Sarin's Thoughts

Men, this stuff some sources sling around about Avenger not having a chance to win and not wanting to fight is a lot of baloney! Avengers love to fight, traditionally. All real Avengers love the sting and clash of battle. Avenger is a winner. Avenger will not tolerate a loser. Avengers despise a coward; Avengers play to win. That's why this Avenger has never lost and never will lose a war.

The real hero is the man who fights even though he's tired. Some get over this in a minute, under fire; others take an hour; for some it takes days; but a real man will never let the boredom or fatigue over power his honor, his sense of duty, and his bond with the Squad.

All through your TC careers, you've been bitching about not having a squad where all members put up the same activity as you. You now have that squad, and you now have the opportunity to push one another to the limits.

WE must be alert all the time if we expect to stay win. If not, some son-of-a-gun will sneak up behind us with a sock full of crap! There are thousands of points waiting, they are waiting for us, because we are not going to be caught asleep!

An Squad is a team, lives, sleeps, fights, and eats as a team. This individual hero stuff is a lot of horse shit! The bilious bastards who write that kind of stuff for the Newsletter don't know any more about real fighting under fire than they know about sex! Every single man in the Squad plays a vital role. Every man has his job to do and must do it. What if every pilot decided that he didn't like the effort needed to win? What if every man thought, "They won't miss me, just one 12?" Where in Hell would we be now? Where would our Avenger Be?

No, thank God, Avengers don't think like that. Every man does his job, serves the whole. MP pilots fly their matches, SP pilots fly their missions, graphics creators make their images, we all do our jobs!

We want to get this thing over and get the hell out of here, and get at those other ships!!! The shortest road to victory is through the Intrepid, Van, and Wolf! We'll win this war, but we'll win it only by showing the enemy we have more guts than they have or ever will have! We will win it by stalking their pilots, flying them at mp, and slaughtering them all!

There's one great thing you men can say when it's all over and you can relax once more. You can thank God that a year from now, when you're sitting around mIRC with some new LT and he asks you what you did in the war, you won't have to pause, cough, and say, "I did nothing." You will say "I flew with the Greatest Squad ever assembled. I beat Wings."

Get to your ships. Do what you do best.

This speech is a modified version of General George S. Patton's speech to American Troops before the invasion of Normandy.
