped a mission in a battle MUST fill out a legitimate bug
report on that battle in order to receive credit for that battle.
If the Tactical Office discovers you are NOT doing so, the BSF's in question
will be removed from your record, irregardless of previously completed entries
for said battle.
(Quoted from: The Tactical Manual)
You may not skip more than one mission. You may NOT skip Free Missions. You may
NOT skip a mission just because you do not want to fly it.
Corrected Battles
14:15 - AD StarLion [colstarlion@hotmail.com]
The Phoenix Engineers Team is proud
to release it's first set of battle fixes! The following battles have been
checked and cleared for dispersal.
TC-TIE 134
TC-TIE 148
TC-TIE 155
TC-TIE 156
TC-XvT 4
TC-XWA 3
FREE-TIE 148
IW-XW 2
IW-XW 7
EH finishes 4th in WoW
18:12 - VA Adrenaline [adrenaline@tiecorps.org]
After a week of XWA multiplayer
battling with 84 other clubs, the EH earned its second BSC medal for fighting
its way to 4th place! Congratulations go out to COL Dras Hempor who finished as
8th overall pilot, and CPT Lito Rendal who finished 10th, both earning their own
personal BSC medals. Thanks to all who participated, bringing glory and honor to
our club!
Newsletter #72 released
09:50 - SA Kawolski [absurefire@aol.com]
The Executive Officer Sector
Admiral Kawolski has released the new EH Newsletter (#72) for public
viewing!

Online Version
http://www.absolutek.com/nl72/
(CMDR Werdna_LB: Just view
it online. Only the fiction, graphics, links to cool sites and the features on
books and gaming are worth viewing. The rest is just reports from officers you
don’t really care about, enough INPRs to drown in, manuals you can download
separately (which is much nicer on your modem that way), and boring TC database
statistics. Even worse, most of the features are just rip offs from other sites
such as www.starwars.com
and www.theforce.net
…which you should visit regularly anyway for more up-to-date information.)
(CMDR Werdna_LB: If only I ran my own newsletter :o)
Orders
- Fly FREE-XWA24 for XWA League CR#5 and send them to me!!!
- Take part in as many multiplayer
competitions as you can (more info can be found at http://www.tiecorps.org/combat/)
- Attend IRC as often as possible. Remember that as well as #emperor's_hammer and #tiecorps, there is also an #ISD_Immortal room. If you need any help getting on IRC and using mIRC (or whatever) mail me. ISD Immortal meetings are on at 3pm EST in their channel.
- Post on the Phantom Message Board more
often. It can be found in the Squadron Forums on http://www.tiecorps.org/mb/
- Recruit!!! If I can do it, ANYONE can!!!
- Give me some BSFs to do. If there are any missions you haven't flown, then get flying. If you've completed them already, then why not go for the highscores as they may be useful in a future competition.
