Sigma Report # 0 (2000-09-14)

This report was submitted by CPT Artyis

Greetings and salutations,

Welcome to Sigma Squadron Weekly Report meeting.

* Arguably the news of latest week (especially it was a rather quiet
week) is the shift on Sigma commander's chair, which now belongs to me.
It's worth of notice that it happend without any fight nor plots: Major
Al R.S. stepped down from it "due to lack of time what could result in
my less than expected performance" - MAJ Al R.S. Some fight however will
take place, since Al decided to take away from me my veteran's blanket
and my old, trusted harmonica - a symbol of proud membership of
Desperado Club, an organisation open for every Assault Gunboat pilot of
Fleet... Tickets for this happening are available in Kantyna.

* Sigma has been named Wing Commander's Own for August for - as our Wing
Commander, Major Inkwolf said - "for their high participation, their
excellent scores, and the fun they have in their cantina!". Ladies,
gentlemen, all drinks today at my cost!

* The new Wing II webpage made and maintained by Wing Commander, Major
Inkwolf is ready and waiting for your visits at http://wingii.ehnet.org
. I especially liked the description of our squadron (below) and the
"photo" of our Command Staff. There's only one thing in this latest I
don't like - "Major Inkwolf's date for Saturday night". Major Inkwolf,
Ma'am, I would like to inform you (if you don't know this already) that
this officer meets every pilot of our Fleet! I'm sure that every of us
have had a meeting with him, one on one, without even that cloacked
person in backgroud... ;)

Excerpt from "About Wing II" page:
"Sigma Squadron: The Polish Menace, Sigma is Wing II's high-scoring,
hard-flying, honor-at-all-costs spit-shined model exhibition competition
squadron! Nothing gets between Sigma and their mission goals, and their
uniforms are always freshly dry-cleaned, starched and pressed!" - well,
it looks like a very favourable oppinion, don't you think? :) We owe you
one, Major Inkwolf, Ma'am!

* It's definitely an "I-have-to-step-down" week. Two of Command
Officers, CS-3, TAC/HA Kawolski and CS-9, SO/FA Rapier have decided to
resign from their positions. The new Tactical Officer is Admiral Striker
(eh_striker@mail.com), new Security Officer - Admiral Nightflyer
(nightflyer@home.com). Congratulations to both of them!
By the way: HA Kawolski, the living legend of TIE Corps will stay with
us serving to the Fleet as he did so far as Fleet Systems Engineer.

* XO/SA Compton, acting in the name of Fleet Commander decided to award
Fleet Commander's Own to... no, not the Flagship, not the Sovereign,
dammit... to ISD Colossus (VIII Fighter Wing). Well, our good friend CPT
Devlin of Omicron should be glad...

* Captain Todbringer has been eventually forced to change his e-mail
address. From now on the most valid one is todbringer@poczta.onet.pl
Please make appriopriate updates in your address-books.

* Captain Todbringer proposed an "Official List of Unofficial
Positions", which are holded by several Sigma's members. Here they are
(only for use among Sigma pilots!):

"Officers

In Sigma Squadron we have a few special positions. Various Officers -
that's
how we call them - help the Commader to run the Squadron and add more
flavour and depth to Sigma.

Drill Officer (DO) - he's responsible for keeping high morale and
discipline
in the Squadron. Also responsible for encouraging Pilots to fly at the
maximum of their abilities. He does his duties by writing special
e-mails to
his fellow Pilots.

Logistics Officer (LO) - also known as the Barkeeper. He's responsible
for
running our Cantina's bar - selling drinks, preparing some special
attractions and cleaning all the mess we leave after our parties.

Statistics Officer (SO) - he's responsible for preparing detailed
statistics
from each competition Sigma participates. Also responsible for keeping
high
morale in the Squadron.

Technical Officer (TO) - he's responsible for maintaining Sigma's
webpage.
Tough and demanding job.

Account Officer (AO) - also known as the Accountant. He's responsible
for
keeping track of Pilots' money - how do they spent their cash and how
much
do they have on their accounts."

Some of these are well-known so far. The others, along with their rights
and obligations will be named soon.

* Captain Todbringer, inspired by Major Inkwolf commentary - "gambling
on pod races" - has offered to create a system, which will let us to
enjoy this sport and win (or lose) a money in it! System has been yet
created and - as for me - works perfectly, so we all should see it in
practice soon. ...after Tod ties up loose ends of it and prepare a
backgroud for it. :)

Status:
* There's still some time left to deadline of Squadron League Combat Run
#13. I expect to see all 11 reports on my desk this evening. If you
haven't sent it already, do it now. If you haven't flown it... May the
Force be with you... >:>
Reminder: TIE Battle #78, due September, 14th.

* Reminder: we're still involved in Mega-Sov Competition! And as far as
I know our Wing is lagging behind the others! Ladies, gentlemen, we have
something to do with this! I expect much better flying activity than
this so far!

* We're waiting for the green light for Wing II-Retribution Fleet
Competition. This one has an additional meaning for us, as our own
Lieutenant Alexander is an author of one of missions for it.

* Sigma's internal duel between LCM Obi-Kan Kysiobi and LCM Haggis
McMutton will start with delay, because of technical problems with LCM
Kysiobi's computer.
